The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.0.1.205). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

An error occurred while saving the comment An error occurred while saving the comment Evan commentedYUP. SO IRRITATING!! The error message is ridiculous and condescending too. "Indesign preferences were created with a different version of Adobe InDesign." Yeah....no sh** where else would they be created? You ask if prefs want to be imported when updating, we say yes, and then you wipe them out anyway. And if you're wondering, no, I'm not trying to update from CS2 or something....just going from the latest 2023 to 2024 like everyone else. Thanks Adobe.

An error occurred while saving the comment Evan commentedSo obnoxious and distracting. Entire interface is neutral so you can focus on your project, except for the big blue screaming button that I will never use, grabbing all my attention. What a complete joke—a design app that doesn't understand basic principles of design.

Hi,
The ability to add suffix to JPEG/PNG is now available in InDesign’s latest release 19.0. Please let us know your feedback in comments.

An error occurred while saving the comment Evan commentedNo, you have NOT added the ability to "name pages!" You have added the ability to add an (automated) suffix when exporting images. Yes, I know you addressed the one specific example from the original post here, but have ignored the root of what we mean by "name pages." We want a way to LABEL individual pages in indesign with anything we want, and have that custom label carry through the the exported filename—including PDF exports as well as images, just like we can do with Illustrator artboards. This is very clearly explained by multiple people if you read through the full chain of comments around this request. So frustrating that it has been over 5 years and we still can't get anyone to understand this. BTW thanks for wiping out all my ID preferences with this latest update too, really appreciate that.
An error occurred while saving the comment Evan commentedYes in addition to the helpfulness of just visually seeing the page names, it could also lead to some very helpful features with exporting page names to filenames.

Here is a zip of various scripts I've created to batch export assets.

All work based off NEU's idea below, where you create named bookmarks for every page, then run the script to batch export all the bookmarked pages into individual files. The bookmark name is passed into the filename. Some of these scripts allow you to put in a global prefix and even include the pixel dimensions in the filename automatically.
They work pretty well, though the bookmark creation part is annoying and tedious. Would still love to see page names baked into indesign.
An error occurred while saving the comment Evan commentedWe often use InDesign to build & export a collection of project assets, same workflow as using/exporting a series of multiple artboards in Illustrator. The ability to 'name' artboards in Illustrator and then batch export those artboards automatically passing their names into the exported filenames is awesome. Would love for InDesign to have that same ability.

This issue is no longer reproducible. If you are still facing this issue, you may try to quit the application, trash InDesign Cache and Preferences and check again.

Effects panel randomly went blank inside. Shows the panel itself, but no options or buttons inside of it. Tried closing and reopening panel and restarting indesign. Still blank. Been using InDesign for 20+yrs never seen this particular problem before.Evan supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Evan commentedVarious combinations of the tips in the comments do technically work, but it's extremely finicky and difficult. Even though I know it CAN be done, I am still only successful at it about 30% of the time. It's just physically very difficult to drag the mouse around in the precise, mysterious, magical order, over the tiny sliver of vague gray space in the panel that makes this feature work. So it really seems like a UX disaster rather than a complete lack of the feature.
An error occurred while saving the comment Evan commented@Jason — That doesn't work for me in ID 14.0.1. It sticks the new page at the end of doc every time
An error occurred while saving the comment Evan commentedYes 9 times out of 10 I want to duplicate a page to [the next page] rather than [to the end of document]. I'm constantly having to duplicate a page, scroll all the way down to the bottom, then drag/move the new page all the way back up to where I wanted it.

An error occurred while saving the comment Evan commentedScott—Thank you for pointing that out! Indeed, GREP styles look perfect for this... I use GREP all the time in find/change but somehow had no idea GREP styles existed.

An error occurred while saving the comment Evan commentedTry turn on your invisible characters (Type >> Show Hidden Characters) and check if you have any "nonbreaking space" characters (shown as blue ^) between words, as opposed to regular spaces. These will force words to stay together on the same line, causing them to not fit in the narrower box.
I don't see anything wrong with the leading.

Also (not sure if related) but I cannot even manually load any of my old Preflight Profiles via [Define Profiles]. When I hit the LOAD PROFILE button, it allows me to locate and choose a file, I hit open, but then it jumps right back to the Preflight Profiles dialog without actually loading anything.
