1. Panel flyout menus do not open on external displays/expanded desktops — they open only on primary display

   I keep all of my tool palettes on a secondary monitor on Mac OS (now Sonoma) running the latest version of InDesign.

   None of the flyout menus will open when the tool palettes are on a secondary display. However, I find if I drag the tool palette over to my Primary display, the flyout menus work again (until I drag them back to the external display).

2. Incorrect ligatures in InDesign 2024

   In Indesign 19.0.1, ligatures are replaced incorrectly in German. Comparing these with the same document in 18.5.1, where they appear correct, this appears to be a bug in the new version. One screenshot is from INDD 2023 and the other from INDD 2024.

3. Color Swatch Menu Closes Upon Right-Click

   1. Adobe InDesign v19.0 When I click the color swatches panel menu dropdown, the menu drops down, and I am able to edit existing swatches and I am able to add new swatches. The problem occurs when I attempt to right-click on a color or if I press the hamburger button at the top right of the panel. When I try to do either of these, the entire menu closes.

4. [ID-4245422]Underlines are drawn in the space left by "danraku jisage".

   When I use "danraku jisage " in the "mojigumi akiryou settei" , an underline is underlined in the empty space at the beginning of a line.
   Since there are no characters in the empty space, it is correct that underlines are not underlined in the same way as when indentation is used to lower the line.

   「文字組みアキ量設定」で「段落字下げ」を行ったとき、行頭の空いている部分にも下線が引かれてしまう。
   空いている部分には文字はないので、インデントで下げたときと同じように、下線は引かれないのが正しい。

5. [ID-4236204]Using “Paragraph Borders and Shading” on frame grid, it is incorrect to base them on grid attributes possessed by the frame grid

   InDesign Version CC2018 or newer

   1. “Paragraph Borders and Shading” are usually generated based on the outline of the glyphs in the paragraph to which they are applied.
      This is true even if they are grid-aligned on a text frame (Figure 1-a, right).
      However, when the same settings are made on a frame grid, for some reason, they are generated based on the grid attributes of the frame grid, not the glyph outlines.
      This always occurs based on the grid attribute of the frame grid, regardless of whether the text in the frame grid is grid-aligned or not (Figure 1-a left).
      The “Paragraph Borders and Shading” setting in Figure 1-a is the same for both (Figure 1-b).
      In Japanese typesetting, such operation is rarely used.
      In particular, it is never done when paragraphs that are not grid-aligned are mixed within a frame grid.
      For this reason, “Paragraph Borders and Shading”cannot be used when using a frame grid.

   2. Then, it is not so if “Paragraph Borders and Shading” can be somehow operated as long as they are grid-aligned in the frame grid.
      In Figure 2-a, it can be seen that the "Paragraph Border" that occurs in the right and left paragraphs is different.
      Both the right and the left have the same settings (Figure 2-b).
      The only difference is whether it is at the top of the paragraph or in the middle.
      This phenomenon occurs when the “Gyodori”setting is used.

   From the above two points, I believe that the developer does not understand how the “Paragraph Borders and Shading” should occur on the frame grid at all.
   “Paragraph Borders and Shading” should occur on the frame grid, just as it does on a text frame, based on glyph outlines, and should not be affected by grid attributes.

   このため、フレームグリッドを使用している時には、事実上「段落の囲み罫と背景色」は使用できない。

   2.　ではフレームグリッド内でグリッド揃えをしていれば、「段落の囲み罫と背景色」は何とか運用できるのかというと、そうではない。
   図2-aでは、右と左の段落で、発生している「段落の囲み罫」が異なることが見て取れるだろう。
   右も左も同じ設定である（図2-b）。
   違うのは、段落の最上部にあるか、半ばにあるかだけである。
   この現象は、「段落の行取り」設定をしているときに発生する。

   上記の2つの点から、開発者はフレームグリッド上で「段落の囲み罫と背景色」がどのように発生するべきかを全く理解していないと考えられる。
   「段落の囲み罫と背景色」は、フレームグリッド上であっても、テキストフレーム上と同じように、グリフ外形を基準として発生するべきで、グリッド属性に左右されてはいけない。

6. InDesign 2023 (18.0) Screen not refreshing

   Half the time or more, page down/up and zoom do not refresh the screen. Attempting to select something just draws the rectangle around nothing. Finally through a variety of erratic body movements, thrashing and random gestures, ID wakes up. This is a huge step backward from v17. Productivity severely hampered.

