Ribbon and tab interface
I would like to express my desire to have the current menu bar replaced with a Ribbon and tab interface, similar to what is found in Microsoft Office 2016. I believe this new design would significantly enhance efficiency and usability. The Ribbon format organizes commands and tools in a way that is much more intuitive, allowing users to access the functions they need with ease. Instead of navigating through various nested menus, which can often be cumbersome and time-consuming, the Ribbon provides a clear and visual way to find and use features. Option to hide only ruler guides in Normal View Mode
When working with complex layouts and many ruler guides, it can be a bit frustrating to work further with the layout as the guides can block the view.
Also, it would be nice to be able to see the layout without the ruler guides, in Normal View, while still seeing the bleed edge and margins. A cleaner look of the layout without looking without the bleed.1 vote -
No gap between QR-Code and surrounding object frame
... or else it is much more work to give the QR-Code an exact size or correct alignment with other objects.

Gaußscher Weichzeichner für Bilder und Schnittmaske über das ganze Bild
Damit man z.B. einen Glass-Effect in Indesign herstellen kann, ohne den Umweg über Illustrator oder Photoshop zu machen und es dann wieder in Indesign importieren zu müssen, wäre es prima, wenn man einen Gaußschen Weichzeichner hätte und eine Schnittmaske über das ganze weichgezeichnete Bild verwenden könnte, wie in Illustrator..
To create a glass effect in InDesign, for example, without having to go through Illustrator or Photoshop and then import it back into InDesign, it would be great to have a Gaussian blur and be able to use a clipping mask over the entire blurred image, like in Illustrator.

Easy Paste/Replace images
Normal behavior of clipboard handling (Copy/Cut & Paste), is that the content of the clipboard replaces the selected items. E.g: Copy a piece of text (to the clipboard), select another piece of text, choose Paste, and the selection is replaced by the contents of the clipboard.
But, unfortunately, InDesign breaks this rule, when trying to replace the content of an image frame.
It is not able to Copy the content of a frame, and replace the content of an other frame. We first have to remove the old content, and then choose 'Paste Into'. Why not make it intuitive like…1 vote -
Create auto align between selection & art boards like in Illustrator.
In Adobe Illustrator, when you select a single object, it will automatically change the alignment option to "Align to Artboard". Additionally, if you select more than one object, the alignment option automatically changes to "Align to Selection". I think this feature would be amazing in InDesign. It could work the same way where a single object or text is aligned to artboard and multiple are aligned to selection and maybe if you grouped multiple objects, it would go back to artboard until you select another group or object.

If you group paths, the shadow rotates with the path.
Problem with InDesign version 2026: The shadow in InDesign rotates with the path. The problem is that sometimes you want to be able to rotate a series of paths, even complex structures, but the shadow doesn't rotate with the path. This is a problem. The only solution is to avoid using the shadow tool. You can create shadows alternatively with other paths, or you can have to re-edit all the shadows once the paths have been rotated. As far as I'm concerned, this is crazy. At least make sure that if the paths are grouped, this problem doesn't occur!

Rectangle frames that link to each other so images reflow when one is added or removed like text does in text boxes.
Please make rectangle frames able to be linked so images flow from one frame to the next like can be done with type boxes and text. I work on a 450 page catalog and sometimes there are images that get removed and currently we have to shift all of the images by hand. If the rectangle frames were linked we could delete an image and have the remaining images reflow automatically.

Page blanche automatique dans un roman
Dans une mise en page d'un roman qui ne vient donc pas dans une fonction LIVRE, pas assez de pages pour cela. Il faudrait pouvoir configurer à l'intérieur d'un seul document que les pages où il n'y a pas d'objets, que les informations du gabarit n'apparaissent pas. Il faut toujours contrôler manuellement la mise en page pour changer le gabarit ou mettre un bloc blanc pour masquer. Ca serait pour faire comme la fonction d'ajout d'un page blanc dans la fonction livre, mais seulement en cachant automatiquement les éléments et que si une phrase est rajouté et se retrouve sur…

Notes de bas de page qui suivent dans un LIVRE
Créer la possibilité de faire suivre les numéros de note de bas de page d'un chapitre à l'autre qui sont regroupés dans un LIVRE, comme c'est le cas pour les numérotations de figuresç par exemple. Et également pouvoir faire suivre si la note est dans un bloc séparé, sans que les numéros recommence à chaque fois à 1. Pour les chapitres on peut le faire manuellement, pour les blocs différents à l'intérieur d'un chapitre c'est impossible à contourner le problème manuellement.

Copy-Paste takes very long
Kopieren und Einfügen von Elementen innerhalb eines Indesign-Dokuments oder zwischen Indesign-Dokument dauert sehr lange. Egal ob es große oder winzige Bilder, große PDFs oder einfach mehrere Textrahmen und Flächen sind: es gibt immer einen Lade-Ball. Dieses Problem besteht schön länger und ist mit einer früheren Indesign-Version aufgetaucht und seitdem immer so. Vor 10 Jahren war ich mit solchen einfachen Copy-Paste Aktionen deutlich schneller.

Add a Reference Point option when changing Document Setup
When changing document dimensions in File → Document Setup, there is no option to choose a Reference Point. This feature is very much needed — it would make resizing documents much more precise and efficient.
I truly don’t understand why this option still isn’t available. It’s an essential tool for accurate layout adjustments.

Place Gun Enhancement
We use InDesign in our printing department to place images for printing on our Epson Printers.
At the moment we have page templates with Auto-Fit frames placed and ready to accept the various sizes of supplied images (clients always manage to supply images to the wrong dimensions).Here's what we do :
1. Call up a template.
2. CMD-D to load the Place Gun with multiple files (anything from 2 to 50 - sometimes more).
3. Click in each frame to place the loaded images.Here's where I believe the procedure could be enhanced - in fact it's the only…

Dynamic text for Indesign please…..
It would save so much time — while Dynamic Text isn’t perfect in Photoshop Beta, it’s still great. Since InDesign is such a typographic powerhouse, though, it would make even more sense there — far more control, styles, and layout flexibility.

Alternate layout - Improve
I struggling with this function, i want easy options for me that makes severeal sizes to dirrerent devices of the same design.
I want the option to only make an alternative layout on one choosen page, not auto make it to all my pages.
Also, the autoscale and object adjustment is'nt good at all. If you try this function in canva, it will take me some seconds and i only need to adjust it a little bit, in Indesign, its a struggle. Ans i want to use indesign, but its tome consuming.1 vote -
Adobe Express templates - opens in Indesign
Indesign recently come with a new feature thats allow you to se and open Adobe Express Templates from the startpage in Indesign. BUT, i would love to open them in Indesign, not Adobe Express.
Exacltly like you do in Adobe Express or Canva, but keep it in Indesign. Its perfect if you need some inspiration, or if you use the programs but you have to make something fast and not from scratch.1 vote -
Make "align stroke to outside" actually align the stroke to the outside, like it used to.
When you set a bounding box to align the stroke to the outside, it used to mean that...the stroke was aligned to the outside of the bounding box. I thought that was the whole point of that setting. Now the bounding box is outside of the stroke no matter what you set it to. I can't imagine any possible reason for this. Now if I want to position any element properly, I have to remove the stroke temporarily. Please change it back?
