Link OS Work Documents
Currently only supports linking to Excel docs for Tables which also loses all table formatting and Header ID. This feature is in need of an update overall and inclusion of the Mac programs would be very helpful.

Add Keep With Previous/Next Rows to Cell Styles
It is often necessary to keep a subtotal row together with one or two preceding rows, or to keep a subtitle/header row together with one or two following rows.
This is already possible manually via the Keep With option in Cell Options, but having it available as a Cell Style option would make table formatting much more efficient and consistent.2 votes -
set width of a real gap between columns in a table
Setting a column/cell stroke to "paper" does not make a real gap between columns, when the table is on a colored background.
Please add a "gap width between columns" to your table/cell formatting.

Merge Across
In Excell, you can highlight several columns and there is an option to "Merge Across" where it will merge each row individually for the entire column. I'm working with a list of items that includes some html tags that InDesign treated as tabs, so it turned them into extra columns. In order to get them back to what they should be, I'm forced to merge each row individually, whereas this feature would allow me to highlight the original and extra columns and merge them all at once, keeping them in each of their rows.

Include Paragraph Styles in Table Styles
There needs to be a way of assigning paragraph styles to header rows and individual columns, not just cell styles/table styles. For example, I have a paragraph style for each of three columns in the table's header row, One for the Item Category, Regular Price heading, and Effective (sale) Price Heading. Then I have four paragraph styles for the rest of the table based on the column, one for item number, one for item description, then of course the style for regular price adn effective (sale) price. I should be able to include these paragraph styles in the table style,…

paragraph alignment
Paragraph alignment is not displaying correctly when it is used on tables created in previous files, even though you are in a new or an old document. The only way to do it is by using cell insets on the properties tab. So it makes it useless unless you create new tables with new formats. It would be great to fix this bug so the alignments are displayed in the paragraph alignment tab, and make cell insets a new tab so I can see specifically this option on the main windows.

Span Table Across Columns
If you create a table, why can you not span the table across columns? For instance, if you create a table and span it across two columns, the text in the right column overwrites the table, regardless of table spacing. It appears to be fault or flaw in the table options menu. If you decide to make the table as its own text frame — you lose the flowing table feature. Please see sample—I have exaggerated the table spacing so you see the problem.

Apply Table Style and Cell Style on Word Import
The ability to apply table and cell styles to imported Word documents – and for them to be properly formatted and mapped to those styles rather than just have the appearance of the styles – would be extremely helpful.

Search and replace table rows/columns
I would like to be able to search, replace/remove/add (below or under, L/R) a specifik row or column within a table.
I often work with large transaction portfolios with plenty of tables in them. It's not uncommon that clients asks to change/remove a row or column in a table with a specific header/headline/label. I just removed one row on 58 spreads which could have been solved through a search and replace (or, well, remove then). Could also be able to add a row/column through a similar solution (i.e. insert a row below the row with Lorem ipsum-headline). Cheers.

I would like to know if Adobe thinks of optimizing the management of tables in InDesign for the accessibility of PDF files
When will the automatic markup of tables (gender in table styles) like we do for paragraph styles (H1, H2, H3, BlockQuotes, List)?
<TR> row
<TH> header
<TD> data
Example when you end up with one or more vertical TH "headers" so you don't have to manage that in the PDF2 votes -
Convert Table to Form
Should be a simple way to tell InDesign (and later Acrobat) that a table is a form.
Column A are the Field names, column B are the blank fields. No field recognition necessary, just spreadsheet logic. Even a dialog where you define which rows/columns are what would be a huge boost.
Would save 3 headaches: 1) not knowing if Acrobat will recognize the fields, 2) renaming each field 1-by-1, and 3) setting the text formatting 1-by-1 (Acrobat can batch this but InDesign can't).

Apply more than one cell style to a cell
With more complex tables, such as those for financial reports, the number of cell styles required becomes very slow to work with.
This is because you may want one column in one colour, another in a different colour, but then a row stroke cuts across all the columns.
At the moment, InDesign only allows you to have one cell style applied per cell. This means that when you've styled your table using one cell style, e.g. a colour, when you then add the other cell style for a row stroke, it will override the first cell style.
You then have…

Select multiple full table to edition
I would like to edit several complete tables at once, to change the cell height, text size, side spaces, alignments, among other editions.

Table border selection
When adjusting specific table border edges, targeting particular edges would be made faster if you could option-click on a line to select that line only and de-select all the other edges.
Currently you have de-select all the other edges individually.

Auto resize table when adding/removing column
Toggle an option so that when adding or removing a column in a table the column widths are restored to the total width. Now when adding or removing a column i have to manualy resize the columns until i can use 'Distribute Columns Evenly' and fill up the entire textbox again.
It also would be useful to just click 'auto resize' to equaly fill up the textbox by resizing the table.

Lock Cells in Tables
It would be nice to be able to lock a cell and prevent content from being added or edited.

Table numbering and easier cross-reference/text anchor setup in tables
It would be nice to be able to automatically number a specific row by just pressing a button, instead of using the "End Nested Style Here" command and copying/pasting in the following rows. It would also be nice if the corresponding column would read the number and be able to set up a text anchor for a paragraph number cross-reference.

Specify subheader in addition to header, body (with alternating fills) and footer
I would like the ability to have a sub-header style applied to a table style. I design tables with a title (or header), an area for the column topics (or sub-header), and then a body with alternating fills, and a footer without a fill. It would be great to be able to apply one table style that will incorporate all of those styles. See the included table as an example of what I am trying to do.

Table borders proxy: add "all"/"none" quick-select control; increase contrast of lines
To speed up formatting table borders, add a control in or near the proxy control (where you click on lines to select or deselect corresponding borders of the selected table region) to enable quickly selecting all of the borders or none of the borders.
Also, increase the contrast between the blue and gray colors used for the proxy lines as it is sometimes hard to tell the difference between them. Currently their values are almost identical (appx 60% black). Suggest lightening up the gray "unselected" color to 25-30% black.