7. Error message "Save File Operation Failed" seen for PNG/JPEG export in Adobe InDesign 2024

   InDesign 2024 (v19.0)

   In v18.5 any design can be Exported as a JPEG or PNG.

   When I Export a design to JPEG or PNG in v19.0 then I get the "Save File Operation Failed" message and the program freezes - see attached screen shot

8. Adobe Caslon Pro: Glyph as bullet does not function

   InDesign version 18.2.1 (Windows 10 x64). I would like to use a glyph as a bullet (the opentype digit 3 of Adobe Caslon Pro - an acorn). In the paragraph style box for my "Bulleted list" style, I am trying to add the bullet. When I click "add" and then click "ok," a standard round black dot appears in my list of bullet characters to choose from. If I try to add my preferred glyph (or any of the other opentype glyphs from the font's set, for that matter), the program tells me: "The selected bullet already appears in the Bullets and Numbering dialog box with this font and style association. Specify a different font or style, or select a different bullet." I also cannot add the glyph as bullet manually in the lists window. In short, adding a glyph as bullet is not functioning. There has been extensive discussion of this issue on the Adobe Support Community. Many people have suggested numerous solutions, but none have worked. For steps attempted to resolve the issue, see: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/glyph-as-bullet-not-functioning-in-paragraph-styles/m-p/13723795#M523395. One user has pointed out the encoding of ornaments in the most recent version of the font as an issue. I hope that you will consider remedying this apparent bug. Thank you.

9. [ID-4261362] When using real endnotes in InDesign and exporting as a tagged PDF, the tag tree isn't created correctly.

   When you use real endnotes in InDesign and export as a tagged PDF, the resulting tag tree is not generated properly.
   This behavior can be reproduced for at least for InDesign 16, 17, 18.

   Result now:

10. [ID-4252110]Place (cmd+D) can't see tagged folders on mac

    Place command (cmd+D) can't see the tagged folders, so i can't find my documents quickly as it should be...

    All other commands (export cmd+E for exemple) allow me to navigate from my tagged folders.

    Please add the same option to place command.

11. PDF/X-1a運用において、危険度が高い「画像の配置方法」を発見しましたので報告させていただきます。

    Indesign （15.1.3）（16.4）（17.3）などで以下の現象を確認できます。
    表を作成し、「セルをグラフィックセルに変換」という機能を使用せずに、空のままのセル内に画像を配置します。
    配置方法は、何も選択していない状態で「ファイル」、「配置」、画像を選択して「開く」、配置先のセルをクリックといったものです。
    この配置方法でドキュメントを作成し、「プリント」より出力して確認したところ何の問題もありません。
    印刷会社へ渡すためのPDF/X-1aを「書き出し」より出力します。
    期待する結果としては、「プリント」からの出力結果と同等のPDFが作成されることです。
    実結果は、Illustratorのドロップシャドウが黒ベタに、同ぼかし効果が無効に、Photoshopのレイヤマスクが黒ベタになったPDFが作成されてしまいます。
    以上です。

12. Opening documents as tabs cannot be deactivated

    Always open documents as tabs even if you have not selected this in the settings under User interface -> Open documents as tabs. I need different window sizes and find tabs impractical.

13. When adding a list to a Right to Left Paragraph, tab leader disappers

    1. InDesign (Middle East) 18.1.0.51

    2. In a Right to Left Text Frame type a few words in a Right to Left Paragraph direction, following by tab with a period leader definition and then type a any any number so you will get dots between the last word and number (like in TOC). See in the attached image. Selceet one of the list options (numbering or bullets) to see the tab leader disaapers.

    3. Numbers or Bullets should be added at the begining without change the rest of the text.

14. [ID-4261015]Can't grab window

    When working on an InDesign file, when I need to grab the InDesign window (by clicking and dragging) and move it, I usually have to make three attempts before my mouse "catches" the window. InDesign 17.2, Mac Studio OS 12.3.1. It's very random when it works and not works, but mostly it doesn't work on the first attempt.

