double layout page has become a PB spread. some pictures missing
In a 36 page document one double page spread has become a PB spread. some pictures missing, page numbers should be 8 and 9 but show PB instead, page background is grey instead of white, see screen shot attached.
This is a disaster as I have to get the completed magazine to the printer ASAP!
Version InDesign CC 2018. Created a 36 page magazine. Checked back through the layout and found pages 8 and 9 were not normal. Not what I expected.

I just had the same issue, huge Panic! About 1/4 of a 66 page doc in progress was gray and black instead of a white page and the page number = PB.
I got it resolved.
What worked for me was:
1) Save Doc
2) Close Indesign
3)Make sure I am on latest version (16.4)
4) Open new version & troubled file
5) Package troubled file
6) Open IMDL version (it took ages)
7) All ok (bar one or two missing images)I hope this helps some people, still not sure why this happened.

I am having this issue right now. I have exported a .idml file and reopened that, but I still have the problem.
I do not now what step created the problem, but I *can* package my document and send it. Is santalwa@adobe.com still the right address to send to?

I have the same issue, except that I am using InDesign 2020. I have a 200+ page document that suddenly converted 22 pages into pasteboard pages, displaying "Page PB" with a grey background. Most disturbingly is that some of my images have completely disappeared. They are still listed in my links list, but they have "PB" rather than a page number.
When I add new pages and copy/paste the corrupted pasteboard pages, the missing images are still missing. This is very frustrating as this project is time critical and must go to print urgently.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm on version 14.0.3 and just had this issue with 2 spreads in a 72-page magazine layout. To work around, I did the same thing as "Ly", and placed 2 new spreads and copied the info from the buggy pages to the new ones and deleted the old ones.

A bit late but I figured some people may still be having similar issues.
I came across this and the way I worked around it was to create a new page in the same document. Simply copy and paste my content across to the new page then delete the old PB page.
