Hidden spreads cannot been edited or viewed any more unless made visible again in Indesign V20.0
We've used hidden pages in document templates as help page and short tutorial as well as document status during our workflow. The fact that these don't print or export to PDF was the perfect usecase for that. Now with them not beeing processed in page numbering would have made them even more useful but not beeing able to acces, view or edit them BREAKS THEM totally for this. Please fix this and make them behave like before and exempt them from beeing count while pagination/page numbering. Thanks

With 20.0 release of InDesign, we have added a functionality to control the visibility of hidden spreads on canvas/document. Please note that the visibility can be controlled with a new toggle option. So, if you want to view your hidden spread on your layout, while still keeping them marked as "hidden" in the pages panel, it can can be done easily.
This new option/preference is available at two place:
- Window > Pages. On the bottom of the pages panel, a new icon has been introduced.
- View > Show Hidden Spreads
Here is the link to the latest helpx document that you refer to:

Hope this helps.

Ahh, OK that was so not obvious.
Good that it works though. Thanks!
