    I used to be able to select a frame and use the place function (cmd+P) to add an image to that frame. Now when placing images, it automatically creates a new frame.

    I have the same issue. When I open a document, it says an installed system font is missing. If I restart InDesign and open the same file, the font issue resolves. I noticed that it happens less if I don't use a custom workspace.
