book file don't work

Hi,

unfortunately it looks like the book file isn't work anymore with InDesign CC 2018.1 in Windows 10.

On my Mac it is working! I have attached two hardcopies (the one with correct page numbers is from Mac, the other from Windows 10 pro).

Obviously I tried to create a new book file and added files manually – same result.

As a result all cross-references between documents are wrong.

Any ideas?

Ulrich

We’ve tried to reproduce the issue you’ve mentioned. It is working as expected.
Could you elaborate a bit more on the exact steps you are doing when you see the problem? If you could also attach a small demo movie, that’ll be even more helpful.

Thanks,
Adobe InDesign team

    Hi Ulrich,
did you check the Options for Numbering of your book file?

    German:
    Seitennummerierungsoptionen für Buch

    Optionen > Seitenabfolge

    [x] Von vorherigem Dokument fortfahren
[ ] Auf nächster ungerader Seite fortfahren
[ ] Auf nächster gerader Seite fortfahren

    [ ] Leere Seite einfügen

[x] Seitenzahlen und Abschnittsnummerierung automatisch aktualisieren

It could be, that the last option in this list is unchecked.

I use Windows 7 and InDesign 13.1 for assembly instructions with more than 100 pages which are full of cross-references to pages and images. When choosing the menu "cross-references", an empty window appears and it needs minutes (!) until the attributes of a selected cross-reference are shown. This is a catastrophe for all my documents / my work. Any help possible?

    Thank you, Carin

I have had this happen though not recently. I work on a Mac but it is possible that the files came from a colleague who works on a PC. It appears that, in Layout > Numbering and Section Options …, Start Page Numbering was reset to 1 for a number of the files in the book. This is easy to fix manually but it is annoying that one has to do so.

    Hi Ulrich,
you could upload your screen recording to e.g. Dropbox and post the download link here.
