Hi,
Myself Sanyam Talwar from InDesign Engineering team, I am currently investigating the current issue.During our analysis of issue mentioned in the thread, we found that you had reported a crash with an older release of InDesign.

Update: I uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign CC and it's working GREAT — knock on wood. :)

I'm still having this issue, and I've been using the craziest work arounds to get my jobs done..
If i need to edit text within a table, and don't need to edit the actual table, I use Find/Change (Command+F) and I edit this way, changing styles, text, etc. using Find Format / Change Format capabilities.
My issue is completely with tables. All table options are greyed out, even the ability to use the Tables Panel (Window > Type &Tables) and still the Tables option is greyed out.
I'm on a Mac (Sierra, Version 10.12.6) and I'm using the latest version of InDesign CC 2018.
I should add that co-workers can open and edit the same tables in these files without fail. This happens with every file, new document, etc.
Any advice is so much appreciated.

Same problem here. I try to change the font of text that's already in my document and it just reverts back to Times New Roman in my font picker dropdown. I try to change the font when creating a new section of text before or after creating the font space and it again reverts back to Times New Roman. Multiple times InDesign also just flat-out crashes on me.
I am using InDesign CC, latest updates have been applied from just a few days ago.

It won't let me change the font at all. It just crashes. I thought at first, it's the font issue, but when I tried several different fonts, it still crashes. I am using Mac on Sierra with the latest indesign.

I have been having this problem as well.
At first, the program wasn't even recognizing when I tried to select a table (move cursor near the edges of the table until the arrow shows so you can highlight a row). Since updating to the latest CC2018, the program recognizes my cursor, but as soon as it touches the text within the table, ID crashes.
Please help :( This is horrible.

I am using the latest version of InDesign and I have a similar problem. It crashes quite often when I change font, even only one word is selected! Please advice. FYI, not any specific document, it can happen to any document I am working on.
