Parent Text Frame Offset when Autoflowing Text
When autoflowing text, the parent page text frame is being offset on every new page that's automatically added.
In the attached screenshot, the top page was manually added and text autoflowed into it from the previous page. The parent text frame is positioned as per the top page.
InDesign versions 17 to 19 (2022 to 2024).
Expect parent page text frame to be in the position it is in on the parent page.
Actual result: text frame is offset and has to be repositioned on every page manually.1 vote -
Format replacements are not counted (0 replacement(s) done when formats are changed)
Searching for double line breaks and changing the indentation to 0. It says 0 replacement(s) done, but the condition is in fact found, and the "first indent" is indeed set to 0. See attached screen shots.
Is this behaviour deliberate, since no text contents is changed, only formatting?1 vote -

Bug: Conditional text not shown as underlined when text is marked otherwise
Version: Indesign 17.x on Windows 10
Problem: Sometimes text is being marked in bright yellow by Indesign. This is something related to character spacing and hyphenation and set. If that text is also set to be conditional, the underlines are not shown. In the attached picture you see it. This is a continuous conditional text.1 vote -

Conditional text paste problem
I use conditional text quite a bit… it’s a really useful feature.
However, if you have to edit the text there is an issue (for me anyway). If you “type” new/replacement text everything is fine. But more often than not I am pasting text from a marked UP PDF or an email or Word file… when you paste, it automatically defaults to unconditional, even though what it is replacing is all a specific condition. Is that a bug? Or is it just me?

Text wrap around anchored objects needs to work according to settings. It is inconsistent and erratic.
Text wrap refuses to wrap properly around my anchored objects regardless of anchor placement in the paragraph or text wrap offset settings.
This causes the object to overlap the text and/or have inconsistent margin offset around the object. It's erratic and inconsistent among the various objects, even though they all have the exact same object style applied.
Some of the objects wrap a little better than others - at least they're not overlapping on top of text - but the wrap margins are still inconsistent. Not a single object wraps how I believe it should based on the style attributes…

Bug: Find/replace fonts doesn't work on hidden conditional text
Version: Indesign 17.x
Problem: when opening a document that reports a missing fonts, replacing all instance with "Replace all" buttons might not work or not replace all when the text is conditional and currently hidden.
It's understandable that "Find first" cannot work on hidden text, because that would mean to reveal it, but "Replace" all wouldn't jump to any text part in the document, so it should work.1 vote -
Paste without formatting option disappeared, CTRL+Shift+V not working
There was previously an option to Paste with Formatting and Paste Without Formatting, and after recent updates, the options have disappeared and paste functioning is working incorrectly. I used both of these functions for various reasons, and would greatly appreciate it coming back! I could use CTRL+Shift+V to paste without formatting, or, if I clicked into a text box and right clicked, there were for options: Cut | Copy | Paste | Paste Without Formatting. Now, only the first three appear as options and I've lost the fourth function. There are times when I WANT to paste with formatting, though…

Default underline position misinterprets font’s specification
InDesign interprets the underline position as the center of the line (from which the "thickness" extends outward), whereas the OpenType spec calls for it to be the top of the line (from which the thickness extends downward). This causes inconsistencies with other application’s interpretation of the same font’s metadata.
See here:
https://docs.microsoft.com/de-de/typography/opentype/spec/post#headerQuote:
underlinePosition
This is the suggested distance of the top of the underline from the baseline (negative values indicate below baseline).
The PostScript definition of this FontInfo dictionary key (the y coordinate of the center of the stroke) is not used for historical reasons. The value of the…

European characters recognized as Kanjis in composite fonts
I'm editing a Chinese document containing certain European characters such as ē and í.
I've created a composite font that uses Roboto for numbers and latin alphabets, and Noto Sans CJK for the Chinese characters.Recently I noticed some of the European characters are incorrectly recognized as Kanjis, and are set to Noto Sans CJK instead of Roboto.
By testing my composite font settings, I confirmed that these misbehaving characters are being recognized as Kanjis (the top row in the composite font window).
- InDesign version: 17.3
- Create a composite font as shown in Screen Shot 1
- I expect all European…

Paragraph Borders appearing incorrectly between paragraphs at top/bottom of page
InDesign 17.3 (2022) running on an Apple M1 chip
When several adjacent paragraphs have the same border settings, the treatment of borders at the top/bottom of the page vary depending on whether the pages break BETWEEN paragraphs, or WITHIN paragraphs. They should function the same.
In the attached screenshot, query-bordersappearing.png is incorrect (ACTUAL RESULT).
The rules should disappear as seen in query-bordersnotappearing.png (EXPECTED RESULT, even if the page break falls between paragraphs).
The only difference between the two screenshots is I pulled up the bottom of the box on the left-hand page to force the text to break within a…

Mark positioning (GPOS) went wrong for text on path
Khmer rendering has been working well on most of the Adobe products. InDesign is one of them, especially after the fix: https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/36534535-khmer-script-justification-is-broken.
However, I've just noticed that there is another bug with GPOS for Khmer (or maybe other scripts), when the text is on a path.
InDesign Version: 17.1
Composer: World-ready
Text: គុណតម្លៃរបស់យើង ស្ត្រី កន្លោង

There does not seem to be a way to activate the Japanese Paragraph composer in the English version of InDesign
I am an native English speaker and use InDesign primarily in English. I sometimes have projects in other languages; i actually read a fair bit of Japanese and noticed that the lines were breaking even wtih World-ready paragraph composer turned on. I then learned that InDesign has both Japanese paragraph and single-line composers, whhich appear to be accessible in PREFERENCES under Advanced Type, but this does not seem to do anything I need done with the text.
i was told I must install the Japanese language version of InDesign to apply this feature. It would be wonderful if that would…
