  3. Export to PDF function crash in InDesign 15.1

Today I have updated to InDesign 15.1 and when I try to export to PDF the application immediately crash.

This happen even I change the type of export (small dimension, print, etc.).

    I'm using windows 10 pro ver. 1909 build 18363.836, and Indesign 15.1 x64.

The system start to work but the application crash at 16% of the export.

The problem seems connected with something on the file, because I try to export another project and it work perfectly.

The file was all "green" in the preliminary checks panel.

And I notice that the system crash also using other function,…

  4. Unable to launch Adobe InDesign as you do not have sufficient permissions to access the preferences folders.

I can't even open InDesign anymore, I keep getting an error message that says "Unable to launch Adobe InDesign as you do not have sufficient permissions to access the preferences folders. Ensure that you have appropriate permissions and then restart Adobe InDesign." I've changed permissions on every folder and file to "Read & Write" that I thought would help make it work but nothing is working. I was trying to open the latest version of ID, even undownloaded and tried using CC 2017 to no avail. I need this fixed ASAP.

  5. InDesign CC Server 2018.1 crashes when applying masterSpread to a page

InDesign CC Server 2018.1 crashes when applying masterSpread to a page.
The code attached in file "Script.txt" crashes when executing "item.appliedMaster = masterSpread;".
The file "File.indd" is on which I execute the script.
I works properly in InDesign CS6 and InDesign CC 2018.1.
I've been searching on Internet and I couldn't find any issue similar to mine.
I think it is a bug but maybe I'm missing something prior to execute that sentence.
    Thanks.

  6. I can't open any file after upgrading to Catalina 15.10.1

Yesterday I switched from Mojave to the new version of MacOS Catalina (15.10.1), and InDesign CC 2019 (updated to version 14.0.3) immediately after switching to the new operating system started to no longer open the files, either from the "Open file" both by double clicking on the file (I also tried to open the files as a copy, but InDesign also crashes in that case).
Point out that I also tried uninstalling InDesign and erasing all preferences, but the situation is not solved.
I kindly ask you to resolve the situation (which is not the downgrade to the old Mojave…

  7. can't export tagged pdf

Much time has been spent setting up accessible document in InDesign - added export tagging instructions to paragraph styles, added alt text to all images and figures, anchored images and objects to text, set up reading order using articles. The document will not export to PDF when "create tagged pdf" is selected. Program crashes every time before exporting is complete. Have tried on different computers. Applications are up to date. Have tried exporting from .indd and .idml file types.

  8. Crashes when Placing Docs from Microsoft Word

Since updating to CC2019 I am having constant crashes when placing from Microsoft Word.
The same documents were not an issue last week when using CC2018, both the same InDesign doc and word doc worked perfectly together.
Any suggestions as to how I can fix this critical issue - I'm on a business critical deadline, failing to meet it quite literally means the closure of our business.

  10. Indd file crashes when editing, including it into a book or during the book synchronization

After the Indesign update to the 2020 version I started to have problems with a single file: the program crashes every time I try to edit this file (in particular when I try to modify the content in the middle of the file, at the end of a series of tables), to include it in a book, or to synchronize a book which includes this corrupted file.
I attach the corrupted file, so you can check
    Is there a solutions?
    Thank you

  11. crash on create merged document

Indesign 2018 cc on mac os 10.12.6, crash on "create merged document" in data merge menu if more than approx 100 records in data file . "export to pdf" works. We have some files that need editing after merge so need this to work. Worked before 2018 update on same files that are causing crashes now. Seems to crash at point its going from a temp file to creating the finished file after the merge has happened. Tries unsucessfully to "recover" a temp file on startup after crash. Is entirely repeatable. System and user usage together never goes above 60%…

  12. InDesign 2020 v15.01 makes corrupt documents when using Alternate Layout

The "Create Alternate Layout" in indesign 2020 v15.01 is toxic.

After using it, chances are high that documents will at some later stage become corrupt. It may manifest itself by crashing on copy/paste or just a spinning beachball of death (Mac).

I have seen this on at least 20 different documents since upgrading from version 2019 to version 2020 (15.0.1). We never used version 15.0.

This is my guess on what happens:
Using "Create Alternate Layout" it will make some of the Paragraph Styles corrupt. Version 2020 seems to crash (beachball) whenever one of these are accessed. This might very…

  13. Create outlines in a document with conditional text crashes

I have four InDesign templates created, two use conditional text while the other two do not. I have no problem creating outlines of the document without the conditional text. Every time I try to create outlines of a page in a document with conditional text, I get the endless spinning wheel and have to force quit.

  14. Creating a catalogue with a large table FREEZING in indesign CC 2019

We've been making a large catalogue pricelist for over 13 years using indesign.

We're now stuck on the 2017 (12.1.0) version.
We want to update it, but in the latest version, importing our pricelist from excel into a table, slows the whole thing down to an unworkable speed.

    info:
the table is around 13000 rows by 10 columns. so not small.
it does import in the 2017 version. slow to import in both, but can use and work on after import in 2017 version.
2019, freezes when scroll used, and take 1-3 mins to unfreeze. Scroll again or do anything…

  16. Can't copy paste elements in Indesign 2020 - results in crash

When I try to copy some elements a message appears that I'm tryging to paste something, but I'm tryging to copy. If I press ok then it crashes. So, again, if I press CMD-C for copy, then I get the message that I'm about to paste something.. PLEASE FIX it soon - what ever it is..

  17. Adding text to "chained" anchored textframes causing complete crash when text is added to one of the first three frames

Indesign 2020, Version 15.0.1, iMac with Mac OS 10.15.1:

We have hundreds of documents created in Indesign 2019 with "chained" anchored textframes, sometimes 4, sometimes 5 frames in a row. Frames are set to automatical height adjust. When text is added to one of the first three frames causing the frame to become higher than before Indesign chrashes completely without warning. Adding text to frame 4 or 5 does NOT create a crash! Same files work perfectly under Indesign 2019. Problem occured with first version of Indesign 2020, and remains after recent update.

Would love to attach an Indesign testfile,…

  20. Index Panel's Update Preview Button Causes Hard Crash

The Index panel will cause InDesign to crash if you click the update preview button when a three-layer index entry has no text in the second layer.

I figured out what causes the crash with 100% reproducable results. Here's how you do it.

    1) Create a multi-document book.
    2) Open one document in the book.
    3) Create an index entry with three layers. For example, 'dogs > breed > beagle'.
    4) Open a different document in the book.
    5) Repeat step 3 in this different document, with the same entry data.
    6) In the Index panel you will see two…
