1. Preflight warning of unlicensed stock / watermarked images from CC Libraries

   When publishing Preflight could warn of unlicensed stock / watermarked images from CC Libraries that are visible in the document.
   This would help prevent such mistakes from making it into the final published version.

2. Integrate PDF comments directly with Document Cloud 'Send for Review'

   Currently it's very effective to download a PDF from Document Cloud after using the Acrobat DC 'Send for Review' and then import the comments into InDesign using the PDF comments panel.

   It would be great to cut out the Acrobat round-trip and have InDesign export a file for review directly to Document Cloud, and then automatically add the reviewers comments back into the ID workspace.

3. More error information when exporting to PDF

   Problem Description: There are some times when exporting to a PDF, the dialogue box will show there is an error which results in no PDF being created. That is all the information we get and therefore have to guess what the problem is. Some more information would be useful.

   When exporting an interactive PDF, I noticed that you get far more information when the PDF is being created.

   If we had this information added to the Background Tasks when exporting a normal PDF, it would give us a clue what page is causing the problem.

   I've attached a screenshot to show what I mean (the screenshot was taken when exporting an interactive PDF)

   Steps to Reproduce:
   1. Choose File > Export or Adobe PDF presets
   2. When PDF is making, alt+click on the Background Tasks
   3. If there is an error, it will show with a yellow triangle - click on that triangle
   4. The alert window will show 'PDF Failed to Export'

   Actual Result: You just get told the PDF didn't work

   Expected Result: I would prefer some sort of progress text, such as Exporting pages, 1, 2, 3, etc so that when the error message comes up, I at least have some idea what page is causing the problem. You used to get this in Quark Xpress so I would appreciate this information in InDesign.

   Any Workarounds: Just export a series of pages at a time until the PDF comes up with an error.

4. Interactive button - Page destination - Acrobat

   In the menu 'Objects > Interactive objects > Convert to button' one get a panel with some options with mouse over effect and macros (what the button should execute after the use interact with it). So if you choose page destination 'Go to page' and then export to PDF (interactive) you get a warning error message, that the button will be visable in Acrobat, but the 'Go to page' commande will not work.

   This seems like an essential feature when dealing with interactivity.
   Please make it work directly within InDesign! It would be so much smoother than the workaround to make Acrobat native links afterwards. Would be a time saver!

5. Data Merge - allow "export to PDF" to have all features of regular PDF

   When using the data merge function of InDesign, it is currently not possible to export to a PDF with the same functionality as exporting a PDF from a regular document - several checkboxes such as "Create Tagged PDF" and include hyperlinks are greyed out. 8. Tagged form fields failed Accessibility checker options

   Form fields tags aren't exporting properly for tagged pdfs in the newest Indesign 2018 (13.0.1). The tags won't show up in the file therefore not allowing the pdfs to pass the accessibility checker. There are no issues when exporting as tagged pdf from the 2017 CC.

   I am frustrated with recognition for fields export from 2018 to pdf. I have been avoiding using 2018 for this reason. When you talk to Adobe you have to speak to an indesign specialist or a Adobe Acrobat specialist and neither one knows the other program!!! The Adobe expert tells me how to fix it in Acrobat, which I don't care! The Indesign expert says I am doing it correctly and it should work!! Arrrh!!!!

   I will keep using 2017 until this issue is dealt with!

10. PDF text box cannot have the option of a "comb of characters".

    PDF features - The text box in indesign cannot have the option of a "comb of characters". Also can we maybe be able to format these text boxes in InDesign rather than having to do it in Adobe Acrobat Pro.

11. Scheduled Export & Scheduled Export Queue

    Sometimes with larger documents, Exporting can slow down Indesign, or can even render my computer useless at this time.

    It would be a great option to be able to schedule the Export option for a time of my choice (at night when I know I wont be using my computer for example) as to not slow the computer down when I need to use it most. I envision the file still needing to be left open in Indesign for it to schedule and export correctly... But what I imagine is you would still choose all your options and everything as per normal, and only right at the end you select a 'Schedule Export', with a calendar like function, (Potentially limiting the user to schedule within 24 hours perhaps?).
    I can see this helping someone like myself, where an export can render my Graphic Design abilities useless for an hour or more as my computer has limited capacity and tends to chug when a large export is in progress. A Schedule function would mean I could leave the exporting until say... Lunch Break and when I get back, the exports could be completed by then.

    A STEP FURTHER would be Scheduled Export Queue, with a dialog box panel of Queued Exports, and the ability to rearrange the order of documents, and even a button to 'Export Now', when you are suddenly needing that exported document straight away (would be completed after a 'in-progress' export has completed)

    Hope this makes sense.

    Attualmente, chi esporta un PDF deve decidere tutto prima: pagine singole o affiancate, con o senza crocini, ecc. Il problema è che spesso chi riceve il file non specifica cosa vuole, e se sbagliamo l'esportazione non va bene.

