  1. Tracking gets lost with IDML

    Hi guys,
We use the IDML format to transfer data with our translation office. I realized when I open the translated IDML files again the paragraph styles which include values for tracking in paragraph or character styles lost these values.
I hope no ther settings in the styles are affected.

Is there a workaround to fix this or is it already on the bugfix to-do-list?

  2. CAT does not import an IDML which seems to have empty stories

Hi, I need to import the attached document into my CAT Tool. But, once the document is exported, it seems empty. I noticed that the files have empty stories; all the text seems to be stored elsewhere. This is the first I have seen IDML files like this. Could you tell me, if the designer have missed sth? Best.

  3. idml rechtecke verschoben

    Emely

  5. file size 2020

Hi all, we have 2 issues that could do with some input.

    1. on certain files exported from Indesign 2020 (15.0.2) to IDML, soft carriage returns are being added throughout our documents, it didn't do it from 2019?

    2. On the Macs the Indesign 2020 file sizes seem to be at least 30% bigger than saving from 2019 (14.0.3) and different again if we save the same file from the Windows 10 versions. Is anyone else finding this?

  6. IDML

Found a bug (in all versions of InDesign) where an IDML does not have the correct CustomGlyph string:

    1. Create a text box and select the font "Zapfino".
    2. Using the Glyphs panel, choose the character for the word "Zapfino" (which is GID 1059). Export to IDML. The IDML will open fine.
    3. Select the character again and change the font to Times. The character will become "uhorngrave", which is GID 1059 in the Times font.
    4. Export to IDML. Open the IDML and it will display as an invalid character.

The bug is because an IDML does not contain the Glyph ID and…

  8. Idml export issues

I have a file that won't export a fully formed .idml file. Here's my setup.

    MacOS Mojave 10.14.4
    InDesign 14.0.2.324

Steps to reproduce: export or save one particular file as .idml format; open resulting .idml file.

Expected result: file should open as a new document.

Actual result: an error dialog pops up saying the file cannot be opened, with the error 'not well formed.'

This only occurs with one particular file, but it occurs on any Mac used to export the file, and with InDesign version 14.0.3

I have also tried to open the CC 2019 file in CC 2018,…

  9. IDML Table style EndColumnStrokeType attribute missing

When an Alternating Column Pattern is created in a Table style any value for Type does not get exported to IDML.

I would expect to find the EndColumnStrokeType attribute, but it is never created. The equivalent StartColumnStrokeType, StartRowStrokeType and EndRowStrokeType attributes do exist.

The missing attribute is not documented in the IDML specification PDF.

    Using version: 13.1 x64

  10. Inner shadow applied to all images in document

I have a long document that crashed when I attempted to export to interactive pdf. I saved the file to IDML to fixed the problem. However, a new issue has been introduced. Many of the placed images and some graphic boxes, including master pages items have an inner shadow effect applied to them. I am using the current CC version of inDesign

  12. Numbered list gets corrupted when saved and opened as idml

Version: Indesign CC 13.0 x64 Windows (and Indesign CC 2017)

    1. Create 2 paragraphstyles
    2. For ParagraphStyle 1 set bullets and numbering To List Type 'Numbers' and name it 'Multiple Choice' (or something else) and Level 1
    3. For ParagraphStyle 2 base it on ParagraphStyle 1 and change the text color
    4. Create some paragraphs with different combinations of these styles.
    5. Save as idml
    6. Open the idml
    7. Look at the paragraphs of the second paragraphstyle, you will notice that paragraphStyle 2 has a numbering of his own and no longer the mix with paragraphstyle 1.

Expected result: Same as before the save to idml.…
