Scrubby zoom with option to enable/disable
Scrubby zoom option in the Preferences with enable/disable toggle, just like in Photoshop and Illustrator.
And the default option should be unticked (disabled).

Indesign NEEDS scrubby zoom. It makes the transitions from illustrator and photoshop to indesign jarring and unbearable because I rely on scrubby zoom so much PLEASE

Yes, why hasn't scrubby zoom been a thing in InDesign already? Please add it. I'm SURE if you read a couple articles on the internet you'll glean at least a minor understanding of what muscle memory is. MOST of us designers use multiple apps -- it should be SEAMLESS to move between them. There are so many inconsistencies it makes me want to throw a metaphorical brick through this company's metaphorical windows! So while you're at it, please make the Pen tool behave consistently also. Thanks.

I like the centering aspect of Marque zoom. Please allow us to turn off scrubby zoom

This pains me every day. Pleaseeeee make scrubby zoom available for indesign. marquee zoom only is the worst when I'm constantly using scrubby zoom in AI and PS.

I am constantly jumping around between Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. I prefer the scrubby zoom, especially while using a tablet, and the fact that it isn't available in InDesign makes me crazy.

I can't believe how much time I waste trying to zoom like in Photoshop and Illustrator, only to end up zoom in 1000% because of marquee-scroll. The design-language inconsistencies between software, like this, can be a real bummer.

Honestly. This is the worst thing about InDesign as a recently migrated artist from Illustrator and Photoshop. I've never liked the marquee zoom.

Just found how to switch to marquee zoom:
Preferences/GPU Performance/Animated zoom."Does anyone know how to have marquee zoom as the default in Indesign 2020? I don't like srubby zoom and cannot find the check box to turn it off. Help please!"

Just why? It ruins everything!

Pretty lame that "Scrubby" Zoom works perfectly fine in Photoshop and Illustrator on Windows 10, but InDesign gets left out...
why though? that's all I want to know -

Yes, we need proper Animated "Scrubby" Zoom back. To those below that keep saying, "Here's how to do it…", know that you are using a Mac, where it works. There are not those same settings/options on Windows at the moment. If I remember correctly, we used to be able to do this one Win, but not anymore. Lame. Can't be too much more demanding of a system to animate zoom for InDesign as it is in Photoshop and Illustrator, and it's possible there.

Turn this OFF as a default install feature, it's ridiculous.

I'm going to restate RAVEN here: Under "Indesign in the upper left corner," drop down to Preferences>GPU Performance - Uncheck "Animated Zoom"

The animated zoom for inDesign only works on mac right?

I imagine there is some logic to how you set up preferences over at Adobe, but seriously... an interface setting like animated zoom is under GPU performance?!
