package folder name
INDD 15.1, Mac OS 10.15.5
With the 15.1 update, when packaging a file, the folder name is no longer highlighted. I, like most people, delete the word "Folder" that INDD adds to the packaged folder name. In previous versions, the folder name was highlighted in the package window so that hitting the right arrow would move the cursor to the end allowing one to delete "Folder." Now one has to click into the name field to change it. This release has added an extra step. Please revert to how it used to work. Or better yet, stop adding "Folder" to…3 votes -
package file name period
When packaging an InDesign file, if the filename contains a period, all characters after the period do not become written in the new package folder.
For example, if I package a file that is named "Project 06.16.20", the new package folder will be named "Project 06."
It should be named "Project 06.16.20" but for some reason, the name after the initial period gets ignored. User must type in the rest manually.

InDesign CC 2020 - Error trying to package editorial projects
the last few days Ive been trying to package documents and I keep getting the same error (for whatever editorial project I have) that says "Indesign cannot package the document... Cannot copy necessary linked file(s)" (see printscreen) but all files are properly linked, in CMYK and 300dpi's (as I need them to be - never encounter this issue in over a decade of using Indesign) so Im kinda despairing here since Im on a schedule...
Does anyone know how to help please??
Thanks in advance.3 votes -
Creep leaves a white gap
Print to Booklet does have a creep setting, to compensate for paper thickness in a saddle stitched booklet. But there is a problem is on the coverpages, since the added creep leaves a white gap on the 'back' where the staples are placed, even when the document has enough bleed to fill this space.

Typo in ID print settings. Adobe ID -> Print -> Setup -> Paper Size, in the dropdown it should say ‘SRA3’ but it now says ‘<‘

ID - CMYK separation preview vs. RGB illustrations
Hey there,
every InDesign Version (my Version Adobe InDesign CC 2018 13.1)
a) open new print CMYK document
b) place a Ai object like .eps or .ai with RGB modus (with a black element – in RGB 0/0/0 – but in CMYK 88/79/65/93)
c) now copy the object and convert the same object into CMYK modus and place them too
d) start the CMYK separation preview in InDesign and disable the black color
e) at the end only the CMYK object is separated and the RGB object is totally awayI wish the RGB object would separated like the rectangle –…

Indesign doesn´t load printer configuration
When I try to print and go to printer preferences, InDesign does not load the preferences saved in the driver for printing modes, paper sizes, etc. It is an Epson SC-P800.

When stepping an repeating
Not really a bug, but would make more sense to put the dimensions before the number to step or have it default to a blank palette every time. If the values exceed the page then it automatically converts it back to the previous numbers. While it's an easy fix, it is still frustrating. Still, indd by far one of my faves of all time. Very artist friendly!

Print files do not get overwritten.
Whether i'm trying to overwrite a print file created with PDF or .vps using ID 2022 (17.4.1) through the XMPie plugin compatible for this version, it will not overwrite a previous PDF or .vps. This is a very frustrating issue since I've had to update to 2022. the only way around this is to delete the old PDF or .vps prior to running the new /updated print file, which is time consuming step. I constantly have to check time stamps to be certain that the files I send to our presses is the most current files needed, especially if a…

Generating traceable and dynamic QR codes
Currently, creating codes with InDesign is very simple, but limiting. In fact, it is not possible to trace the code or modify it once it is printed.
To create dynamic QR codes, with modifiable links after printing, it is necessary to rely on third-party websites, such as QR code generator, which however requires a paid subscription.
If instead we simply want to trace a link, we can upload it to BITLY... but always outside Adobe.
It would be useful to have all this already included in Adobe, maintaining the ease of creation, the possibility of modifying the link once your…

Printing Documents with VFs directly from InDesign is broken, need to export to PDF first
Hello support team!
We at Dalton Maag noticed that we couldn't print documents containing variable fonts directly from InDesign 16.3 on macOS Big Sur. Export to a PostScript file produces a broken file. The document needs to be exported to PDF first. We found this issue on our client font but managed to reproduce it with Source Serif VF from https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-serif/releases/tag/4.004R.I sent the following files to Josh Hadley at Adobe:
- A ZIP containing test documents, a broken exported PostScript file and a correctly exported PDF file
- An AVI showing how we tested
- A JPG showing what comes out…

packaged files not preserving paths
In latest release of Adobe InDesign 16.2.1 for Mac 10.14.6, an issue occurred when updating a file PACKAGED from an earlier version of InDesign.
Issue was:
Document contained tifs and jpgs that contained work paths. In original document, work paths had been used to clip the images.
However, when document was PACKAGED and then opened in ID16.2.1, the paths have not been preserved. They are still in the photoshop file and can be updated by replacing or relinking the image and showing image options to apply the path information, but this is potentially a catastrophic issue for providers like ourselves…2 votes -
No preset options showing in InDesign when trying to output high res pdf
Yes, I'm trying to output a high res pdf for print and I'm attempting to apply the usual Colour conversion / Destination and only offered either CMYK or RGB as an option.
No other presets. E.G Working CMYK- Coated FOGRA39 etc.
Any suggestions anyone.. on How I can fix? I have already Uninstalled InDesign 16.1 and then reinstalled. I tried outputting to pdf in Photoshop it seems fine - all options showing.
I looked in Library in Presets and there only seems to be a in Alias see attached2 votes -
15.1 and 15.1.1 Locking up and freezing when opening packaged files
Same bug that we had with CS6.
Basically if a Document Fonts folder exists, then opening the INDD file takes forever and/or freezes up constantly while working. But if we rename the subfolder or delete it altogether, then ID performs normally.

Packaging dialogue location default
Please have the document packaging dialogue default to the folder the InDesign file your packaging from is located in. Up till InDesign 2020 this was the default, now it is packaging things wherever something was saved last.

spotcolor name in x-4 exported pdf not a valid utf-8 string
When creating a PDF using german umlauts using InDesign for OS X and export the file as PDF/X-4, the Umlauts are displayed correctly in Acrobat for OS X, but wrong in Acrobat for Windows (and vice versa).
Acrobat Preflight flags the spot colors as " not a valid UTF-8 string"
It looks like the spot colors is generated with the coding of the respective OS, which is not valid by the PDF/X-4 specification

lexmark printer not printing all elements
We use Lexmark Laser Printer model CS820
Windows 10 OSWe use our indesign file as a template to print custom certificates.
We change the name on the certificate for each customer.
The printer will not print all elements of a design: i.e. the images and text are missing. And
Files will often not print immediately but will 'sit' in the printer memory for up to several minutes before printing.
For a print business this is not acceptable. Please advise with working solutions.
We have a Lexmark CS827 and this works fine.
