Hi, the same thing is happening in the current version, 21.3. Can you fix it? I had to install an older version. 19.0 version, that's a stable version without those kinds of issues; I'm going to switch back to that version, or maybe I'll try Affinity.

I'm using 21.2.0.30 as advised and it is 100% NOT fixed. I spent 20 minutes fixing an issue because I couldn't undo it. MacOS 15.7.3 8gb ram

Edit: I tried to save the file and it crashed. Lost 2 hours of work. Luckily I saved a pdf but I can't make changes anymore.

I'm using InDesign 2026 21.3 and you most certainly have not fixed it!

Still not working .... I have to hand out a work tomorrow. It's taking me for ever to finish because of this bug. It's been like this for a few weeks and I still have to pay for this app......... pls fix it soon

Why do you mark issues as fixed when they are not? PLEASE FIX IT NOW!
I use 21.3.0.60 and I have frequent issues with Undo.

this is STILL happening, and as someone who makes lots of graphics (or even complicated map graphics) I need to be able to undo like we used to. I never even noticed a limit, it would allow undos all the way up until you first opened the file. This is a critical issue in my opinion. Workspace is a Surface Laptop 6 for Business running Windows 11 Pro, RAM is 16 GB.

running into this issue, undo button is greyed out and ctrl Z doesnt work. bugs with placing images from files. instead of mouse there is the loading symbol and often crashes and closes.

This is still happening for me in version 21.3 on an M1 Max, macOS 15.7.3.

weird glitches in the newest Indesign: suddenly my redo stops working and when I go to restart Indesign it freezes so I need to force quit. This is NOT GOOD! I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times to no avail.

I am still at 21.2 (Windows 10, 16GB of RAM) — undo stack clearing itself was solved, but now, from time to time, I get a dialog popup saying something like: YOU CAN'T UNDO THIS ACTION, ARE YOU SURE TO CONTINUE? [YES] [NO].

Super annoying. Everytime I need to re-save the document with a new name and close and re-open InDesign.

Why oh why we can't go back to those fond times of InDesign version 19.xx?

Bug is not solved. I have Indesign 21.2 and working on a MacBook Pro running Tahoe 26.2. I can't even undo once. This is a serious problem!

I'm working on an M4 mac with Sequoia and on 21. 2 and experiencing a related issue where a state "Update Link" is added to the History panel every time I switch focus to another app or another file and click back to the original file. There are no links in my files and no changes are being added, it just "updates link" on re-focus. Once I undo some states and then switch to another file and then refocus, it clears History states. Once this is triggered, it happens for every open or new InDesign files until I quit and restart InDesign.

As of today February 20, 2026, Undo is unavailable after a few uses. I just updated to the latest version about a week ago.

Hi Ravi as of today: February 18th 2026 the undo / redo functionality is completely missing (greyed out) in the latest InDesign Release.
