control panel disappears
Have upgraded to InD 2020 v 15.0.3 -- whenever i close all documents and then open a new one (i.e. when there is not already a doc open in InD), my control panel disappears and wont re-appear via tab or reset workspace. I have it set to floating. I have to close and restart my InD for the control panel to reappear again. Never had this problem before! Is this just my Mac or is it InD?

This problem still occurs in the last version of InDesign (19.2) on OSX. After many years, I have understood where is the bug: the control bar disappears as soon as you close your documents and it displays the "Home screen".
The solution is to deactivate it.
Go to "Preferences" > "General" > "Show Home Screen When No Documents Are Open". -
Same problem exists for years in every version of InDesign. The problem occurs when you close all opened documents, the floating control panel disappears.

I am having a similar problem with the control panel disappearing - it happens often, and the only fix is have to switch to different workspace settings to make it reappear, but it doesn't last long. I don't know of any one thing that is making it disappear.