15. InDesign not displaying actual (print) size

    InDesign 2021 does not actually show you the printed size of the document.

    There are two potential (and faulty) options to achieve this currently:

    1. Set the zoom level to 100%: On various forums I've read that this should let you view the document at actual print size. A document that physically takes up 10x10cm on your screen, should print at 10x10cm.

    In effect, that doesn't happen and the 100% renders my document at a way larger size than what it's actual size. (I'm literally holding up a ruler against my screen, and a 10cm wide page is about 20cm wide on the screen).

    1. Go to view>view actual size: This one comes closer - the document (and thus objects in it) are rendered about 1.3 smaller than the real-actual dimensions they'll be printed at (as opposed to 2 times bigger in the previous method).

    Again, this doesn't actually work and I'm wondering what it's intended to do.

    My suggested solution:

    I'm using a 4k, 15.6" Dell monitor, and photoshop did this also. It even has a "printed size" in addition to "actual size", which also didn't render things in their correct size.

    I understood that photoshop assumes all screens are at 72dpi, and that causes the incorrect rendering. After "telling" photoshop my actual monitor dpi, which is 283 - it began rendering things correctly when choosing "view print size".

    I when to edit>preferences>units&increments, and tried setting the "points/inch" setting. It was at 72 at default, and I thought that setting it to 283 would solve the problem.

    When I tried doing so, a popup came up and said "the value must be between 60 and 80". So this obviously doesn't work. I'm wondering why this would be the case, as screens today have dpi's of way over 72 and 80.
    Maybe allowing entering higher dpi's will solve this problem?

    Anyway, if anyone knows a solution/idea on how to display print size, I'd love to hear it.

16. [ID-4236366]Scripts using BridgeTalk do not work on M1 Macs (regardless of CC version)

    ID version: InDesign CC 2021 (16.3.2)
    OS: macOS Big Sur 11.5.2
    Processor: Apple M1

    When I try to run a script that uses BridgeTalk and works with Photoshop, it does not work.
    Also, a simple script using BridgeTalk will not work as well.
    Those scripts do work in CC 2021 on Intel Mac and macOS Big Sur 11.5.2.

    To place a graphicItem with text wrap, it is not an object-based indent like 2020, but a text frame-based indent before 2019.

    2 Steps to reproduce the issues
    1. Make TextFrame. To places graphicItem above the textFrame and set text wrap.
    2. The indent set in the textFrame does not take effect for the object for which wrap text is set like before 2019.

    3 Expected result
    Indent set in the textFrame does take effect for the object for which wrap text is set like 2020.

    The indent set in the textFrame does not take effect for the object for which text wrap is set like before 2019.

    To place a graphicItem with text wrap, it is not an object-based indent like 2020, but a text frame-based indent before 2019.

18. Find/Change Text dialog does not show all Search options.

    after making a selection, the Find/Change text dialog sometimes does not offer Selection in the Search dropdown. It will be present under GREP and Object, but not Text and Glyph. Closing/reopening Find/Change does not fix it. Restarting InDesign usually fixes it...until it goes missing again.

19. Anchored text box in a table cell with text threads crashes when cutting

    As the title says. It sounds similar to past bugs.

    First, create a text box and add a table.
    Create a separate, new text box and add a single character in it.
    Anchor the text box to any cell in the table.
    Enable "Show Text Threads" from the View > Extras menu.
    Selecting and attempting to cut the table will lead to a long hang and crash.

    This is on the latest version of InDesign at the moment, 17.0. I am on Windows 10 20H2 19042.1288. I can verify this occurring on two separate systems.
    I've included a video walking through the steps to reproduce the crash.

    As the title says. It sounds similar to past bugs.

20. [ID-4224415]Accessibility Tags order to match in InDesign and PDF

    Accessibility tag tree is not matching as per InDesign XML tag structure. We are doing more manual work to re-arrange the tag tree as per PDF view in Acrobat. We need to fix this bug in InDesign and match the tag tree as per InDesign tag structure for the accessibility PDF.
