Include 2 or 3 InCopy licenses in CC or InDesign subscriptions or MAKE IT FREE!
InCopy is a great collaboration tool between two or more people.
But the way Creative Cloud subscription is going, InDesign is a powerful tool to me, but InCopy is totally USELESS. As a designer (not writer), I never need to use InDesign and InCopy at same time. In fact, I never need to use InCopy myself at all. InDesign along with InCopy suppose at least two people working on same job. Most of time the writer, who could actually use InCopy, is my client. It makes no sense to include InDesign and InCopy expecting that the same person will use…

"story list.xml"
Can someone please explain what the "story list.xml" is about, which (from time to time) is created when exporting to InCopy?
I have not found any documentation on this. Some inexperienced users are very irritated about this!

Import PDF comments in InCopy
If we're using a workflow that includes stories in InCopy, it'd be great if our editors/writers can manage the edits/markups to their content through InCopy so they can truly own the content (and prevent the back and forth of review/edits with designers and writers after a document has been reviewed).

Import pdf comments into InCopy
I would love to have my copy editor have the power to review and approve/deny the PDF comments.

Username for inCopy Assignments
Please remove the function that demands a username assignment to each and every inCopy assignment that is exported. It is a ridiculously unnecessary function and completely inhibits workflow. This function, at the very least, should have a disable option. It ridiculously irritating.

Changing the backgroung/page colour
I would very much like to be able to change the background colour in incopy. For example: a green page colour, with a silverish font colour. (the latter can be done already)
As a writer, I like to work on my own terms. So this would make me love incopy, and not just use it when I need to.1 vote -
InCopy - Export to PDF - option for hyperlinks
An option to include hyperlinks in InCopy's Export/Adobe PDF function would:
- Help editors in proofing rounds with authors
- Free up designers from having to export hyperlinked PDFs for author proofs from InDesign.
My editors work in InCopy and export PDF proofs for our authors to proof. Unfortunately, since the hyperlinks don't export, authors can't check them for accuracy.
Worse yet, Acrobat tries to make the links work but URLS split between lines result in broken links, giving Authors the impression the hyperlinks are there but incorrect. Having the hyperlinks actually export from InCopy will help our authors more accurately proof…

InCopy - Split screen view for Story and Layout
In Incopy it's only possible to use one view. Gallery, Story or Layout.
It would be great if we could also combine 2 views into one. With the 27" displays now in general use, we should be able to show one half of the screen in Story mode and one half in Layout mode.
This allows for users who need to change texts to show also the overset text in the story mode when the text in layout mode is not visible (due to the overset text).
Sometimes when editing the texts in Layout mode and then switching to Story…

Make Anchored text box and table content visible in InCopy story editor
Anchored objects only appear as icons in the InCopy story editor tab. This is no problem for photos and graphics, however:
My editors can't see tracked changes if they can't view the anchored text or tables in the Story Editor. They can make edits in Layout view, but can't tell if another editor made any edits.
Unlike InDesign where I can see track changes in the Story editor just by clicking in the anchored text or table, InCopy has no alternative — editors have only the Story tab and it doesn't appear there.
This is a crucial feature for us.…

Prevent manual formatting with InCopy
While IC users cannot create or edit styles when opening up an ID file, they have full access to manual formatting. This should be prevented (by option).

Visual change history in layout mode
I'm surprised why this has not been already implemented, but surely changes by multiple users (contributors) should be visible in Layout mode too. Also, a cross-checking feature between project versions should be considered. I am aware there are a number of plug-ins available, however they are not robust and surely such a low-level feature should be implemented into the main software. Most third-party office software have such features as standard.

Dynamic linking of icml and other files
Can you improve the re-linking fetaure for InCopy. Currently if the icma is refreshed, the project re-links the entire project which can take considerable time for large projects even when only a small number of icml or other files have been updated. Surely the who re-linking mechanism can be improved to be more dynamic and automatically update itself while working on a live project.

new button in Layer palette for visibility as in InDesign, also Preferences
On opening a file in InCopy CC19, CC18 and CS6 all layers are visible, no matter if any were set to be invisible in InDesign.
It would be helpful to have a button within the layer palette to set all layers to (in)visible as given in the InDesign source.
It would be even better if InCopy had a preferences setting that would allow you to open all documents with the visibility as given in the InDesign source. This would give InCopy user not only access to all layers, but also to decide whether they want to focus on what the…

Highlighting and Differentiating Notes/Comments for various users
As a copy editor and proofreader, it would be fantastic if InCopy/InDesign had a highlighting feature. The swatch options are fine but not great when I am trying to print a book in black and white and someone forgets to remove the colors.
I, and the designer I work with, would love to have some way to differentiate between Notes/Comments for editors, other proofreaders, and designers. Right now, everyone has to read all the comments, which takes a substantial amount of time to look through. Thanks!

Touch Mode for InCopy
Unless it's my incompetence, I see no touch mode for InCopy, whereas there is for InDesign. With Microsoft's ink editor option that is appealing to more and more people, I think it would awesome for Adobe to implement a touch mode (to use, for instance, on a Microsoft Surface with the Surface Pen) like InDesign's but more catered toward editors and writers.

It would be helpful to see how many tracked amends are in an InCopy file and PDFs of the InCopy amends
It would be helpful to see how many tracked amends and a break down of the type of amends eg. 7 insertions, 12 deletions etc. in InCopy and PDFs of the InCopy amends. Like you can do in Microsoft Word.
This is something that would be very useful for our company.

Turn on Track Changes by default for InCopy
Track Changes is not a default option when exporting assignments for InCopy; can this please be made default? Too much of a faff at the moment to ensure this happens every time InCopy assignments are exported.

We need an automated process to create multiple documents with one template.
Imagine a process where Company1 creates an InDesign doc/template. They attach it to a customer account where that customer can upload a CSV file to populate the stories in that doc. Let's say 5 stories
If that CSV had 30 rows with the 5 stories in each row then the InCopy > InDesign functionality would create 30 unique documents with potentially unique content.

My suggestions relate to InCopy/InDesign.
For quicker workflow when working with graphic designers trying to place/edit InCopy files from InDesign. Make a quick way for editors to check out from InDesign documents without having to physically open each document.

InCopy XD Integration
It would be superbly handy to be able to work with our copywriters to develop copy in InCopy for use in XD prototypes. We utilize the InCopy workflow with InDesign for print material, but that workflow would be equally beneficial for our web team.
