  1. Footnotes do not honor "keep" settings

Title says it all. If a footnote paragraph style contains "keep" settings and split footnotes are enabled, footnotes ignore the keep settings. It should be possible to (a) allow split footnotes, and (b) stipulate that at least two lines must be carried over to the second page, but this is not possible. Keeps are ignored.

  3. Footnate Adds Extra Space Above Span Columns

Adding a footnote to the first line of a story adds extra space beneath the second line of a story if line 3 is set to split columns.

  4. Bug: blank lines between footnotes when aligned to baseline grid

Found a serious bug in which aligning footnotes to the baseline grid adds blank lines between footnotes, even if the paragraph style has no space before/after, the leading is smaller than the baseline grid increment, and the footnote options specify no space before or between notes. This is breaking my workflow and I can't find a way around it without deselecting "align to baseline grid," which causes other problems.

  5. Preferences: Type: Use of Typographer’s Quote reset to off

    1. Adobe InDesign 14.0.3
    2. Create or open a document with Use of Typographer’s Quote checkbox ticked. Copy/Paste text from a document (Word, TextEdit) into the InDesign document. Note that the resetting of the Preferences doesn't happen all the time, only sometimes and I haven't been able to narrow it down to a certain context.
    3. The pasted text should use Typographer’s Quote according to the Preferences.
    4. The quotes from that pasted text use straight quotes instead, and when opening the Preferences, the checkbox is now unticked.

Note: I've encountered this bug in previous versions of InDesign from CS5 up to the current…

  6. OpenType mark positioning messed up when using bidi text with Thaana font

The font uses ccmp feature to build dotted glyph from base glyphs.

When a LTR character comes into question, these glyphs are rendered incorrectly.

    See the screenshot.

  7. Diagonal Lines no border

Having an issue with using diagonal lines in cell options. I'm wanting to split a cell diagonally with two different colours. The fill works fine as intended but the border isn't working at all. When you zoom right in on the cell it looks fine but when zoomed out it disappears. It also doesn't show up when exported as a PDF as you can see in the screenshot. My workaround has been to duplicate the table on top and then remove the diagonal lines fill, set the fill to none and then the border shows just fine. Not ideal having…

  8. Text Variables Do Not Work with Auto-Size Text Boxes

When I create a text box that has auto-size (width only) enabled and then insert a text variable (e.g. "modification date"), the entire text variable is collapsed into the width of a single character. It is as if the dynamic width of the text variable causes a bug in the calculation of auto-size, such that the width cannot be determined, and so it all collapses into the width of a single character instead, with all of the characters rendered one on top of the other.

Very disappointing bug, because dynamic text variables and auto-size are a natural fit for one…

  9. Autosize height does not work on threaded text frames

Autosize does not work on threaded text frames. Why not? You have a frame break that tells you where the box ends. Can you fix this?

  11. XML tags are not allowing inside Footnotes

We are handling huge STM Books and Journals and following XML workflow. Some of our books and journals will have huge footnotes with contents coded with client provided DTD. When applying the XML tagging to footnote contents, InDesign showing a warning that it's not allowed (attached the screenshot for reference)

Due to this limitation, we're handling the XML based footnotes with different approach and unable to utilize the benefits of usual footnotes features, which includes footnotes moving to next page when the footnote references are moving, flowing the part of footnotes into next page(s) when the contents are exceeding the…

  13. composite fonts

    InDesign VERSION 19.1
I Created a new font using "composite fonts", chose the base font, latin & Numbers. after creating the new font, i selected the text frame and applied the new font i created (like i always did)
the problem is, tha the latin letters showed up with wide spacing (wide tracking) - shown in the attached image.
While teaching my student that, they told me the encountered the same problem. Since i have used it in the past i assume it is a bug

    Regards
    Erez

  14. Text Anchors For Hyperlinking Keep Changing To Different Anchors

After manually changing every single text anchor back to the proper destination and saving, the text anchors have now changed to different locations or have been removed completely. This is a huge bug that has caused me to waste a week of time.

  15. Variable Font Italic Slider Not Working Correctly

    Adobe InDesign ver.19.0.1

The variable weight for CC Regeneration (distributed through Adobe Fonts) is not working correctly in InDesign. The italic slider is not adjusting all data points correctly and the capital "I" glyph is not affected at all.
The variable font works correctly in Illustrator.

  17. Logical bug: font weight change to bold and back

System: ID version 17.4.2 on Windows 10.
Problem: some fonts have weights like "Light", next to Regular and Bold. If a text is set to weight Light and you change to Bold by Ctrl+Shift+B, the text becomes bold. When changing it back, it doesn't become Light, but Regular. The logic would be to check if there is a paragraph style applied and what's its default weight and use this when "unbolding".

  18. Browsing, Searching, and Activating fonts

For the last long while I've been having trouble with fonts in indesign and I've heard that others have the same issues.

Only the first time I open the fonts list after restarting indesign, can I scroll through it with my arrow keys. After that, it doesn't work and therefore, it's very difficult to go through my fonts.

Additionally, when I try typing in to the fonts bar to search for a font, it often doesn't pull up the font, as though it's not installed, when I find it if I scroll through the list.

    Also, if I try to…

  19. Drag-and-Drop text editing in Layout view problems

I was working on InDesign layout with Word text with some text originally in Arabic - with some numbers (dates) only for a reason I cannot understand, but it was a text about oriental philosophy... I discovered that my body text paragraph style (for a strange reason) used Adobe Worlld-Ready Single-Line Composer (it was not my choice!). That selection made the one letter Drag-and-Drop editor in the Layout view not work correctly. When I changed the composer to a simple paragraph composer everything is OK again...
Made an experiment - on Latin-based text with World-Redy composer one cannot use Drag-andDrop…

  20. Fit Frame to Content multicolumn text frame

    1. InDesign 18.3 but has been doing this for many years.

    2. Draw a single column text frame next to a multicolumn text frame, have the same number of lines in both frames, apply Fit Frame to Content with any method to both frames, they will most likely not be the same height. You can change the width of the multicolumn frame and then Fit Frame to Content might get closer.

    3. Should be the same height if all text styling is the same.

    4. Variable height on the multicolumn frame, doing Fit Frame to Content a few times and can change it each…
