Allow multiple bookmarks to be dragged at once to reorder in bookmarks panel
In the Bookmarks panel, you can select multiple bookmarks simultaneously, but you can't then do anything with them. It would be nice to be able to move several bookmarks at once when reordering.

Library panel: Pop-up preview on focus
Thumbnails, even large thumbnails, in the Library panel are often not enough to know which object I’m looking at. I often have a lot of similar items in one library. How about a preview that appears when the mouse hovers over a library item? It would work like tool tips.
While I’m on the subject, how about letting us name items in the panel instead of requiring a dialogue? Most panel work this way.

Height of Link Info in the Links pallet stay as pallet height is changed
I would like to have the Links pallet behave differently. I would like to have it, when adjusting the pallet size by clicking and dragging the bottom of the pallet, adjust the size of the Links portion of the pallet instead of the Link Info part, keeping the current height of the Link Info consistent.
Currently, to see more images in the list, I have to drag the pallet twice. Once drags the pallet larger, but in reality only changes the size of the Link Info. Then I have to drag the bottom of the Link part down to see…

Toggle through styles and narrow by search in paragraph/character/object style windows
The ability to go through all styles without leaving the Paragraph Style Options window. Like forward and back arrows. If you are editing multiple paragraph styles at a time (or character or object styles for that matter), currently you have to close out of the dialog box every time you want to toggle to a new style. It’d be nice to toggle or click through to the next style (alphabetically), or choose it from a drop-down menu.
Also. when you have a long list of styles, the ability to search for them by typing. Right now, you have to scroll.…

Window decorators make moving the window difficult when smaller
When the window is small (eg half of my screen), the window decorators make it very difficult to move the window. In particular, the name of the program ("Adobe InDesign CC 2018") is inactive, but somehow I still can't grab the window there. It gets very frustrating to manage my screen, especially when I need several programs open.

Change to using ribbons instead of the old style menu bar.
My wish is to see the menu bar replaced with Ribbons and tabs (as in Microsoft Office 2016). It is so much more efficient than using menus.

InDesign start screen does not render thumbnails of recent version files, only previous version files.
After the recent update to 13.1 x64, the opening screen no longer displays thumbnails of files created in this current version. However, thumbnails are visible for the files created before the recent update.

Make "Start workspace" default go to open files
I would like the "Start workspace" to be my go to open document workspace in Indesign. Also when documents are already open.
I find it very useful to see thumbnails of my work instead of the "Open recent" filelist.2 votes -
Change rectange tool default stroke to fill
When you create a new rectangle, it is annoying that it always adds the stroke to it by default, forcing you to resize the rectangle after you have removed the stroke. Resizing is needed after removing stroke, because you first draw the rectangle to its correct size and then when you remove the stroke, it leaves a tiny gap as the stroke was aligned outside the rectangle.
Personally I need stoke rarely, but fill almost every time. I am pretty sure others find stroke to be the not-so-often used one, too.
So, why not change the default stroke to be…

Non printing layer attention value
Since the latest update of Adobe CC I noticed that across the suite, when you double click a layer and set it to non-printing, the label is no longer displayed in italic. Thus remaining in the dark on first glance at layer palette if a layer is set to non printing. I use non-printing feature a lot but now I don't have a visual reference anymore. Don't understand why this feature was removed?

User interface is getting worse and worse
I am still on CS6, because newer versions have been less stable and don't bring any benefits I need. Now I tried InDesign CC 2018 and realize that the contrast of the UI gets worse (dark grey on light grey or vice versa, additionally you cannot distinguish inactive/greyed-out menu topics), that the palettes needs more space on the screen without any reason for doing this and more dialogs/messages are not on the original OS design but in a new style. I suppose this is for tablet usability, but within this app really makes no sense to me. You are moving…

Replace GUI
It could be usefull if developers could completely replace the existing GUI, and replace it with a custom build GUI. The Indesign engine could then also be used for other purposes than graphic design work.

Make mini-icons easier to see
I am running InDesign 2017.1 on a 1920x1080 monitor. The toolbar icons are quite small, but still usable, except for the ones dealing with color and stroke (lower left corner of UI). The mini-icons are trouble for old eyes and hands. I have tried changing the Windows text size setting to 125%, which improves the mini-icon situation but bloats the whole UI, reducing the work area. All I really want to do is make the color/stroke jumble easier to navigate and use. Everything else is fine as is.

make type palette responsive and precise - it slips and lags.
scrolling through fonts in the type palette is not smooth and responsive. It slips and lags, as if there is something blocking the mouse or trackpad sensor. Frustrating bug that does not occur in Illustrator. Please fix.

Cross-reference dialog: sortable picker / resizable window
Every time I place a new cross-ref or edit a broken one, it opens that "Edit cross-ref" window, which is not resizable, where a lot of space is wasted and where the most import part, the list of headlines to pick from, is not the biggest part. Then I would select a paragraph style from that very small list on the left where some style names may even be wider than the list field. And when picking from the list on the right, it is not sorted aphabetically by default. Please put something we can click to sort. Imagine you…

Please bring this little feature from XD to InDesign
Check the video. Very easy to implement. I do not understand, why you have not already.

print-preferences should auto-sort alphabetically
Just a thingy: Im not able to alter the order of my styles, thats fine and dandy. But then I would rather have it sorted alphabetically.
@screenshot: See how "A1" (2) is at the bottom, where my brain want to find it at the top of the list beneath A1 (1).

Open failed (.inlk): Dialog "Open As Copy?"
Ever "browsed" thru a fileserver to doubleclick the document from Finder/Explorer?
Bad for you, if that file is in use by someone else, because:
Now you can redo the browsing within InDesign, just to access the "open as copy" within the file-open-dialog.What if the "No access, maybe locked."-warning can be a dialog like this: "No access, maybe locked. Try to open as Copy?"
