Edge smoothing in Indesign 16.3.2 creates lines where there should be none!
Something that is extremely annoying and obstructive when designing. This was once different and better!
No matter if e.g. black or dark frames with white "narrow - narrow" outline or areas that cover others, hairlines appear everywhere where there shouldn't be any.
I don't know with which update this has crept in. But it nevt infinitely and it was no improvement.
The only way to get rid of these lines is to disable edge smoothing completely. But then you have a pixelated view with the charm of the 80s. So this is not an alternative either!

Drag-Duplicating using Alt/Opt key does not work if key is pressed after dragging
I am working on Mac OS Big Sur v 11.3.1 using Indesign CS 2020 16.2.1.
I cannot duplicate images using the command option shift key.
I have also noticed that holding the shift key down to proportionately size images is also not working. Could you advise if this issue can be solved? I have read the thread posted in 2020 and it said it was under review. I tried the workaround suggested changing live Screen drawing to "never" but this has not changed anything. Please help! Thanks.1 vote -

Compound path stroke incorrect
InDesign version 16.1 macOS. Haven't tested Windows, could be same.
Steps to reproduce:
In a new document, create a box.
Create a second, smaller box, inside the first box.
Select both and create a compound path (Object menu, Paths, Create Compound Path).
Select the object.
Give it a large stroke, for example, 10 points.
Set align stroke to outside shape.
Result: smaller, inner box (the "hole") has the stoke going same direction as larger box, when it should be reversed, going "outward" (toward the hole) instead of into the shape.1 vote -
Library panel not registering licensed images
Hi, for a while now the Library panel does not register when I license an image from Adobe Stock. I search for an image and place a watermarked thumbnail into the document (InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop). When the draft is approved I click on the license image icon on the image in the Library (or on the thumbnail image in the document) and the license process happens but the library does to update to show the licensed image. I have to go to Adobe stock in a web browser, find the specific library and download the image manually. The cloud…

Thick-thin rule appears backwards in counters of a compound path
When the thick-thin rule style (or another that’s similarly asymmetrical) is applied to a compound path, the thick part is the outermost toward the outside of the shape, but not the innermost toward the holes or counters as one would expect. (I don’t recall seeing this in earlier versions, but I don’t use these rule styles very often.) To make the insides match (mirror) the outsides I have to stack copies of the object, each with its own simple rule.
Using v16.1 on MacOS v10.15.7.
P.S. Not sure what category this belongs in—sorry if it’s out of place.

Images not importing within frame
Indesign has started randomly importing images incorrectly - sometimes with the frame much larger than the image, sometimes with the image out of the frame bounds, forcing me to resize each frame to fit the image. Very frustrating.
See screenshot of image as it should import on the left, and on the right how it actually imports.

CC Libraries placing permission error
Indesign Version 16.1
Mac OS 10.14Indesign doesn´t let me place graphics (testet JPG, PSD, PDF files) trough the CC Libraries panel. I can open/edit them, via double click, in Photoshop/Acrobat/Illustrator though.
I tested this with older libraries I already had a few versions of Indesign before. I also testet this with a library I just created. Still the same error .
I attached a Screenshot of the error message.

Image not populating in Data Merge
I have a file in which I merge in a PDF of a page, along with some variable text. I was seeing an ongoing issue where, when turning on Preview, the PDF image wouldn't appear, but there would also be no error.
After trying a few things, I realized that placing the pdf I wanted (on the pasteboard) while choosing an appropriate "crop to" setting, then turning Preview off and then on solved the problem.
I often place images with bleed, and the pdf file in question didn't have a bleed box, so I believe it was failing to import…

Photoshop .psb files grayed out in InDesign Open window.
Hi,
Photoshop .psb files grayed out in InDesign Open window. You cannot place PSB images using the "Place" command. However, you can drag and drop the file from the desktop into a InDesign picture box.Photoshop version is 22.1.1
InDesign version 16.0.2
macOS Catalina v10.15.7In fact, graying out of legitimate files happens on Catalina with other software. Excel sometimes cannot access to .xls or .xlsx files via the Open window.
Sometimes legitimate files appear grayed out when the Open window is first opened but may turn black after few seconds.

The "Object Export Options" menue will not open in german InDesign-Version 16.0.1

InDesign _ images in viewport changes scale, even if loacked
I have an seem to be running into this issue on multiple occasions. I lock the viewport, save file/close the InDesign file.
When I go to open the file again, the scale of the image in the locked viewport is changed, and goes outside the viewport. I am forced to rescale the images again. Is this a bug? How can I prevent this from happening?1 vote -
Color changes when overprint preview is switched on.
Hi,
With the latest version of InDesign v16.0.1 running on macOS Catalina, a strange phenomenon appeared. When "Overprint Preview" in switched on displayed colors change. Oranges become reddish. When the images/vector graphics are checked in Photoshop or Illustrator they look OK.
When Overprint Preview is OFF, colors are displayed correctly. But when OP is turned on, they change. Most drastic change takes place in the orange-red region.
Attached are two screen shots.
Bet regards,
Refik Telhan

Copy and paste from InDesign 15.1.3 to InDesign 16.0
When copy pasting from 1 version to the other, Objects (including Text Frames) are getting pasted as an embedded EPS without showing as so in the Links Panel.

Cannot recognize/package .ai files from .indd files linked to another .indd file
See this forum post:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/is-it-possible-to-package-an-indesign-document-that-has-linking-indesign-documents/m-p/11629673?page=1#M405575When linking to another .indd file, and then creating a package, the package will include .psd, .jpg and .png files from the linked .indd file. However, it appears that .ai files are not recognized in the main file's link panel and are not packaged. The other non-.ai links to the sub-file's assets are included in the main file's links panel as well.
