Distorted Text and Graphics in high sierra
When opening a previously created file, I noticed small visual artifacts in the rendering of vector graphics in the file. As I zoomed in to inspect it, the artifacts began jumping all over the place, and as I zoomed in further, text on the page began presenting the same behavior.
Using InDesign 2017.1, Build 12.1.0.56 on a 2016 Macbook Pro (2.9 GHz Intel Core i5, 16 GB RAM), running macOS High Sierra 10.13.
This is a macOS10.13 issue, specific for some Intel GPU cards. Apple has fixed(partially) this issue inside macOS10.13.4 released build.
Following are the workaround for resolving this issue.
1) Update your mac machine to latest macOS10.13.4. Here, Apple has fixed this issue to some extent. You will face very less number of rendering issues.
2) Disable GPU preview and set display performance as typical.
Once you have updated to macOS10.13.4 .You might still face some rendering issues. Since, Apple has not fixed this issue completely.
Please switch off GPU rendering for these cases and report a separate post for tracking.

Am posting just to add to the number of comments, and thus hoping it will add that much more pressure on Adobe to fix this! In short: After months of hemming and hawing, I finally dropped a wad of cash on a new machine and new software and the most simplest of things (screen display issue) does not function correctly. Adobe and Apple, get your act together! You both sold us the dream of super-duper wonderful and seamless design goodness, now make good on that promise!

Super frustrating, dealing with this problem for months now. I mustn't think of how much I'm paying to receive a not working program.
At least I finally found fellow sufferer ❤ #loveyouguys -

It casts weird shadows on my pages, making the text and images hard to read. It does it on blank pages as well. I tried changing the screen modes, updating it, but nothing works. I'm using Adobe CC 2018.

Will this ever be fixed? This is frustrating, I thought I was the only one having this issue.

I agree it is disgraceful. I am a one-person, freelance designer and am disgusted that the subscription price for Adobe software is WAY more than I would have paid for upgrades without a subscription. And now I cannot use the software on my BRAND NEW MacBook Pro lap top. Adobe, don't point the finger at Apple, they aren't to blame. I've used a multitude of design software on Apple computers for over 30 years and never had an issue as severe as this--or certainly not one that has lasted this long, unresolved.

Followed this advice from a comment on Dec. 6 and worked perfectly for me:
"Just turn off GPU rendering in the Preferences, no biggie. It makes no to very very small differences in screen speed redrawing or scrolling."
Issue resolved. It will be nice when there is an actual fix for the GPU rendering though. Keep us updated, Adobe!

Yep - same here. 2 and a half months is more than enough time to resolve this. Just upgraded to new MacBook Pro and Adobe CC and I'm asking myself why... We pay our monthly fees, we pay for new machines - we expect them to work. We expect timely fixes. We expect Apple and Adobe to have a united front for professionals to ensure this stuff all works at release - other wise give us a discount for pre-release. It's this kind of thing I expect from Microsoft and PUBG - not Apple and Adobe. Disgraceful.

I have the exact same issue. Besides the grey boxes, indesign is constantly crashing my entire system causing me to reboot repeatedly. I am using a MacBook Pro 13" 2017 running on MacOS 10.13.1.

I have documents that keep showing grey geometric/polygon-like shapes in. When I switch to Preview Bleed mode, I see them in white. When I scroll to another page, they disappear.
I'm using InDesign CC 2017.0 Release 12.0.0.81 Build on a MAcBook Pro running High Sierra.
Any idea what these are or why it is showing these glitches?

I'm having the same issue. I'm currently using Adobe Indesign CC 2017.0 Release 12.0.0.81 build. And I'm seeing the same odd grey geometric polygon-like shapes popping up all over when I try to edit my document. When I switch to Preview Bleed mode, I see the same thing in white.

Hi, Please fix this issue. Many professionals spend a lot of money on hardware and your software to make a living and this is gross oversight for such a legacy program.

Can you give an update as to when this issue will be fixed, please? Or an estimate at least? I agree that we shouldn't have to pay for a broken program. Also, please advise a work around if you aren't going to fix it permanently and soon. Any ideas welcome. Thank you!
