RE: Index / Table of Contents
When creating an Index, you are limited to populate ONLY one Index style format. MS Word, it is greatly inferior program, and yet you can create a General Index, a Index of Cases and Index of Figures. Indesign is the leading industry program for designers and writers, NOT MS word.
What happens if have lots of illustrations, data tables graphs and flowcharts all numbered accordingly. For example, an illustration (Figure 20 or Table 7), maybe on page 40, but there are 40 mentions throughout the document. Thus, in Indesign, you can not create a…

Hyperlinks between documents in a book file don't work
I am producing an interactive pdf with hyperlinks to move between pages within the pdf.
I am doing this using a book file containing 22 indesign documents however some of the links do not work.
All of the hyperlinks within each document work fine but any that link between the documents just send you to the first page in the book and not to the specified page.
I am using InDesign CC 13.0.1 on Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.3
I have produced interactive pdfs in this way before without any issues so this has become broken in one of the…

supscript
When building (or rebuilding) an index all the "see abc" entries using in place of "current page" have the "see" in superscript. I've written a GREP to correct, but it is annoying. Also get some random superscripts in various places in the main text.

Links on TOC doesn't work
Interactive links on the TOC does't work when I publish online or export to ePub. Even with “Create PDF Bookmarks” checked. The link itself is created, but it has no effect.
I'm using a Mac with InDesign CC 2018. (Until CC 2017 it was working fine).

Indesign
I have updated from CC 2017 to CC 2018 and opened an existing 740 page book. This is an indesign book file .INDB with 25 chapters and numerous index entries.
When I view the index panel in CC 2017 all the entries are there. Screenshot index-cc2017
When I view the same files in CC 2018 the index panel is completely empty and there is no index at all. Screenshot index-panel2018
AND YES
I rebuilt the preferences and the exact same thing happens. These screenshots were done after the pref rebuild when I noticed the problem.

Bookmark Can't Deselect
In the Bookmarks panel, when trying to set a bookmark, occasionally, a bookmark will be selected and there is no way to "deselect" it so you can create another top-level bookmark. Any bookmark you create becomes a child of the currently selected bookmark. There should be a way to deselect the current bookmark from the panel so you can add another bookmark without it being a child of the selected one.

Cannot choose "Page Number: Before Entry/No Page Number" when creating table of contents
- Version: 13.0 (macOS High Sierra)
- Steps: From a new document, choose Layout > Table of Contents, from "Page Number" drop down, choose "Before Entry" or "No Page Number".
- Expected result: change to "Before Entry" or "No Page Number".
- Actual result: Stays at "After Entry" - no change happens

Every time I create a table of content document in my book and save it in the book, it become unopenable afterwards.
The table of contents document in my book continues to fail over and over again. I have recreated it 4 times today.

Export from book file default to wrong filetype
CC 2017 12.0.0.81
Using the regular export menu, export an interactive PDF. That becomes the default. But now I want to export a Print PDF from the book panel, it keeps defaulting back to interactive PDF. So to make its I don't have to remember to choose Print PDF (for every single export), I have to first export a random Print PDF using the regular export menu, just to switch the default in the Export Selected files to PDF option. The two export locations: File > Export and using the flight from the Book panel, shouldn't be tied together. They…
