2020 spinning wheel
InDesign 2020 has become almost unusable for me -- with every step the spinning wheel appears and delays for 30 seconds until ultimately I need to force quit. I am using the latest version of 2020 15.1.2. Should I revert to an earlier version?

Here it is September 2021 and this is STILL an issue. Running InDesign 16.4 (latest) on MacBook with Big Sur 11.4 (also latest). I have shut down every other application that I possibly can. I have paused Time Machine and the beachball spins after EVERY thing I do in an uncomplicated book with no illustrations. I want to tear my hair out.
same. there is no pattern. could be typing or scaling a photo etc etc. and the bb appears for anywhere from 5-15+ seconds. completely random. i have uninstalled ID. reinstalled. starched prefs. ran in safe mode. nothing works. turned off AV. done everything and NO improvement.
I am running InDesign 2021, and have the problem. I am running Mac OS 11.4 with 64gb of RAM on a 2020 iMac. This should not be happening.
Same here too. Running 16.2.1 on OSX 11.3.1. Have removed Suitcase and then uninstalled and re-installed Indesign and still beach balling and stalling every few edits. Lots of threads about this elsewhere but no sign of an answer.

If I save my file as an IDML it works fine, so this is what I'm doing as a workaround for now but would love to figure out what's causing this issue! I'm using a brand new macbook pro M1 chip, but I was having the same issue in InDesign on a much older macbook air too.
same problem - driving me crazy!!!

Same here: When I’m switching from Word to Indesign got a beach ball for 30s–60s.
