  1. [macOS Sonoma]White Screen on drawing marquee/highlighting text in CPU and Overprint Preview modes

    Hi,

    Since I've updated my mac mini to Sonoma, when I use InDesign, the documents flash every time I click on it. If I click and hold, the screen become completely white. This is very annoying, almost impossible to work.

    Hi everyone,

    This issue started to happen with the latest macOS Sonoma. We have raised this with Apple to see if they can fix this in one of their upcoming updates of macOS Sonoma.

    Since this is dependent on a fix from Apple, we request your patience while we work with them to find resolution for this issue.

    Meanwhile, if possible, try to attach a High Resolution Monitor (like a 4K, 5K) to your Mac machine & switch to GPU (gets enabled by default) as the GPU feature is available when your Mac machine has a compatible GPU and it is attached to a High Resolution monitor. If any of these conditions are not met, GPU feature is disabled..

  2. Adobe InDesign 2024(v19.0) - Users are facing issues while scrolling using Trackpad/Touchpad

    I have installed the upgrade to Adobe InDesign 2024 (build 19.0) while keeping version 2023 (build 18.5) and have encountered the following problem:

    • After opening a document, the mouse scroll wheel does not seem to work (i.e. it is not possible to scroll up or down the contents of a page). However, this condition still works in InDesign version 2023.

    Has anyone encountered the same problem and found a solution?

  3. 18.4 and 18.5 exported PDF corrupted

    Hi guys,

    Our books are printed in house with Xerox Nuvera 288 Presses. We recently faced this issue, and tho it should be addressed in 18.5 updated, we're still facing the same problem in 18.4 with 18.5 (Images attached below) where the whole book is printed out, but have left a single page blank.

    In this example, this page 85 went blank every time we ran it through the press when exported with 18.4 and 18.5, but got no problem with 18.3. This error also happened to 9 out of 10 book titles (exported with 18.4 and 18.5) that we…

  4. When you wake up, open documents are not visible on the external monitor. Everything is just greyed out.

    If I put my MacBook Pro to sleep with work on an external monitor, when I turn it on at another place with an external monitor, all open documents are grayed out and do not display any object. The objects are selectable, but I can't see what's in them. Switching display modes, minimizing or dragging between displays doesn't help either.

  5. Copy and Paste from Share for Review Comments panel not working

    You used to be able to copy/paste directly from the REVIEW panel COMMENT when you recieve feedback. Now it wont allow you to copy what someone has reviewed and suggested as replacement text. This is very important as it makes it much more efficient to copy it from within InDesign rather than swapping between screens to do it from the browser. Please can you fix this! Thank you!

  6. PAC 2021 Error for InDesign generated PDF : Object reference not set to an instance of an object

    I am still getting Object reference not set to an instance of an object when testing pdf files in PAC 21. This error apparently relates to 'PDF Export using ZIP compression for images shows an “Insufficient data for an image” error on opening in Acrobat.

    This was supposed to be fixed in ID 18.5 but its now happening with every PDF I check for accessibility, even a single page with simple text.

    Working for local government and its imperative our PDF files exported from ID are fully accessible and tested. Seek an urgent fix.

  7. Adobe InDesign 2024(v19.0) - For Hebrew Text, after applying Forced line break -The character direction changes to Left-to-right direction.

    When typing a paragraph in Hebrew there is a problem when doing Forced line break. The character direction become Left-to-right direction, insted of keeping the Right-to-left direction.

  8. Panel flyout menus do not open on external displays/expanded desktops — they open only on primary display

    I keep all of my tool palettes on a secondary monitor on Mac OS (now Sonoma) running the latest version of InDesign.

    None of the flyout menus will open when the tool palettes are on a secondary display. However, I find if I drag the tool palette over to my Primary display, the flyout menus work again (until I drag them back to the external display).

  9. InDesign 2023 (18.0) Screen not refreshing

    Half the time or more, page down/up and zoom do not refresh the screen. Attempting to select something just draws the rectangle around nothing. Finally through a variety of erratic body movements, thrashing and random gestures, ID wakes up. This is a huge step backward from v17. Productivity severely hampered.

  10. Gray boxes behind photos in Share for Review

    I have been using the new Share for Review for the last little while and am enjoying receiving feedback directly on my documents for import into InDesign. However, I recently went to a published file and noticed that all of the images in my design now have a light gray square behind them. Additionally, the colours and blending on some of the images are all off or look odd. The gray boxes appear on all of my previously uploaded documents, and I've checked from multiple computers and they all appear to show these boxes.

