1. Change hypenation-language for all text frames at the same time

   I would like to select all text frames on one page and change the (hypenation-)language for all of them at the same time. This would save a lot of time when working with seveal languages in the same document.
   I know, that I can add new paragraph styles with the corresponding language setting. But that takes way too much time. In our documents, each language has its own layer.

   In the Links pallet, I can see the path to a link; EVEN if it's missing I can see where it was linked from. I would like the same thing for Fonts. In Find/Replace fonts I can only see a path to fonts that are found. I would like a path for Missing fonts, so I know--- were the activated through the Cloud? Or from someone's Font folder (and not properly Packaged). If I know, I can either Activate the fonts from Adobe, or retrieve the fonts from their local hiding place. It would remove the risk of activating an incorrect version of the font.
   You can show me a path to Missing graphics. Why not a path to Missing fonts?

4. Span Columns -- please allow to control width of individual columns

   I posted this same note under a topic called "Uneven columns," thinking it was to do with Span Columns. I realized later that it was referring to text frame columns. I am reposting here; please excuse the redundancy.

   I run into this over and over and over again when typesetting business text books. Sometimes bullet items are long and sometimes short. The way columns work now, I'm forced to have some of the longer bullet text break to two lines even though, if i could adjust the column widths and have better control over the gutter, there would be ample room for this bullet text to stay on one line. This would be a great help in some layouts where that one double line of bullet text screws with the page ending and forces one line of bullets to the next page. I hope someone takes this suggestion seriously! It would be much appreciated.

6. Scaling Text in InDesign

   I would like to suggest an improvement to how InDesign handles text scaling. Currently, when I scale an object containing text, the visual size of the text changes, but InDesign still shows the original size in the text panel, displayed in parentheses. This forces users to go through several complicated steps to make the scaled text size permanent without showing the parentheses.

   It would be incredibly useful if Adobe could implement a simple feature where the scaled text size is automatically updated to a permanent size, without needing to create outlines or perform manual recalculations. This would streamline workflows and give users more control over their design elements.

   What could be improved:

   • Scale text to a permanent size, not as a transformation, without the need to use "Create Outlines."
   • A simple function to convert scaled text to a permanent size without parentheses showing in the text panel.

   I believe this would make InDesign even more efficient and user-friendly for designers, improving workflows for those who often work with scaled objects containing text.

8. Combine Enhance Scanned File with AI

   I have a very large scanned pdf of a document that was typed with an old typewriter. I am transferring it all to InDesign and the quality of the text when I copy and paste from the scanned document is awful which is making me have to retype large chunks.
   It would be very powerful to use AI to test the text and make sense of it rather than the current output which is mostly garbage.
   And when I use the spell suggester, it comes out with such random suggestions which bear no relation to the actual spelling of the word - no context is taken in to the suggestions. Also, the number of times it suggests covid and brexit are ridiculous.
   This whole area of InDesign could be massively improved.

9. Ancient Greek spell check

   I have read an article (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/add_cs_dictionaries.html) about adding a Hunspell dictionary in inDesign and try to insert the Ancient Greek dic in InDesign but it was not working properly. I hope Adobe in the future to include and the Ancient Greek Language as there are many University Studies which teach Ancient Greek Literature and print books in ancient greek language. There is already a free hunspell dic so I suppose that it will be easy for adobe such a thing.

11. Enable an index entry that's "Current Page" plus or minus "n" page.

    I'm currently in a situation where I have multiple tables in a book, and each table bridges across its spread. The index entry I want to make is on the right-hand (recto) page but, because the upper-left corner of the text frame containing the table is on the preceding left-hand page, the index entry takes the number of that preceding page, not the correct right-hand page.

    In practice, this means I have to go back and manually change the index entry page number to one page higher - for every single entry.

    Implementing this would just require another option for the "Type:" drop-down, with an entry field for the number of pages to add or subtract from the automatic entry.

    I would see this operating as selecting "Current Page +/-" from the "Type:" drop-down in the "New Page Reference" dialog, and then typing the desired offset ("1" in my case) into a "number of pages" field.

14. Indesign CJK Version Request : Standard Vertical Roman Alignment

    Please add the simple feature of standard vertical roman alignment in adobe indesign CJK version as well.

    In all the other versions of Indesign, and also in other basic applications like the photoshop or illustrator, there is an option to vertically align roman alphabets. However, in the CJK version, the vertical writing tool only provides the option to typeset the roman alphabets and numbers in a 90 degree rotated way.

    If I wanted to write them vertically without having to rotate it, I have to manually do so in Character settings, but that is not a good option since the vertical kerning setting would not be applied, and would be forced rotated. 16. Highlight Box Behind Text

    This is so commonly used in design, that it even exists in Adobe Express, yet for some reason has never been introduced to InDesign. Instead we have had to create underlines and adjust them, which then needs to be adjusted every time font size is changed.

    I imagine this is not a difficult thing to introduce, and it would be a huge help to so many people within publication design

17. Support ODT files

    ODT files are used by open source software Libre Office who inherited from both Open Office and Neo Office. It's used by Microsoft users, Apple Users and Linux users. Since it's open source software, it's 100% free. It allows for the same sort of features that Microsoft does as much as Google Docs does similarly.

    Google currently does support ODT files. (see Screenshot) Shouldn't Adobe follow suit and do the same? Every other program does, so why not Adobe?

    InDesign needs to support ODT files for the following reasons:
    1. LIbre Office is Free.

    1. Adobe costs a lot of money per year and not everyone gets Word or Microsoft office for free. There are Apple users which would make the majority of the population, I would htink considering macs are more stabele for Photoshop, etc. There are also Linux users who would have to purchase Microsoft Word.

    2. Adobe supports other open source extensions on the rest of its software so the excuse that "It just is too hard" doesn't look like a good excuse.

       There is are according to that website 1.5 million downloads of only version 1. Consider how much that has spread since.

    The listed reason doesn't seem cogent from what I know of software engineering and considering Adobe does support open source in other products.

    Unless you're getting 1 trillion dollars from Microsoft to not do it, it doesn't seem like a feasible business plan to block the path of ODT files and their importation if it would lead to a wider user base being able to access adobe products. Why make people pay for 2 programs? Why don't you want people to spend that sweet cash on Adobe and InDesign instead?

    With the boom in the self publishing industry, I think making the ceiling lower and more accessible to Adobe products would be in your best interest over insisting that people use Word. Give Microsoft the competition they should have in the first place and make it a fair, non-collusion market. Shouldn't Adobe want a wider user base?

18. More options to compare fonts

    When creating a layout I often like to compare different fonts and see which one best matches the project. I would like feature where you can input text (eg. a title or line of text) and get an overview of that text in different fonts that you have installed. Currently you can only go through the list of fonts via the character panel, but this doesn't offer a lot of flexibility in comparing your options side by side.

20. Empty Text Frames in Preflight Panel

    It would be really nice if the Preflight Panel (or another tool) could detect text frames with no text in them and give the user an option to delete them. Empty text frames don't cause that many problems in print, but when you export to ePub, they often create some odd pagination and other errors. I think they usually happen because I bring in a new story and it kicks out 15 pages. Then I highlight the text and apply a style and the text shrinks to 12 pages, but leaves behind empty boxes. If I don't go back and delete the blank frames on pages 13, 14, and 15, they stay there, and if you bring in a new story, you often overlay it on top of those empty boxes.
