Add extra options to the "Add Bullets" panel, like search, resize, favourite, etc.
The "Add Bullets" panel is tiny and super limited. It should be possible to resize, search and even favourite your preferred glyphs to make the process much more efficient.

Nested bullet styles
Bullet lists should have nested styles similar to Numbered lists and let us choose which symbol to use for each bullet level.

PLEASE!! Remove "Synchronize styles accross book" button
PLEASE!! Remove "Synchronize styles accross book" button or at least add a "are you sure" confirm button.
This is an irreversible action which can mess all documents within a book without the option to undo it.... AND IS NEXT TO "SAVE BOOK" BUTTON.
You are just one pixel away from destroying your project instead of saving it!

Object Styles Positioning from inner margin (spine)
For the last few years or from as long as I can remember, I am having to have two styles for each action. So the most simple action I do is a Full Page bleed image box. On the outer margin it has an additional 3mm. This is set from the inner margin out. However I have to always create to styles, one for the left and page and one for the right. It would be so useful to have 'from Spine' as an option as a reference point.

To change the dictionary-language in paragraph styles for the whole document/all styles at once.
It would be great and timesaving to change the dictionary-language in paragraph styles for the whole document/all styles or selectedt styles at once. A checkbox like in effects "Global Light" would be great. "Global Language".
I had my styles mostly based on each other. But still have to change 4-6 Paragraphs for each language everey issue of a magazine.

Enable [None] in Character styles to be assigned a shortcut key
When I'm cleaning up a document, one thing I find frustrating is that to clear any character styles, I have to open the palette and click on [None]. All other styles I can assign a shortcut key to so I can work in the text on the keyboard to assign para and char styles. But I can't clear char styles w/o going back to the mouse and the char style palette.

Allow for bullet numbers to display both left AND right
I am a script editor, and formatter. I'd like to be able to create script heading styles that are industry standard. This involves have the scene heading number (which can be styled as a bullet) both on the left AND right of the page. ie 'both' sides. Current we can only style them on the left (unless there's a way to do this I'm not aware of?).

Have a character style option to lock to baseline grid / unlock from baseline grid
I typeset books and leading often have to adjust leading to accommodate page breaks, especially across a spread, so it is important to have this flexibility. I use alternative paragraph styles as a workaround, but this is clunky and time-consuming. Vertical justification doesn't always give the best result.

Change one setting across styles
Changing one element for several styles at once is extremely important, and not only for fonts (for which obviously Replace Fonts can be used). For example, if you have an ebook localized into Japanese, you have to go style by style applying a different paragraph composer, kinsoku and mojikumi settings, etc.

Keep All Paragraphs of the Same Style Together
In Paragraph Style Options/Keep Options or in Table of Contents Styles, add an option to keep all paragraphs of the same style together. This would be very helpful when creating tables of contents or, in some circumstances, bullet lists.

Option to recognise different paragraph styles as the really part of the same style
When creating multi-level lists you need to use different paragraph styles. This creates a problem where the spacing you want at the end of the whole list and the start of a new paragraph is applied when you are in the middle of different levels of the list.
I am thinking a little checkbox next to the 'Based on' paragraph style section in the 'General' tab of the paragraph style settings window that allows you to link the new style as a child of the top-level style.
This way, those end of paragraph spacings won't be applied to the child…1 vote -
Grep: option to relink parent and child paragraph syles
I create an "A" paragraph style with some grep options and then create a "B" paragraph style based on the "A" paragraph style. When I add a new grep option in "B", style "B" breaks its link with "A", so if I change the grep option to style "A", style "B" keeps the "A" option original and don't update its grep option.
Please add an option to make it possible to keep the link between the parent style grep option even when I add a new grep option to the child paragraph style. Thanks.11 votes -
Add ability to export and import styles
It would be quite useful to be able to export and import styles in the same way that it's possible to do this to document colours. This would add a more consistent feel to the program, and make it easier to use. It would also eliminate having to send documents to get styles to someone else, saving a lot of time packaging, zipping, etc.

Option to retain and set the object rotation angle with reference point within an object style for objects as well as anchored objects.
I use rotated objects in about 100% of all documents I create and I develop most to all of the document templates for all of our users which result in 4000+ documents every year. All the templates are heavily style based in all aspects and properties that can be set manually but are not covered by styles lead to confusion and lack of adoption by users. Scripting all the things that are not covered by native functionality in styles is one thing but leads to other problems. so please at least consider this as an easy target for improvement.

Tab in footnote prefix for aligned decimals
I have a document with over 100 footnotes. I need to align the decimals of every footnote. To do this, I expected to be able to set up in the footnote style an "align to decimal" tab, and then a "justify left" tab for the footnote content, and then a TAB prefix in the "Document Footnote Options." However, there seems to be no way to place a tab as a Footnote text prefix. Entering ^t does nothing, and it gets cleared as soon as I close the options window. Other text or even special characters like ^r for registered trademark…

Add "redefine style" button
I, and probably many other users, often use the "redefine style" button in the various style windows (mainly paragraph and object styles, but also character style etc.).
This is a very visual-centered iterative process, with a lot of tweaking, refining and tweaking again. And the "redefine style" is a key component in that process.
It should be reduced to a single click of a button, instead of right-clicking and choosing it from the menu - just as "clear overrides" has a button of it's own.
I've added the current paragraph stye menu, and an updated one with the dedicated "redefine…