    Non sarebbe fantastico se InDesign potesse generare un PDF in cui è chi riceve il file a scegliere come vederlo? Ad esempio, con dei semplici tasti per attivare o disattivare i crocini di taglio o per passare dalle pagine singole alle affiancate.

    Sarebbe una svolta: noi designer invieremmo un solo file "completo" e il destinatario potrebbe adattarlo alle sue esigenze con un click, risparmiando tempo e stress a tutti.

14. Add Javascript for creating interactive Documents

    So I had the nice task of creating an interactive PDF document. It needed a bit more logic than Indesign had to offer, so I was forced to use Javascript.

    Because Indesign can't add Javascript, the design file and the logic file were separated. I was forced to manually connect the two every time I needed to make a change in Indesign, adding nearly 40 hours to my workload and completely destroying my workflow.

    Just being able to add the scripts to the elements would have saved so much time.

15. Character Limits, Comb Line Form Fields and Font Alignment for Form Fields

    Hello,

    I would like to suggest that character limits can be set for comb line form fields. Also I would like there to be a possibility of creating comb line form fields (without creating tables). In addition, there should be alignment of the text as an option in the form field (whether left, center or right). This would save so much time and effort so that once the document is exported as a tagged PDF, those features mentioned would also be set. Finally, there should be a way to tag layout tables so that it does not register as a table when it is exported to PDF. Due to the fact that tables have to be used to create comb line form fields, once it is exported as a tagged PDF, the comb line form fields are tagged with Table tags. Once the Accessibility Checker is run in PDF, errors would be encountered as Table Summaries and Headers would be demanded by the Accessibility Checker. It is tedious to take out the tagged text out of the tables and delete the table tags in order for the info to not be read as a table. There should be a way to tag layout tables as such. I hope these requested features are developed in a timely manner as Adobe PDF is way ahead of InDesign in terms of development.

16. Interactive features retained when PDFs placed in InDesign

    When PDFs are placed into an INDD layout, and then the layout is exported to a new PDF, all of the interactive features in the 1st (or source) PDF are removed:

    -- Hyperlinks in the source PDF
    -- Buttons in the source PDF
    -- Accessibility tags and functions in the source PDF

    It's as if the PDF is treated like a dead graphic. All of the interactive features built into it are lost and must be recreated manually in Acrobat.

    Two excellent examples of how disastrous this is for designers:

    1) When a magazine places a PDF of an advertiser's ad, the hyperlinks to the advertiser's website are lost and must be recreated manually in the final PDF. For a magazine with dozens or hundreds of ads, this is a helluva lotta labor to correct the URLs.

    2) When making accessible PDFs, a designer might place a PDF of the president's letter into the layout. The source PDF's text is accessible and tagged, but once the final PDF is exported, that's lost and the president's letter is a dead graphic. That type of item can't have Alt-text on it (Alt-text usually is limited to 200 characters). The real solution is for the letter to remain as live, tagged text in the final PDF.

    SERIOUS shortcoming in the InDesign-to-PDF workflow.

17. Offset Crops Marks bigger than 1 in

    We need the offset crops marks to be bigger than 1 inch in Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

    And Crops Marks should automatically offset the same distance as the bleed

18. Choosing book layers to output for Print/PDF

    I produce several multi-language books & brochures that consists of up to 114 separate documents linked via a Book file. Each language has its' own layer with the same name in all documents while other layers are exclusive to, or only exist in some documents. Currently when I have to Print or create a PDF of a specific language I have to open every single document to activate the layers I want visible, save, and then proceed to output the entire book.

    I would like to propose that Indesign incorporate an additional tab in its' print/pdf dialog boxes that lists ALL layers across all documents selected and allows the user to choose via a checkbox which layers are to be output.

    Furthermore I'd like to suggest layers with the same name work similar to how the Links dialog works where I could select the top-most label to output all layers with the same name -OR- have a drop down that lists the documents that layer name is found in & allows me to select which ones I want output or not.

    Additionally, I would like to be able to SAVE active layer settings so they can be reloaded rather than having to re-indicate which layers need to be activated/deactivated again when I go to reprint any particular language. This of course will likely require an indicator if available layers have changed within any of the selected files within the book.

    This would save a tremendous amount of time & effort especially when a change occurs across all languages requiring I output the entire book for each language. Currently having to open, activate/deactivate layers, & re-save every document for each language I need to output is extremely time consuming & ridiculous.

19. ability to choose layers to print in the print dialogue

    It would be nice to have the ability to activate/deactivate layers in the print / export dialogue box, especially when printing book-files which contains a lot of documents with language layers. Now I'll have to open all documents one-by-one to switch language before I can print /export the complete book file for that language.

20. PDF progress

    Hi When exporting to PDF, would it be possible in the next available version to put a percentage figure in the top left of the toolbar (next the the pdf bars). This would save having to open the background panel to see the progress of the PDF creation. Thanks from an inpatient designer. H
