  1. InDesign crashes when editing text

    21.5" iMac with 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    macOS High Sierra version 10.13.6
    12 GB RAM
    360+ GB of hard disk space

    When attempting to copy text from a word document into 28 Mb file in InDesign, InDesign freezes... endless spinning color wheel. Problem is persistent - every time I try to copy a paragraph of text. It even occurred when I tried typing the paragraph of text.

    Tried updating InDesign CC
    Tried uninstalling and reinstalling
    Tried using Story Editor to edit text box.

  2. I lost all Save, Save As, Undo functionality (everything is grayed out). To save my work, I have to export as an IDML .

    Lost all Save, Save As, Undo functionality while working.
    To save my work, the only thing to do is to export as an IDML file. Force quitting to recover the file doesn't work. This has been happening to me since InDesign 5.5. I am currently using InDesign CC 2018. There are no particular steps, it happens at random. I can have several files open and it only happens to one file, or sometimes it's more than one file. It happens whether I'm working off of my Desktop or on our server.

    As part of the investigation into the cause of this issue, we personally reached out to many of you over email. We have so far heard from only some of you.

    Of the responses we have received, the conclusion we’ve come to is:
    This issue was intermittent, happened once during the course of work but somehow got resolved and has not happened again. This issue can’t be reproduced now.

    Over a period of time, this thread has not thrown any fresh clues on why this issue seems to occur randomly for some and then seems to resolve itself. So we’re closing this thread.

    However, even though we’re closing this thread, if you again run into this issue any time on a consistent basis, please report it here on UserVoice (in a new thread) with supporting assets like:
    A) a test file,
    B) detailed steps to replicate the issue
    C) any…

    I tried uninstalling and re-installing, nothing works. Is there a fix?

    This problem is causing work deadlines to fail.

    Is there a way to completely erase all traces of Indesign CC 2019 from my Mac and start fresh?

  4. Start freeze

    When I start InDesign 2019 a pop-up appears that's white. After a while the Adobe logo appears and the loading icon. But that's it. No other menu entries are active

  5. Idml export issues

    I have a file that won't export a fully formed .idml file. Here's my setup.

    MacOS Mojave 10.14.4
    InDesign 14.0.2.324

    Steps to reproduce: export or save one particular file as .idml format; open resulting .idml file.

    Expected result: file should open as a new document.

    Actual result: an error dialog pops up saying the file cannot be opened, with the error 'not well formed.'

    This only occurs with one particular file, but it occurs on any Mac used to export the file, and with InDesign version 14.0.3

  6. CC Libraries panel crashes on right-click

    Whenever right-clicking on any item in the CC Libraries panel, the panel crashes. Rebooting computer, restarting InDesign, and resetting preferences did not fix the issue.

  7. 3 types of consistent crashes during past 3 months

    Using version 14.0.2 x64 under Windows 10.

    Working on a 356-page book. Three types of crashes occur consistently:

    1 - When I export to PDF.
    2 - When I add pages, usually in increments of 10.
    3 - When I switch between single-page layout and 2-page spread layout.

    After every crash, when I go to open the file, inDesign offers to auto recover the file. When I say yes, InDesign warns me that the file might be corrupt. I always open anyway. After 3 months working on this book, I can't afford to start over, so I hope for the…

  9. Slow start opening files or switching between apps

    The last Indesign version 14.0.1. on my iMacPro 3,2 GHz Intel Xeon W (Radeon Pro Vega 56) running Mojave (10.14.3) shows the rainbow wheel on every startup and on every time switching apps (via command + tab) takes about 30 seconds - impossible to work!

  10. crash

    For several days we've had crashes while Indesign CC 2019 (14.0.01) being idle. Might be because links (*.psp and/or *.indd) are breaking due to network issues, but should not crash even so, just say links are broken. This has resulted in several files corrupted and cannot be restored even if those documents themselves are not affected by the broken links. The Indesign temp-files also seem to become corrupt (often showing 0 byte size).

    I've sent several crash reports and heard nothing.

  12. InDesign 14.0.1 is crashing hourly

    For three days my InDesign 14.0.1 has been crashing almost exactly hourly. It just freezes and I get the spinning beachball. Only recourse is to re-start my Mac. I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. Prior to this, I had downloaded Lightroom... I thought this might have been the initial cause. I uninstalled Lightroom and all my Adobe products. Any ideas?

  13. storing files on desktop

    Not an idea, but a problem...InDesign support is telling me that I need to store my customer's book (a catalog) on my desktop AND all the associated images...that's impossible...there are over 1300 images in this 180 page book.
    ID crashed three consecutive times today trying to open the book to change the dates which appear on the master pages...I'm using the most updated version of creative cloud in a windows 10 environment...
    Any ideas of how to fix this? InDesign seems like a very unstable software to have come from a premier (and premium) software company like Adobe.

  14. hyperlinks missing or corrupt when opening CC2017 documents into CC2019

    InDesign files opened from CC2017 (They were on our backup server from a job 3 years ago) using InDesign 14.0.2 x64 on Win10 64bit (CC2019) -
    They open fine without any issue except the hyperlinks - they are all broken/corrupt. When doubleclicking on one, it is effectively blank, as if I were making a new one.
    I tried saving as .idml and reloading, but it was still the same. How can I get these hyperlinks back to normal? Do I have to reinstall CC2017 again (is that even possible?).

  15. InCopy crashes while saving document or checking in

    InCopy 14.4, MacOS 10.14.4
    InCopy document crashes all the time while saving or checking in a document.
    The document contains a lot of comments and cross references to other documents.
    I have already tried to copy all content into a new document. This does not help.
    I cannot work further on the document, so I need assistance!

  20. Shortkeys causing program to freeze

    Hi, I'm using the latest Indesign CC on my windows 10 laptop
    Indesign keeping freezing and doesn't recover when i use any shortcut keys.
    E.g ctrl E to export a PDF will crash the program, so i need to go the long way of file - export etc

    We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

    We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.
