More features in buttons and forms
InDesign needs to add color/format options to the buttons and forms, specifically the fillable forms part so when you export, the form can be more than just black.

Page jump links
Hi! Just finished a document for a client. I had to export it to pdf and create all the page jump links in Acrobat. InDesign wouldn't let me keep the links I created when exporting to pdf. Hyperlinks, yes they work great. Page jump links for documents? We NEED this for client brochures, flipping books etc. I will be giving this artwork to the InHouse team so it's very clunky to have to give them the Packaged InDesign file and a pdf that contains all the selected areas that link to page jumps. Options to enter #firstpage #lastpage in PDF filename
It would be great if you could add the option to add #firstpage and #lastpage to PDF filename. Lots of typographers require that in order to keep publications in order.
I work for a monthly magazine and in our workflow we create single articles that we gather into an InDesign Book. This would avoid the need of renumbering ALL the publication filenames – in case something changes in the articles order of appearance – and rebuild the Book before the PDF creation (I do this via a script by Peter Kahrel that exports the Book as single documents)2 votes -

Keep range highlighted in pdf window so you don't have to highlight it by hand
When selecting a pdf preset, it opens the window to name the pdf, then opens the pdf window. In InDesign 5, you were able, at that pdf window, to just type the page number of the page you wanted to create a pdf of. The range option was already highlighted automatically. This was really easy and fast when creating multiple (especially 100 or more) pdfs of single pages of your document, for example: for a magazine or booklet that has to be sent to a printer. Preserve PDF export settings for document only
PDF export settings are actually preserved application wide. When exporting different documents InDesign remembers the settings and uses them for the next document. If you have to export only one page of one document you will export only one page of the next document (if that page exists).
InDesign should be able to store the export settings in the document if the user wishes to.9 votes -
Password Protect PDF Properly
I spoke to the support people who seemed to believe that it ok that locked pdf can be edited by third party software just not adobe software. If it is editable by anything it isnt protected. Retain hyperlinks within imported PDF files and export PDF file from InDesign
With many publications hosted online, we receive a lot of adverts containing hyperlinks as advertisers embrace the fact that specific web pages, websites, YouTube videos, Podcasts, email, social media and more can be embedded. Unfortunately, InDesign only see PDF files as image objects; therefore, hyperlinks are lost when the artwork is exported as a new PDF.
We currently patch transparent objects over the artwork, select text, then copy and paste to apply links to ensure all are seen after the PDF has been exported from our InDesign file.

Link to a Specific Page in external PDF File
I am building a 700-page pdf manual in InDesign. I can program a link to open a specific external pdf but I would like to be able to control what page in the pdf it opens to.

Embed InDesign's Acrobat export settings in pdfs so they can be retrieved by other users.
PDFs are often delivered in artwork packages with no indication of what settings were used to make them.
Files are then updated, localised, re-worked by other users (I specialise in localisation DTP) and then PDFs are required with the same settings.
If these aren't saved in the InDesign file then it would be great to be able to "import" the settings from a PDF that has been made with this feature enabled. It would save having to revert to clients who themselves may not know the settings used by the original designers / printers.

Export multiple joboptions with the same name as in the Indesign-menu
When saving joboptions, you are only allowed to save 1 joboption at a time. For someone who wants to hand over his joboptions to another person, this means you have to export every joboption bit by bit. That can last a long time!
Please allow to export ("save") multiple joboptions via the Pdf-Presets-Menu and include that the export saves the names of the joboptions!
((When exporting /saving one joboption, Indesign does not remember the name of it which is very annoying. Please change that!))

option to have PDF Export to output PDF using page number as prefix
Printer needs files with prefix page number. The export make no sense with it being at the end when you have different file names and won't allow the combining of multiple files with different names that I use to proof my magazines. By the way, scripts are not working using Monterey OS any more. What a disappointment.

Add all DC Pro Roles to inDesign Export Mapping
Currently, the export mapping for styles in inDesign is limited and does not include all the tags that are available in DC Pro. Some important tags that are missing are BlockQuote, Note, and Caption. This creates a lot of accessibility remediation on the pdf side because of role mapping is incorrect. If I have s style in inDesign called Caption then I should be able to use the export mapping features of that style to assign it to the reserved word Caption in DC Pro. This would eliminate unnecessary work and replace/find searches in the pdf when remediating for 508…

The option to remember FULL pdf export settings on a document by document basis
The changes that resulted in the previous similar request being 'closed:fixed' were only to remember the TYPE of file Indesign previously exported it as. Which is great, but we need an option for the FULL pdf export settings to be remembered. We need to be able to have documents remember all previous export settings as otherwise this very complex and problematic to communicate to others if working as a team. Or if you are exporting something again after a long while and no longer have the settings noted. Please help!

Please make clear that for PDF to be readable and indexed by Googlebots must have "Create Tagged PDF" checked.

Changes to the tab order interface - make it work like layers pallet
It would be great if the tab order box that allows you to reorder their order could function like the layer pallet - allowing you to simply drag the order up and down as required while the document remains active.
This would allow complex interactive pdfs to have fields added and reordered with ease.
