The proper way to use this feature has been explained. It works like this:
The extra text frame (containing the Previous/Next Page Number) need not be linked to the text frame to which it refers. It just has to touch that text frame.
The way this feature works is that you have a text frame that contains some text on a certain page. That text continues on a different page that is random. So, for example, in a magazine, you have an article that starts on page 11, and then it continues on page 80. In that case, you will create a separate text frame on page 11, make it touch the text frame that contains the article and put "Continued on Page . Similarly, on page 80, you will create a separate text frame and make it touch the article and put "Continued from Page .

Copying an object in InDesign by holding down the alt-key and moving the object with the mouse doesn't work any more with InDesign CC18 under MacOS High Sierra. For me this is (has been ..) a key function in InDesign!5 votes
As confirmed by the user on email, the issue is no longer reproducible.
Reference Point moves on objects when one object on page is rotated. Indesign 2019 (14.0.1) If one (or more) objects on a page is rotated, then the reference point on other objects on the page changes as you select through the different objects. This applies to text, picture, and tint boxes. If you try and make the reference point the same on all objects on a page, say the upper left point, then select other objects, they have changed to a different reference point. This makes it very difficult to align objects from page to page.

Indesign help takes me to webpage that does not exist.
Safari can’t open the page “community.adobe.com/chcservices/services/redirect?u=http://help.adobe.com&p=InDesign_12.0&l=en_US&id=AH_HOME” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again.2 votes

Since the latest update (InDesign 15.1.2) you can no longer change the page numbering to roman numerals or a, b, c etc. When you make a new section and change the style of numbering system - nothing changes. You can also not make a page have a new number - for example change page 10 to page 20, it will remain as page 10. These are very important features of InDesign and need to be fixed as soon as possible.

The issue was resolved by trashing preference and cache.

These page and spread move shortcuts, listed under the Layout Menu, aren't working, making it very laborious to move through my 80 spread layout.1 vote
The paper size for A5 in the presets is technically wrong as it should be 148.5mm wide and not 148mm. You can't change the built-in presets but it would be really helpful to do so as our onward print workflow relies on 148.5mm wide files and it's really annoying to have to change it after it's all been designed if you forget to change the page size at the beginning.1 vote
A5 is exactly 148×210 mm and the customer has confirmed that there is nothing to fix.

File > New Document
In the new document dialogue box:
I want to create a custom document 190mm wide and 25 mm high.
I enter the 190mm in Width box
I enter 25mm in Height Box
I move out of the Height box and figure I have entered changes to 211.667 mm.
this happens no matter if I use the print or web dialogue window.
This makes it impossible for me to start a new document in the size I want
... so that's not a total pain in the **** is it?1 vote
Page size cannot be less than the combination of margins.
Expand the Margins in the “New document” dialog and change the Margins for the defined page accordingly.
When grouped blocks are moved to another layer and then ungrouped, they return to their original layer1 vote
This is a Feature of InDesign and not a bug.
If you want to stop this from happening, go to the Layers panel flyout menu and uncheck the option called “Ungroup Remembers Layers”. When this option is unchecked, the ungrouped items remain on the same layer as they were (when grouped) and will not return to their original layer.
Hope this helps.

Hello, I found some weird issues in Indesign CC 13.1 on Mac OS El Capitan.
When I place an object centerd in the middle of a document (for example
500 x 500 px) and I resize the document size to for example 700 x 700 px (something larger than 500 x 500), the Object won't stay in the middle, but moves to the right or left border - even I set the reference point within the transform-window to "middle" and also disable "double page".
Why does the object not stay centered at the document format?
I attached a PDF-File where…1 vote
Have you tried enabling the “Layout Adjustment” feature and then carrying out change of Page size?

It appears that InDesign CS6 or any of the later CC versions is incorrectly writing the page count metadata, such as CC2018.
This can be demonstrated using Adobe Bridge or ExifTool with the -XMP-xmp:PageImagePageNumber command.
Files consisting of 1 to 2 pages are correctly reported. In all cases, only 2 pages are being shown, whether the file has 3, 4, 128 pages etc.

There is a preference in InDesign to save preview images with document, by default ‘First 2 Pages’ is selected in that preference. You can change the setting as per your requirement. It is under ‘InDesign CC/ Edit→Preferences→File Handling’.
I've upgraded from InDesign CS6 to CC 2018, and cannot properly resize photos proportionately. Cannot locate "Auto-Fit" button though every tutorial/directions say this is what to use.1 vote
The Auto-Fit button is in the Control panel in CC 2018, just like it was in CS6. There is no change as such.
FYI, it is also present under Object > Fitting > Frame Fitting Options…
I am using the latest Version of Indesign CC 2018. (13.0).
The following bug exists in the previous version as well.
Create a new indesign document of (for example) 500 x 500mm.
Next, place some single objects close to the border, but stay inside the documentformat.
Now, go to "File; Document settings", where you can adjust the document size. Decrease the size from 500 x 500 to (for example) 400 x 400, with the Preview-Button ENABLED.
Wait for the moment until the Objects move OUTSIDE the document border, because of the to smaller fileformat.
Now, again increase the the…1 vote

My document has many pages, 50 or more. When I open the document, the pages panel, more often than not, is completely collapsed, and I have to manually resize it back so that I can see all of the pages.
I have the latest version of ID. I have been using versions of ID since 2001, and I never had this problem until I purchased this one. It makes me feel regret for buying it, I can tell you. It might seem like a small thing, but believe me it is annoying.
