“Fit frame to content” no longer works in InDesign 21.1
Version:

1. Open any document in InDesign 21.1
2. Select a text frame or an image frame
3. Press Option + Command + C (Fit Frame to Content)Expected result:
The selected frame resizes to fit its content.Actual result:
Nothing happens. The shortcut does not execute.
The command is still listed in Keyboard Shortcuts and cannot be removed.
Double-clicking the bottom-center resize handle still works.Notes:
This is a regression from previous InDesign versions.

fit spread in window
I want Fit Spread in Window to work, all the time, every time!!!!!!!!!!!! I am using version 21.0.1 on macOS 26.2. This defect has been around for a long time, and many people have complained about it. My office colleagues all have the same issue. It works today, and then not tomorrow. It works for 5 minutes in one file, and then suddenly stops working. A Page layout program should be able to display pages! I want to use Fit Spread in Window every single day, and I am so disappointed that this defect goes on and on and on…

Option-drag distance not remembered correctly when duplicating command-D
Title says it, when I usually duplicate an object using option key and after that type Command-D the object was typically duplicated with the same distance. Not anymore…

InDesign 2026 application window automatically snapping to screen width
I like to stretch the InDesign application window partially onto my second monitor but since updating to 2026 it keeps snapping back to the edges of a single monitor.
It seems that if you pull two edges of the app frame away from the edge of the screen (left and bottom, for instance) it doesn't happen. But as soon as one of the edges goes back up against the edge of the monitor it resizes the width.
There is also strangeness when trying to use "normal" windows functions like the clicking the control menu (top left corner of the app…

Numbering
If the numbering didn't start on the first page of the file, but on a specific page (determined by the user), it would be a very significant improvement.
I'd like this configuration to be more flexible and usable for the user, allowing us to modify the configuration (numbering start page, the numbering progression and other features).1 vote -
Font Selector Broken
When I select a font in indesign 2024 (select drop down, start to type name of font "script", select font ) it works fine
When I attempt the same in indesign 2026 (select drop down, start to type name of font "script", system shows me fonts beginning with the second or third letter I typed, e.g. "Cricket")

Interactive contextual menu no longer works properly
Since the latest version 21.0.1, the option enabling the creation of an hyperlink in Interactive menu has disappeared y/or no longer works properly.

InDesign 2026 (v 21.01) Won't lock "Constrain Proportions"
When resizing an object, Indesign 2026 won't retain the selection 'Constrain proportions for width and height' when clicked from the properties window.

Selecting placed file no longer selects that file in the Links window.
In InDesign 2025 and earlier, selecting a placed file (such as a placed Photoshop background) used to select and highlight that file in the Links window. In ID 2026, it no longer does that. This was an invaluable feature for those of us that have hundreds of linked files and need to use the Edit In function. Can you please bring back the feature.

Alert: "Incompatible file detected. Please choose a valid file to proceed" for scenarios when User Settings can not be imported
When I try to export user settings from GA, Beta or Pre-release and import into any of the others I get the error
'Incompatible file detected. Please choose a valid file to proceed.’
The current pre-release cannot even import a settings file from 6 months ago

Unable to Stretch InDesign Across Two Monitors After Update
Environment:
OS: Windows (PC)
InDesign Version: 21.0 x64
Hardware: Dual-monitor setupIssue:
After the latest major update, InDesign no longer supports spanning the application window across two monitors. When attempting to resize the window to cover both screens, the UI automatically snaps back to a single-monitor configuration.
Expected Behavior:
The application should allow the window to extend across multiple monitors, as was possible in previous versions.
Observed Behavior:InDesign reverts to one monitor when stretched across two.
Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop continue to support multi-monitor spanning without issue.Question:

Indesign-Dateien die älter als 2 Jahre sind lassen sich nicht direkt von einem externen Firmen-Server öffnen. Sie müssen immer erst vom Firmen-Server auf die lokale Festplatte kopiert werden, von dort geöffnet und dann auf dem Firmen-Server überspeichert werden. Ein nerviger Workaround.

Unable to select multiple objects
Yesterday InDesign 21.0 was forced upon me and it is nothing but issues.
This very annoying issue is that I can't select multiple objects. I click one, I hold shift to select another one - and it deselects the first one. I have tried every possible combination of keys, and multiple restarts. I can only select multiple objects by dragging across them, which does not work for all layouts, or by using CMD-A.1 voteHi,

notes tool deactivates midway through typing note
Every time I try to add a new note, the window to type the note briefly activates, but midway through typing my note it deactivates and greys out, deselecting both the note and the whole text thread it is part of. To continue typing the note, I need to click back into the text frame and use the arrows to get to the previous or next note to reactivate it. Then it deactivates again a second or two later. Why is it doing this? I am using 20.4.1 x64.

Restore “Next/Previous Window” shortcut functionality when Stage Manager is enabled
When using InDesign 2025 on macOS Tahoe with Stage Manager enabled, the Next Window (⌘`
) and **Previous Window** (⇧⌘`) shortcuts do not work. Even if the shortcuts are reassigned in Preferences, InDesign cannot cycle through open documents.What’s happening:

When waking from sleep, screen turns black or magenta
InDesign 20.5 (and previous versions). Apple Mac mini M1 2020, 16GB, Sequoia 15.6 (and previous iterations of the OS). Samsung UJ590 UHD Monitor.
Not the first time this has happened but as I’m on the latest version of ID now it’s becoming increasingly frustrating.
When waking from sleep, in GPU Preview, my entire screen is either black or magenta and I cannot see the components of my file. If I turn on Overprint Preview the assets can be seen. If I then switch back to GPU Preview, the screen changes back to black or magenta.

Objekte markieren und verschieben Sichtbarkeit
Das Verschieben eines markierten Objektes wird erst angezeigt, wenn ich den Cursor aus dem Objekt herausbewege bzw. nach der Aktion wieder hineinbewege. (The moving of a marked object is only displayed when I move the cursor out of the object. The same backwards: I have to move the cursor back into the object and just then the movement is visible). Please help!

Nothing appears when i open up indesign
When i boot up indesign. It starts up but there is nothing there. Just a blank screen. When I got to create a new document it doesn't work at all.