  11. Error message "Save File Operation Failed" seen for PNG/JPEG export in Adobe InDesign 2024

    InDesign 2024 (v19.0)

    In v18.5 any design can be Exported as a JPEG or PNG.

    When I Export a design to JPEG or PNG in v19.0 then I get the "Save File Operation Failed" message and the program freezes - see attached screen shot

  12. Color Swatch Menu Closes Upon Right-Click

    1. Adobe InDesign v19.0 When I click the color swatches panel menu dropdown, the menu drops down, and I am able to edit existing swatches and I am able to add new swatches. The problem occurs when I attempt to right-click on a color or if I press the hamburger button at the top right of the panel. When I try to do either of these, the entire menu closes.

  13. Incorrect ligatures in InDesign 2024

    In Indesign 19.0.1, ligatures are replaced incorrectly in German. Comparing these with the same document in 18.5.1, where they appear correct, this appears to be a bug in the new version. One screenshot is from INDD 2023 and the other from INDD 2024.

  14. Adobe Caslon Pro: Glyph as bullet does not function

    InDesign version 18.2.1 (Windows 10 x64). I would like to use a glyph as a bullet (the opentype digit 3 of Adobe Caslon Pro - an acorn). In the paragraph style box for my "Bulleted list" style, I am trying to add the bullet. When I click "add" and then click "ok," a standard round black dot appears in my list of bullet characters to choose from.   15. PDF/X-1a運用において、危険度が高い「画像の配置方法」を発見しましたので報告させていただきます。

    Indesign （15.1.3）（16.4）（17.3）などで以下の現象を確認できます。
    表を作成し、「セルをグラフィックセルに変換」という機能を使用せずに、空のままのセル内に画像を配置します。
    配置方法は、何も選択していない状態で「ファイル」、「配置」、画像を選択して「開く」、配置先のセルをクリックといったものです。
    この配置方法でドキュメントを作成し、「プリント」より出力して確認したところ何の問題もありません。
    印刷会社へ渡すためのPDF/X-1aを「書き出し」より出力します。
    期待する結果としては、「プリント」からの出力結果と同等のPDFが作成されることです。
    実結果は、Illustratorのドロップシャドウが黒ベタに、同ぼかし効果が無効に、Photoshopのレイヤマスクが黒ベタになったPDFが作成されてしまいます。

  16. Opening documents as tabs cannot be deactivated

    Always open documents as tabs even if you have not selected this in the settings under User interface -> Open documents as tabs. I need different window sizes and find tabs impractical.

  17. When adding a list to a Right to Left Paragraph, tab leader disappers

    1. InDesign (Middle East) 18.1.0.51

    2. In a Right to Left Text Frame type a few words in a Right to Left Paragraph direction, following by tab with a period leader definition and then type a any any number so you will get dots between the last word and number (like in TOC). See in the attached image. Selceet one of the list options (numbering or bullets) to see the tab leader disaapers.

    3. Numbers or Bullets should be added at the begining without change the rest of the text.

    1. This happens in multiple versions of InDesign. I've reproduced it in ID CS 6 (8.1.0.420), ID CC 2019 (14.0.3.433), ID 2021 (16.4.0.55), and ID 2022 (17.0.0.68).

    2. Steps to reproduce:
      (1) Open InDesign
      (2) Create a new empty document
      (3) Create a text frame that is 100 mm by 100 mm
      (4) Place Text4.txt
      (5) Go Type > Story > check Optical Margin Alignment

  19. Scripts using BridgeTalk do not work on M1 Macs (regardless of CC version)

    ID version: InDesign CC 2021 (16.3.2)
    OS: macOS Big Sur 11.5.2
    Processor: Apple M1

    When I try to run a script that uses BridgeTalk and works with Photoshop, it does not work.
    Also, a simple script using BridgeTalk will not work as well.
    Those scripts do work in CC 2021 on Intel Mac and macOS Big Sur 11.5.2.

  20. Text wrapping has changed to before 2019 use textFrame based indent

    To place a graphicItem with text wrap, it is not an object-based indent like 2020, but a text frame-based indent before 2019.

    16.0.1(macOS10.14/10.15.6)

    2 Steps to reproduce the issues
    1. Make TextFrame. To places graphicItem above the textFrame and set text wrap.
    2. The indent set in the textFrame does not take effect for the object for which wrap text is set like before 2019.
