cursor stuck on pencil
When I open a certain file, the cursor is stuck on the pencil tool. I can't select any objects in the file. The cursor still operates menu selections, but doesn't work inside the document.

Naming layers in the docked layers panel and naming things in paragraph styles details box

I also have problems in naming things in some particular panels like the Paragraph styles details box when i want to create a nested style and type the exact word i want the style to stop
(see screen capture) i manage to click it but it's like magic clic and clic and clic... sometimes work sometimes not... i'm getting crazy with it and loos a lot of time.Thank you for updating

Everything on artboard goes to bitmap intermittently
Running iD (15.1.3) on Windows 7 - Don't laugh this isn't my machine but the one I have to work on. grrrr!
Every now and again the entire artboard contents and surrounds (not the UI), changes to low resolution resulting in something resembling a scene from the game Minecraft, fonts images imported vector graphics etc. This is only on inDesign, no other program, so it's not a system or graphics card error. The attached image shows up as all bitmapped but tin reality it's just the artboard that goes pear shaped. Is there a fix for this or is it…1 vote -
character style list flashes but won't open
Sometimes, ID gets into a state where the Character Style drop-down list will not drop down. I can click either the list item itself or the little [v] button to its right, nothing happens. If I click it again, the screen will just flash open the list for just an instant, but it will not drop down the list and let me select from it. The only workaround is to use View › Character Styles, which slows me down quite a bit, because I usually leave the View › Paragraph Styles window open.

Create new folder / Open containing folder BUG

control palette disappears
When the system comes out of screen saver or sleep mode, the Control palette has disappeared. The only way to make it visible again is to quit and restart the program. InDesign Version 16.1, macOS 10.14.6 Mojave, 2013 MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013). Two monitors: built-in retina display 15.4-inch (2880 x 1800) with NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2 GB graphics and 19.5-inch (1920 x 1080) DELL D2015H Display also using NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2 GB graphics. Problem seems to be related to the use of two monitors.

Incorrect Keyboard-Shortcut for "New Document"

Open InDesign. Type on keyboard: command N
Should create and open a new empty document
Nothing happens
At the same time:
2. Open InDesign. Type on keyboard: option command N
3. Nothing whould happen

UI does not scale - hard to use with people who have differing vision abilities
Unable to scale UI in InDesign 2021. I have poor eyesight and am unable to see the menus and tools.

Problem with Keyboard Shortcuts
On a Mac [10.14.6] I set the F8 key to bring up the Paragraph Style Option box [image attached]. With the most recent update the F8 key does not work unless I have the Paragraph Style Panel open [image attached]. This is an obscure bug but it just means I need one more panel open to access the F8 shortcut. This short cut has worked for a zillion years until now. I hope this is of assistance. Thanks.

Emailing a document video won't go away
Opening a saved document and a 'helpful tip' video clip about emailing a document is stuck in the middle of the screen and won't close or go away, can't click on it and nothing works to get rid of it.

type tool behaves as selection tool
Hello guys, I'm experimenting this issue in which the Type tool is behaving as the selection tool.
Instead of selecting text, by double-clicking or click and drag, it just moves the text frame around. Double click is not highlighting the text either.
I'm running Indesign 16.1.0.20 on Big Sur 11.2.1

try to move the inDesign app windows on another monitor

- the indesign app windows is moving in the big monitoractual results
- it doesn't move
- just the document windows is moving on the other monitornote : if i disconnect the iPad in sidecar of the system preferences, it works

Recents on Home screen Ability to pin indesign projects on the home landing screen
A frustration with indesign and an opportunity to improve. As a user of indesign I want to be able to pin certain projects I am working on and see them on the landing home screen. (Currently I have to rely on win folders to store projects).
So that I can easily locate projects that are of value and referenced not so regularly

New Share tutorial animation loops continuously when opening ID, with no affordance to terminate.
When opening the application, ID can dramatically improve the user experience and the opportunity to show new features (in this case, the new Share feature) by giving the user a choice to opt-into learning about a said new feature by presenting the user with a [yes | no | maybe later | never show again] dialog message.

set default open folder
Upgraded to ID 16.0.1x64 today on a Win 10 64 system. File Open, or File Save, both want to use "This PC > Documents" and not the original file folder. Didn't have this problem prior to the upgrade.
How can I set the default file open folder?

Option-Click and Drag
InDesign 16.0.1. (and prior)
I updated to Catalina OS on Mac. Option-Click no longer works as it should. It is supposed to straight duplicate one time. Now it is acting as a step and repeat and is creating 2 duplicates instead of one. Please help. I can't find how to fix this.
