Big problems with Illustrator files in InDesign
When I change something in a linked Illustrator file it doesn't update the image on the page in InDesign even though it's refreshed in the link tab.
And today I saw that a part of an image was missing (a little bit was outside the image frame) in a pdf file. So I looked at the InDesign file, but it looked ok. Then I changed the image to show in high resolution and all of a sudden the page refreshed and the linked file was updated and was now showing the same error as in the pdf.
So it seems like a file that I made in Illustrator and update something in, isn't updating on the screen in InDesign. It's been a problem for around a year now. Both me and my colleagues complain about this all the time. So I thought I should tell you. It's really annoying. So please make sure that the screen is also refreshing if I update a changed file. It used to do that, but something was changed a while ago.

ID Version 15.0.1 (Windows)
IL Version 24.0.2 (Windows)I placed an Illustrator document in my indd file. When I change something in the Illustrator file, ID recognizes this with the yellow sign. If I click on this ID should refreshes the link, but instead nothing happened. Also if I try to relink the file in the Links menu nothing happened despite the yellow sign disappears.

InDesign does not recognize that an placed AI file has changed -- if the change is minor, for instance shifting graphics on the artboard. If Illustrator artwork is moved relative to the artboard, then just saved (command S), the file does not show as modified in the Links panel. In order for InDesign to see it as modified, the Illustrator file must be Saved As and overwritten. This is an ongoing problem for at least the last three iterations of InDesign, but specs are:
InDesign CC 2017 13.0
Illustrator CC 2017 22.0.0
OSX 10.13
