The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2022(v17.0.0.96). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

Hi,
In order to reproduce the issue we sent information to all the affected users who have either voted or commented on this thread.
Based on the replies we got we could infer that the issue is occurring when a third party software or application is also running in parallel. Some examples of the software used include Global Auto-correct, Google Chrome,
Moreover, when the issue occurs it seems to hamper all CC applications such as Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
A possible fix for the solution includes restarting the application or restarting the system. In the absence of any consistent reproducible steps, we are currently closing this thread as “not reproducible”. In case you again encounter the issue, please create a new thread mentioning the steps with which we can reproduce the issue and additional softwares, if in case any, that you are using.
Thanks,
InDesign TeamAn error occurred while saving the comment Karl Gustafson commentedI noticed this today in version 13.1 (x64). It is a real pain. Normally the spacebar to hand tool shortcut works fine for all of my tools, except when utilizing the zoom tool which is likely where you would need it most.
If you zoom in and want to move around using the hand tool, it would just zoom in further. However, I noticed that if I am on the zoom tool, press the spacebar, move the mouse before clicking, then the hand tool works. It is a royal pain in the butt, but hopefully this helps. And more, hopefully Adobe fixes it. -

Adobe InDesign teamAn error occurred while saving the comment Karl Gustafson commentedThis is not fixed for me. I have 13.1 x64 on Windows 10.
When I copy a text frame from one document to another, ID is reformatting all text to my default font. Everytime.
Huge pain in workflow. Please advise.Karl Gustafson supported this idea · -

InDesign TeamAn error occurred while saving the comment Karl Gustafson commentedThe above suggestion resolved my issue as well. Don't know what that changes, but it fixes the two keystroke problem.
Karl Gustafson supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Karl Gustafson commentedVery similar to me. Updated to 13.1 today and when highlighting existing text in a frame to edit, I have to press the key twice. Giant pain in the butt and creating all sorts of errors in my document.
An error occurred while saving the comment Karl Gustafson commentedUpdated to 13.1 x64 today. Now when I highlight text in a text box to edit the text, it requires two keystrokes to achieve what use to be one. Existing text:
1/6 x 6/8 or something like that. I want to modify 1/6 to 2/0. I highlight 1/6 and type. The first time I hit the 2, nothing happens. Then I hit 2 a second time and it registers. This happens with any key. Please let me know. Did not do this yesterday before I updated. Again inDesign 13.1 x64 on Windows 10 Pro
I have 16.1 and this problem just started. Ridiculous
[update] the gear icon fix below worked for me as well.
