    This is a feature I’ve been hoping for since InDesign 1.5 twenty years ago. Affinity Publisher supports this feature very well (see the screenshot). Please, make live of book designers easier and add this simple feature.

    Very useful idea. I often need Superscript+Italic or Bold+Underline or Italic+NoBreak.
    I also use Character Styles to define the text for Headers and Footers, but I cannot use Header+Italic.

    I have exactly the same problem. In the last few versions of InDesign CC2020. I suspect footnotes. This is very stressful bug, I can’t trust InDesign anymore the text frames are filled with text. I have to check EVERY page to make sure there are no extra blank pages :-(

    Hi, this could be solved very easily with a font. Create a font and replace or characters by an underscore. (Nevertheless, copy-paste to another app would reveal the hidden text.)
