Could we make the Background task icon animation work harder?
The current icon appears next to the share button on the top bar when we export a PDF, what about including the percentage within the revolving circle? Saves me open the tab to check for bigger docs. Thanks!

A preset to limit your FONT view to preferred language, such as the one chosen by OS/region.
I have to use Noto Sans; Its required by my work at my University.
Is there a way to limit your font view to preferred language chosen by OS/region. My font menu is a mess of languages and it's hard to navigate to choose just "Noto Sans." Try it... really.. Try and Type "Noto Sans"... I never get the one I type it's always one of the other languages versions.
- So when a user choose their working language, InDesign offer them the right set of font.
Font lists are wayyyy tooooooo long to contain all the wolds languages by default!…

Plug-in API to temporarily disable new feature guided tours
InDesign 2025 has several new panels (History, Math Expressions, Export to Adobe Express, Insert MathML) which have associated guided “tours” which bring up windows containing animation and/or an explanation of the new feature and how to use it. The menu items for these new panels that have available guided tours are indicated by a blue dot next to the menu item before the guided tour is viewed by the user. Pasteboard automatically resizes to larger content
use ai for something helpful like automatically resizing the pasteboard when larger content is drug onto it... (don't give me an error message when i'm too close to the edge) resize the pasteboard to encompass the content

Make background progress more visible
When InDesign is busy with a long running task, it isn't obvious without opening the rather janky Background Tasks window. Please add a small progressbar in the footer of the InDesign indicating that it is actually doing something and not just hung. I've used InDesign for years and only just now learned that the Background Tasks window exists. It's a very bizarre and non-obvious approach to showing the user that something is still happening in the background...

Group/Organize Parent Pages
It would be very helpful for larger documents if I had the ability to group/organize the parent pages in their panel. I am currently working on an urban planning document where each section of the master plan (parks, housing, wastewater, etc...) has a different colored footer and chapter page, so I have 8 different footer parent pages and 8 different chapter pages, on top of the 10 or so general layout parent pages I create for our urban planners to use as templates. Create a text variable window to see and edit values faster
Right now you have to open each variable independently. Then if you want to change the value you have to save and exit each variable. Also you have to open each variable to see the value.
Please create a Text Variable Window with two columns. One for the Name the other for the value. This way we can see the variable and edit the variable. Add the add icon, and add duplicate variable icon.

Allow to resize the Keyboard Shortcuts window
Please make the Keyboard Shortcuts window resizable!
Namely, to make it taller.
Right now it's just too small and requires a lot of annoying scrolling to find the desired menu item.

Put Distribute Spacing icons in the Control Bar
I use these controls along with the align controls every day. There's no reason they can't be grouped together with the align controls in the control bar.
I keep all my tool palettes on a second monitor, so the Align buttons in the control bar are 30" away from the Distribute Spacing icons in the Properties panel of the second monitor.

It is very troublesome to select fonts
It is very troublesome to select fonts from a list when managing a large number of fonts. Also, even when selecting font names by typing, it is difficult to select candidates if there is a typing error.

grid edit quick access from properties panel
alt+doubleclick is learned behaviour to edit links, for example. I would love to see this work on the properties panel, esp to tweak the grid settings, internally llinking to the preferences UI. That would save a lot of time and be quite simple to implement.
I use about 2/3 of the CC products regularly and the heterogeneous ui functionality drives me batty. in psd i click on the number and drag, in ai it takes three clicks to do the same. WHY?!?

Turn off preflight by default
Since we work via Internet-connection, working with longer documents is a mess because after every move you make, the preflight check starts over and over again. The bigger the document, the longer it takes until you can finally start working again.
I would like to have the opportunity to have preflight turned off by default. Only when I need it, I would like to turn on preflight.

Option to lengthen the "Set Tab Order" modal box
Setting up tabs in InDesign is almost perfect. The ability to lengthen the "Set Tab Order" modal box would be immensely helpful. When you have over 100 tabbed items or even 20 items, the ability to quickly order them without having to continuously scroll up/down would be a game changer. (MacOS)

Use cursor scroll to zoom in/out of Adobe Indesign
It is very inconvenient to not be able to use the scroll on the cursor to zoom in/out on Indesign. Especially when you go from using it in Photoshop and Illustrator, right to Indesign.

hyperlink destination
There should be a panel where I can see all of the hyperlink destinations I've created. And they should be clickable to test whether they are still working properly. Hyperlinks show up in the hyperlinks panel, but in-document destinations (used for cross references) cannot be tested without exporting to a test document. Nor can I see a list of them outside the drop-down within the xrefs panel.

Scrubby Sliders for Everything Like Photoshop
In Photoshop, every scalable feature (opacity, text size, feather radius, etc) is a slider if you click and drag on the name of the adjustment. This is particularly useful for (large) font size. In Photoshop, you can live preview your text size by sliding, while InDesign you have to either arrow key or type numbers to preview. At the very least, make the font size drop down go above 72 pt like Figma!

Hover over panels to expand them and let them collapse automatically
Hi
When working on a single (and small) monitor setup I am constantly collapsing and moving the panels of Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator because that specific panel is hidden behind another expanded panel.This should fix that problem and should save me multiple clicks:
The option to expand panels when hovering over the panel's icon and auto-collapse them when the mouse leaves the expanded panel. The workspace stays clean that way and I don't need to constantly close unused panels.3 votes
