Allow for tabbing option for right-aligned Text that utilizes tabs to move through the tab stops from right to left, starting with the right-most tabs first and move left accordingly rather than moving to the left-most tab first then filling back in toward the right.1 vote -

Kerning Tables
Can you please build in the ability to export a kerning table for a font that I have manually kerned so I can use it again and keep adding to it as new combinations come up. This is something that is really restrictive for the Typographers amongst us and one of the things that is still really missed from the Quark days. I appreciate your general optical setting but it's really only a start point for fine tuning.

Convert Footnotes to Endnotes Feature

Text box
Instead of having to click and dragging to make a text box you should be able to click just once to create a text box, like in illustrator.

Outline font in indesign
When you outline font in indesign it should not adjust the stroke weight. Once you outline the font it should stay the same. Also add an expand feature would be nice in indesign so I don't have to keep jumping from program to program.

Preflight profile to target certain problem fonts
Would be nice to have a preflight profile or be able to customize a preflight profile to target certain fonts that are used in linked pdfs from customers. We Use Enfocus to process art and whenever Customers use Free or unlicensed versions of a certain font it causes Enfocus server to crash. Identifying these fonts when first placed in indesign would save our designers and printers time and many headaches. I do get warnings every once in a while, but it doesn't catch all of them. A preflight profile as a secondary check would be most helpful.

Verwendete Absatzformate
... wie bei den Farbfeldern: „Alle nicht verwendeten [Absatzformate] auswählen“ als Option im Absatzformate-Fenster.
Außerdem im 'Suchen und Ersetzen‘-Fenster (oder woanders) die Möglichkeit, ein angewendetes Absatzformat suchen zu können.

Give us a way to turn off "Space between paragraphs of same style"
I don't know why this new typesetting option was considered useful, but it is driving me crazy. Is there a way to turn it off?

Option for creating variable sets
At present we have an option to define the variables but it would be great to have an option to group the variables (like a set). This could help the writers in easily managing the content.

Improved default text settings
In Settings / Text, the checkbox "apply leading to whole paragraph" (or similar, I am using Swedish language) is unchecked by default. It has been this way since the stone age, but I can not see any reason at all why this should not be checked, leading to risk of errors. It should be checked by default.

Adjust Text Frame With Type Tool
It KILLS me every time I input or type text in INDD and get the cursed overset text error, but I have to switch to the Selection Tool to reframe the text box, then switch back to the Type Tool and continue. PowerPoint and even Google Slides allow you to move your cursor near the boundaries and adjust the size of the text frame without switching tools.
What's more, switching to different tools while editing type is slightly annoying. Because you can't hit 'v' for selection tool, you either have to click the selection tool or click outside the text…
1 voteYou can easily achieve this without the need to switch to the Selection Tool.
Hold down the Ctrl key (while you are in text edit mode or even when you are not in text edit mode or when the text frame that you want to resize is not even selected). When you hover the mouse over the text frame, you will see Resizing handles (shown as 9 solid points on the bounding box) – you can drag to resize the text frame.

Collaborating on translating
Hi everyone! First I have to say I love all the new features that are slowly being integrated into InDesign. But in all my honesty I really miss one..
We now can enjoy Share for review which I really love on getting comments from my clients. But what I would love to have is a online tool where my colleagues can enter translation for the file I worked on. Now I export files to pdf and make them in to a word file but that workflow takes a lot of time.
I know tools like redokun.com but they are expensive…

Anchored object - Contorna con testo
Object inserted in the text surrounds the first line of the paragraph with the inline or above line option but does not work on the first line of text with the custom option. Activate the surround with text even with the latter option. Thank you

“Split Footnotes” under Numbering & Section Options
Hello,
I want to ask for a little function tweak of “Split Footnotes”.
By now, you can only adjust “Split Footnotes” for the whole document.
This is difficult for documents with many pages! Sometime there are some footnotes in a chapter that you want to break over to the next page because they are to long. But the rest of the footnotes should be only on one page.
It would be nice to setup “Split Footnotes” as an “override” of the global function in the Numbering & Section Options in the Pages panel. So you can decide by the chapter…

A new Switch tool
Instead of ctrl+c, and ctrl+v, it could be invented a new function that switches existing text from a sentence to another. I would find it particularly useful in tables.
Ex:
I would like green apples
I would like yellow lemonsSelect green, ctrl+whatever, select yellow
Now I have
I would like yellow apples

Allow horizontal cursor position value to be copied
The Paragraph Formatting Controls show the Horizontal Cursor Position. It contains a numerical value, but it cannot be selected for copying.
I frequently use an "Indent to Here" character after an open quotation mark. But if I need to break a quotation into multiple paragraphs and quickly align the paragraphs to the position of the "Indent to Here" character, I need to manually enter the horizontal cursor position value into the Left Indent value.
It would be helpful to be able to copy the value of the horizontal cursor position, so I could paste it into the Left Indent value.

[Japanese]圏点の字数制限を外せないでしょうか。
現状では同時に文字の両側にルビをふることができませんが、右側にルビ、左側に圏点、同時に付けることはできます。しかし「圏点」はその性質上「一文字」しか許容されていません。考えられる対処は３つあります。①圏点の字数制限を外す。②圏点の機能をルビの機能に置き換える。③圏点の機能を「圏点＋ルビ（スーパーセット）」にする。もちろん③が望ましいですが、ニーズは極めて限定的と思われますので、①が妥当ではないかと考えます。UIもそのままで、複数文字を入れるとそのまま本文のセンター合わせで表示する。バグのようにも見え仕様のようにも見える、昔良く使った「裏技」を可能にするということです。ご検討ください。
