3. Preflight bug (?) non-proportional type scaling

   Hi, I am working with InDesign version 16.4 and am currently experiencing a new strange 'problem': I am making a calender with on each second page a text frame with some text. Now I get 12 'non-proportional type scaling' warnings in the preflight panel for these frames, but when I look at the texts, no non-proportional scaling shows up in the character panel. I have never experienced this before. Can this be a bug?

4. Fonts' OpenType features not working in Composite fonts in InDesign

   When using any Hebrew font in InDesign, the diacritics (nikuds) are displayed in their correct location. This location is set within the fonts by using OpenType features such as ccmp (for glyph substitution) and mark (for glyph positioning). InDesign recognizes and applies these features.

   When this font is used as part of a Composite font in InDesign, the result is quite different. It seems like the ccmp feature is honored but the mark feature is not.

   The diacritics shift and the length of the text increases. Some of this fluctuation can be mitigated by Diacritics Position feature in InDesign however this feature only works on a paragraph level and applies the correction to ALL diacritics uniformly whereas the whole point of the OpenType feature is to adjust diacritics on a character level.

5. Suddenly unable to import RTF files?

   Suddenly unable to import RTF files to INDD pages, possibly after most recent software update through ACC. Have been doing it the same way for years, and now it refuses to let me autoflow or even place the first column of what will be a multi-page layout.

6. CC2021 Windows file with bullets not compatible with Mac

   I opened a client's file in ID CC2021. She had a bulleted list but the bullets were squares with a question mark in the. [?]. I opened the file on a Mac and she created it on Windows. I opened the file in windows the the bullets looked fine •

7. Font not appearing

   A font I have installed and previously been able to select in InDesign is now not showing for me on any new document I create. I have updated InDesign and double checked the font (it shows in all other programs) but the only way I can get the font to appear in InDesign is to copy text from another file that has my font in which is not really ideal.
   The font is Raleway.

8. Not all Color Panel menus accessible via keyboard shortcut

   When setting a custom keyboard shortcuts, there is no option for

   Panel Menus > Color: HSB

   And other color models. Those should be added. All panel menu items should be available consistently.

9. 'see' reference in index

   InDesign CC, latest version

   Strange bug (or at least unwanted behavior) I encountered today in Indesign:

   For a new book project, I used an earlier book as a template (a lot of the settings and styles should be the same), replacing all the text and images. The index in the earlier book contained 'see'-references. For the new book I generated a new index ('replace old index' checked), and the 'see'-references (just these) from the old book also showed up!
   I would expect checking the 'replace old index' box would prevent this.
   Not a big deal (the faulty entries were easy to be found), and certainly not a reason to change the way I work, but maybe something could be done about it.

11. On launching indesign by opening a file, Indesign loses all its tools until 15 seconds after an action

    Recent development in INDD 16.3 (2021)
    INDD opens fine and from the open screen recent files or new files open fine.
    But when launching indesign by clicking on a file, it opens without any tools available.
    tool windows appear, later after something is done like selecting a workspace
    running under win10
    triple 4k monitor setup
    have tried uninstall reinstall - that failed.

12. BUG - Autonumbering turns off when hiding a layer - BUG

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Create 2 threaded text frames on a page.
    2. Fill them with text (Lorem ipsum)
    3. Autonumber the paragraphs with Autonumbering feature in InDesign - regular 1, 2, 3-list will do.
    4. Create a new layer
    5. Move the first frame in the text flow to that layer
    6. Turn off visibility of that layer....

    The autonumbering is gone from any autonumbered list!!!

13. Tell (X,Y) values of specific table cells

    When I have tables in a document, I often have to lay text boxes over specific cells to achieve my desired result and it would be helpful to have a way to know the specific (X,Y) values of each cell so that I can line the relevant text box up appropriately.

    InDesign version info attached (Mac OS 10.15.7).

    I've been dealing with persistent crashing while trying to open ID files. For certain files, the beach ball of death appears for an extended (and sometimes endless) period, at which point I force-quit and open the file again. On the second attempt, the file always opens properly. This happens with most, not all, ID files — so I literally have to restart ID 30+ times a day. No fun.

    I've reset preferences and even reinstalled ID from scratch, but no luck. One thing I noticed is that if I move the ID file to the desktop, it opens fine on the first try. I did some more experimenting, and now it seems that if one of the file's parent folder names begins with a number/pound sign, the error/hang occurs — however, when I remove the pound sign, the file opens fine (I begin my project folder names with the project number). In my case, the relevant parent folder is three levels up (e.g., #80-21 Project name > LAYOUTS > v1 > Project file.indd).

    Soooo, I'm not sure WHY this is happening, but it may be an easy fix, and I'm guessing (?) this may be happening to other users as well. Hope this helps — fixing this would be a simple but major usability improvement on my end. Thanks.

16. Layer hidden by top layer

    I have a layer with text and images and then a layer below it will squares of solid colors. Whenever the text layer is visible and on top, the colors cannot be seen despite there being areas where they should be completely visible. The text box is set to transparent as well. When I move the colored squares to the text layer they can be seen. How can this be fixed without having the squares be moved to the text layer?

17. Issues with MacOS custom keyboards and InDesign

    The users have InDesign V16.1 installed on macOS Big Sur (11.4).
    They use custom software keyboards (created with Ukelele) to type Native American language characters (Salish via IPA). They use custom fonts that have the required glyphs for the language. OpenType marks are used for composing characters. The fonts are both Unicode and OpenType compliant. Frequently a properly composed character will consist of a primary glyph (such as "K") followed by a combining glottal and a wsuperior. If each key of the custom software keyboard has only a single unicode code point assigned, everything works fine. However, if the custom software keyboard has more than one unicode code point assigned, then only the first unicode code point glyph is accepted and displayed by InDesign. This is consistent and repeatable in InDesign. With all other tested apps (Word, Pages, Mellel, OS Finder, etc) both the custom fonts and custom keyboards work fine (a single keypress, with multiple unicode code points assigned) displays all of the glyphs assigned to the keystroke.

18. In a document imported from word, endnote links don't work.

    I imported a word document with endnotes in indesign 2021. The link between the reference numbers and the endnote texts doesn't work. Any suggestion?

19. Uservoice shows error message and creates double posts

    I've klicked on publish button and got a error message at my last post.
    I thought maybe it's a problem with the size of the attachment, so I've tried an other file and got no problems at publishing.
    Now I've seen, that the first two attempts, that were stopped by a error message of this system here, were published too.
    So fyi, I didn't want to make a double or tripple post.

    Maybe you want to take a look at this behaviour too.
