  1. Data merge: Classification Master pages

    Es solle möglich sein, über die Datentabelle für jeden Datensatz eine Musterseite zuordnen zu können. Ähnlich wie QR-Code und Images bekommt die Spalte ein Sonderzeichen, in der die Bezeichnung der Musterseite steht.
    Nach der Datenzusammenführung hat dann jeder Datensatz die entsprechende Musterseite.
    Translation google: It should be possible to assign a sample page for each data record via the data table. Similar to QR code and images, the column is given a special character in which the name of the sample page is written.
    After the data merging, each data record then has the corresponding master page.

  2. Option to replace links with same name but different format

    When relinking a file, ID is able to check and relink all other links in a folder. However, I regularly have to use the relink feature to replace .tif dummies with finalized .psd files. The problem is that relink includes the extension of files in the name, so a tickable option to tell ID to change extension according to the first file you click so it then relinks all files with same name but the desired extension instead would save a lot of time.

  3. Automaticly update old files after large update

    After the last update(2020) of InDesign, i started creating a book file. When I loaded the files in the book file, all files had to manually be saved again in the new version of InDesign. When creating a book of more than 100 files, it is verry time consuming. To create alle the books(multiple each month whit files that are already created), i have more than 1000 files wich have to be updated to the latest file. To do this i have found a script wich make this less time consuming, but it is still a lot of work. I…

  5. Scroll document whilst Pop up window is visable (e.g Place)

    When any pop up windows like Save/ Place/ Export is open it is useful to be able to scroll the document in background.

    For example: In InDesign CS6 and you can scroll the document behind the Place pop-up window. In Adobe CC this function no longer works – which slows the design and layout process down.

    This feature was especially useful when producing books with many images in.

  6. Keep things in the grey area from moving

    When I put objects in the grey area of the workspace or use a guidelines across a spread and then add pages before it all moves. There is a reason that i've put guidelines on a certain page and objects next to a certain page, I might need them again and I certainly don't want them to be moved all over the place whenever i add pages.

  7. Arrange Documents icon

    The "Arrange Documents" icon in the Title bar is missing, I would love to have it back. It was extremely helpful. Now it wastes time to switch that from the Menu...

  8. Cross reference endnotes

    At present if you are in a particular endnote and wish to cross reference to another endnote, it is impossible to to obtain the new endnote number. While the list of endnotes shows the endnote number, it is not an option to choose just the number. So yo only get the full text of the endnote. This is different from cross referencing, say, a list of Figures where you can cross reference just the Figure and the figure number. Fo some reason the endnote number simply does not exist as a Paragraph Number

    We desperately need to be able to create custom signature sizes for 2-up Perfect Bound booklets. Right now the only options are 4, 8, 12, 16, and 32, which is extremely limiting. Adding blank pages to fill out extra signatures is a garbage work around leading to an unprofessional product.

  13. Duplicating pages in InDesign - but not at the end of a document

    When duplicating pages in Indesign they always appear at the end of the document. We should be able to select where in the document we want the pages to be added, as we do when inserting new pages.
    So, 'Duplicate Pages''; "Insert Before/After page XX" etc

  14. Export all data from the Links folder to Excel/.csv format

    Please, please, please make the entire Links panel exportable to an Excel (or .csv) file. I just spent five hours capturing all information for hundreds of placed images ONE AT A TIME. How nice it would be to be able to export the entire contents of the Links panel with one click. I know that it is do-able.

  15. InDesign - General ''style sheet and Master Page'' document attached to a book

    Hi All ! I think a ggod emprouvement can comes in InDesign with this idea :

    Right now, I'm often working on catalogs with multiple INDD files.

    Right now, I have to create a ''Base File'' where I configure all the styles of each sections/chapter and where I have to configure All the master page for each section of my catalog too.

    Well, each of my indesign file contains all the styles and, in fact, all the Master Pages of each section.

    Result : I star my layout with a file of 40Mo containing 30 Master pages.

  16. Allow designers to "group pages" for to provide easier re-organization

    Similar to grouping layers in photoshop and illustrator or styles in INDD, you should provide the folder option inside the pages panel to "group pages" to make sections easier to reorder.

  17. Managing multiple tabs in InDesign is an abomination

    Managing multiple tabs in InDesign is an abomination. Firstly, the tolerance between reshuffling tabs and pulling a tab out to a separate window is far too small. Try doing this on a 4K screen, move your mouse a couple of millimetres up or down and all of a sudden your tab is now it's own window. Worse still is that when you pull it back into the tabs, it goes right to the back.

    This leads me to my second issue. The lack of any way to reshuffle tabs that have multiple tabs in between. There are two ways to…

  18. Allow usage of Data Merge within the Slug

    We often use internal templates, that utilize the slug area of documents to handle file-specific data. Often we will utilize Data Merge to populate these fields, but we can only do so if our text fields are moved from the slug area, into the document. This of course forces us to move the slug-specific content back into the slug on what can easily be hundreds of documents.

    Please expand Data Merge to being useable for document text fields that don't lie directly on the page(s).

  19. Include chapter number in index

    I'd like to include the chapter number as prefix for the page numbers in the index.

    Background:
    I have a book with 60 documents. Each document has another chapter number and page numbering restarts in every document at 1. The chapter number is separately styled, so that it is an eyecatcher.

    The index for the whole book is placed in document 1. For a useful index I need the chapter numbers!

    My current workaround is:
    Before I update the index I enable the option "Include section prefix in page numbering" in EVERY document. Then I update my index and then…

    Ich finde es klasse, daß wenn ich Fußnoten zahlen schreibe, was ja meistens in Büchern die Quellenangaben sind, das die sich automatisch aktualisieren. Beim. Inhaltsverzeichnis geht es ja auch, bitte das für die Fußnotenzahlen auch machen. Vielen Dank 🙂 Bleiben Sie gesund.
