Save "share for review" comments in an offline pdf
I would love the ability to save these comments in an offline pdf.

Inserting PDF-comments removes OpenType superscript formatting of endnote references
When a PDF-comment is accepted and inserted into the text, the formatting of the following endnote reference(s) with OpenType superscript position is removed.
This applies only to numbers with at least two digits and affects only the last digit(s). When another PDF-comment is inserted into the Paragraph, the problem occurs again.
The formatting is applied through a Character Style and while the Character Style remains applied, the formatting of the OpenType superscript position is visually removed.
A workaround is to apply the Character Style to the character(s) following the endnote reference. This is not always possible, so often the thinnest…

pdf comments missed
When auto-applying pdf comments in InDesign, some corrections are missed, even though they appear correctly in the pdf

Text not active after clicking on pdf markup comment panel
After clicking on the comment in the pdf comments panel, and applying the comment (or selecting the comment after auto-applying), sometimes I have to click again in the actual text frame to start typing any adjustments i need to make. It would be great if I could just type in the text frame after clicking on the comment, without having to again click in the text frame.

pdf import corrections
Indesign 19,.5 Imac 2020. When there are many corrections in a file it would be great if after accepting the correction, the correction would be deleted from the list of corrections, because Indesign can become very slow with 700+ corrections. And whats the use of keeping it in the list after accepting the correction.

InDesign Beta can't open/convert PDF files
- InDesign Beta 19.5 x64.
- Try to open a PDF file.
- I expect PDFs designed in InDesign to be openable.
- When I try to open a PDF file (which has been designed in InDesign), nothing happens. The program acts like I haven't tried to open a file at all. The work area remains empty.
A redditor has the same problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/indesign/comments/1d4o74e/indesign_beta_cant_open_convert_pdf/

Comment Feature is not working properly
Working with InDesign comments is extremely unsatisfying. The interactions are super slow (this might be because of my file, but still. comments should be displayed quickly as they are not big in file size). The pins are fixed, while text that is about to be changed will change position.
Also, not all comments are displayed or load really late. It's really confusing to figure out where they are and it's not possible to click a pin on the pages to view them.
The feature is really important. InDesign is a proper software with an outdated UI.

"PDF not Created in InDesign"
A PDF was exported from Adobe InDesign, opened in Abobe Acrobat, annotation tools were used, and the PDF was saved under a new file name. Attempting to open the comments in InDesign with the "Import PDF Comments" tool returns an error stating the PDF was not created in InDesign.... but it was, and only Adobe tools have been used.

PDF comments imported incorrectly
- Both ID 2024 and 2023 (19.0.1 and 18.5.1)
- A PDF file created with ID 19, and was commented by the client. When I import PDF comments it sometimes crashes, and afterwords ID does import the comments, but most of them are "broken" and appear as "unmapped comments".
- Attached are screenshots from both versions after importing comments from same file. Dark screenshot is from version 19.

Imported PDF comments on graphics transferred to text on page
- InDesign 19.0
- Add Acrobat comments to placed Illustrator graphics in an exported PDF, then import the PDF to PDF Comments in the source InDesign document.
- One would expect a warning dialog or just unmapped comments in InDesign.
- Instead, InDesign tries to map the comments elsewhere on the page.
- Screenshot shows the example I encountered with strikethrough markup. Instead of the % signs in the graphic, InDesign wants me to delete random letters and spaces in the text.

PDF comments import problem
In the previous version I was able to work very smoothly with the comments I imported, but in this version the computer crashes. It freezes during processing.

When a comment is made in a PDF using the Insert Text tool, that comment doesn't map to ID 18.5 and previous versions.
For the past month or so the insert text comments made in a PDF do not map to the InDesign doc. I'm getting comments from multiple users. All other mark-up is mapping as expected except insert text. I update ID every time a new version is released but this bug seems to be persistent.

Import PDF comments not appear as per PDF marking
In PDF it showing the comments correctly but after importing in InDesign it strike through the extra character.
InDesign version 2021 (16.4). We used the same InDesign file and PDF was created from that file.

PDF comments not accurate
ID 18.0 on Mac OS 12.6
Imported PDF comments such as replaced text, inserted text and strikethroughs are misplaced. They appear to move 1-2 characters before the place they show on Acrobat.1 vote -
Indesign doesn't mark 'single letter' PDF comments in the last words of the lines
Indesign 17.2.1 x64, Win 10
Indesign doesn't mark 'single letter Replace' comments in the last words in the line. If there is 'Replace single letter' in previous words, it works fine, if there is 'Replace whole last word', it works fine.1 vote -
PDF comments on footnotes import wrong
Whenever I receive PDF comments on footnote references, they import with the wrong position into InDesign.
In the attached screenshot you can see a delete/strikethrough comment on the footnote reference, yet after importing into InDesign it has moved to the glyph in front of the footnote reference. This needs to be fixed as it leads to errors, and forces me to check all the comment positions manually using Acrobat as InDesign cannot be trusted.
There are similar problems for bulleted/numbered lists (if the comment is placed on the bullet/number or at the end of a line).
Note: I've also seen…
