links don't work on exported PDFs when opened in Microsoft Edge
Hi there, so in my work I regularly have to make PDF's that have links and tables of contents. They also need to be printable.
To do this I build them in InDesign and Export as 'Adobe PDF (Print)'. This results in a file that navigates with the view I want with working links and the right colours etc.
BUT not on Microsoft Edge. Its taken quite a while to realise that that links don't work there. They will work in Firefox, Chrome and Acrobat with no trouble. PDF's made in other programs (I only tested Microsoft Word) work fine…

Exporting a page to an existing PDF file
Hello,
I've been using Indesign for over 20 years and I often come across the following problem: you're working on a large catalogue, you export it as a PDF and after proofreading, a page needs to be corrected. You apply the correction and export the whole catalogue again, overwriting the previous one, or (another method) you export just the corrected page and import it into the PDF using Acrobat tools. It might be interesting to be able to tell Indesign to export only the corrected page and to integrate it directly into the existing PDF in order to save time…

19.2 Arabic version, missing periods in exported PDF
In an exported pdf, periods (or other ending characters) at the end of paragraphs are missing, if the paragraphs were aligned right or justified in the original English version.
The time-consuming work-around option is to make the period LTR char direction.2 votes -
Hebrew that is conditioinal text does not export properly to PDF.
- This is the case in InDesign 19.0, 19.0.1, 19.1, current beta version. 2-4. Hebrew text with diacriticals (vowels and others) that is marked as conditional text exports to PDF incorrectly. Diacritical marks are missing or misplaced. Sometimes an unexpected box appears. The same file, with conditions removed exports correctly to PDF. (Other exports, e.g., JPG) are correct. The same file exports properly in 18.5
- Attached files: a. Hebrew text with condition applied and same text without condition applied. This is the pdf export. I would provide the indd file but this webpage does not accept indd files. b. Screen with…

fonts not exporting to pdf properly
I am using Indesign 2024 on Mac Ventura. Adobe Premier Pro Garamond Cyrillic fonts are fine in InDesign but do not show properly when exported to PDFs. This is ridiculous if not inexcusable. It's an Open Source, Adobe font. Spend time fixing issues like this instead of destroying programs by deleting scroll bars.

Dynamic hyperlinks in endnotes exported to an interactive pdf don't work
Endnotes within InDesign are dymanic, i.e. you can move between endnote number in body copy to the endnote reference by clicking the number.
If you export a document with endnotes to a Print pdf these dynamic links are retained, so you can click on a number to go to a reference and vice-versa. This is useful when you have a document of hundreds of pages.
However, if you export to an Interactive pdf the dynamic links no longer work, which is bizarre, as this is where you need them, not in a print pdf.
I have a document containing hundreds…

Certain placed PDFs look fine but become strange when part of InDesign export to PDF
InDesign version 18.3. The issue is explained thoroughly in this forum thread, with lots of example exports: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/pdf-export-messes-up-placed-pdf-and-is-affected-by-mark-bleed-settings/m-p/13957529
Summary: If you place either of the attached PDFs (which were made in Word for Mac), and then try to make a PDF from InDesign, the black rectangle that is in the background of the content will change size unexpectedly. It will always look fine in InDesign but mess up when exported. And the degree to which it changes will vary depending on various factors like marks and bleed, which should have nothing to do with the placed PDF.

PDF export wrong PDF version
We are using InDesign server 18 to export InDesign files to PDF. The last months (since november, when we updated from 17 to 18) we are noticing that we have problems with disappearing transparancy.
After a lot of research we found out that although the joboptions have the settings to export version 1.3, the server exports to version to a PDF 1.4. The PDF standard that is used is PDF X-1a:2003. This seems why transparancy is disappearing. I cannot reproduce this manually with the local version of InDesign I think because there is no possibility to use PDF-x1a:2003 and version…

Package-PDF and Export-PDF create different results
Mac OS Monterey 12.6 / Adobe InDesign 18.3
Function "Create Package" with a PDF and selected job.options (PDF Presets) creates PDF with wrong downsampling for images.
Function "Export PDF" with same PDF Preset creates PDF with expected quality
Why is there a difference?

We are an enterprise customer who haven't been able to get anywhere with the following:

Form elements are not exported correctly into PDF and fail Acrobat accessibility checker
When I try to produce an accessible PDF form from InDesign, all of the form elements fail Acrobat accessibility checker. In my case, I have checkboxes and text fields.
For example when looking into a check box element in Acrobat, the text label gets a <Section> and a child <P> tag and the actual form element a separate <form> tag (including the OBJR). How can this be?

Interactive PDF doesn't snap to fit when viewing in landscape mode on smartphones
I created a 14-page landscape document in InDesign (12.2.1) that will ideally be viewed on desktops and smartphones and I needed to add hyperlinks.
Adding hyperlinks in Acrobat causes glitches in the artwork (fonts distorted/ images shifted). Adding the links in InDesign exports great, but I’m creating this file to be viewed by anyone that wants to - which will likely be on a smartphone.
I view it on my iPhone and when I hold my phone vertically, I can see the full (landscape) page (albeit small). But when I rotate the phone to landscape (to make it bigger), the…

PDF Preview Issue/Transparent Objects Missing
PDFs set up for print are missing transparent objects in the image preview. Opened file looks normal and prints fine. It just throws my client off in a big way and that's NOT fine.
