[ID-4273763] Indesign 21.0.2 packaging not compatible on macOS 26 Tahoe
Indesign 21.0.2 packaging fails on machines updated to macOS 26 Tahoe.
When a file is packaged an error message is returned, indicating an error when copying links.
This error does not appear when the same file is packaged on a system using an older mac OS. (Sonoma 14.6.1)Our team has checked all linked files for corrupt files, errors in naming, missing links - there are none of these errors across our files.
This is a recurring error for any Indesign version 21.02.2 and older on machines updated to macOS 26 Tahoe. We have tried various files on various computers, recieving the same error each time.

I can confirm this bug using inDesign 21.2
on MacOS 26.3.1
with files saved on Synology NAS with DSM DSM 7.3.2-86009 Update 1,
connected via SMB 3.Apparently there are several approaches:
1. downgrading macOS an inDesign. Not an option because of newer file formats. This would also impact other services and apps.
2. changing local SMB config, turning off "streams" and "unix extensions".
streams=no
unix extensions=no
Might work but I have not tested this because a) I would have to do this on a whole bunch of machines, b) turning off streams makes finder tags invisible (which we rely on), c) turning off unix extensions apparently slows the system down (a bit). The second one is a deal breaker. Then there's connecting via AFP. It's slower, but packing works. Not ideal, because AFP is deprecated. So now it's regular work via SMB, and then reconnect via AFP to package.
Quite annoying, also not sustainable because we don't know when the next update comes that kills AFP entirely. Also, security concerns. -

By process of elimination we found the cause to be a single image on our server which needed to be resaved, and user was able to package as normal. Why there was a 'problem' with the image with Tahoe Macs when it is fine on Sequoia is unclear.

I am using a VPN, Endpoint, to connect to our server and have the same issues.

Same here. Just updated INDD to 22.2, with Tahoe 26.2 and it refused to package.
Tried to roll back to INDD 21.2 and still occurred.
The problem was that my links were on a server that I connected to. When I moved all the images onto my local drive it worked fine. INDD 22.2 must not like the new connection utility of Tahoe 26.2. -

Same here with macOS 26.2 and InDesign 21.1 – worked with macOS 15.7.2. No Links missing.
Permissions have ben checked (they were okay), but also deleted and reset again.
I can open, place and use everything from the NAS, just as packaging starts, Indesign does not want to. -

Yep, I had the same error when trying to create the package.
NOTE: no missing links from my side.

I've seen this and it could be a permissions issue, which happens with each OS upgrade. Where are the links located and did you give permission for InDesign to access those folders? Check System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files & Folders. Or grant InDesign full disk access.
