i guess this is the correct issue. the workspace won't let me make it less tall when it unexpectedly extends & the bottom edge of the workspace / pasteboard goes below the screen (on a 27K imac!!!!)
and nothing will change it to make it shorter. I can shorten a photo or frame without having to grab it, why can't i shorten or make less wide this dang layout board / application fram / workspace???
ALSO i can't consistently grab the top of the frame and slide it up down, left right. it won't respond at all!!! occasionally it does but rarely. when it gets oversized it won't respond.
indesign 17.2.1
imac 2020 5K big sur. os x 11.6.5

The location of the fix has changed, at least for this Mac user. Now go to Preferences>User Interface Scaling to fix this.

SOLVED! Looks like all you have to do is...
uncheck 'For High-PPI Displays, Scale the User Interface'
under Edit > Preferences > UI Scaling -

Same. Can someone please fix? Changing the resolution of my screen within my computer settings works, but then it makes PS and AI far TOO small and I have to readjust each time when toggling back and forth between apps. I work on giant catalog projects and need to work in all three apps seamlessly. This klunky big interface is a giant inconvenience.

I have this probleme too,
On my screen you can compare Illustrator normal size. On the right, InDesign is too big!!
I have search in Adobe community but nothing is conclusive. When i try to change in the setting's app, InDesign gets smaller than Illustrator!
It's realy uncomfortable! Do something please...
