Background Tasks button for progress bar while saving
To duplicate. Export large document to Print PDF, attempt to save while exporting, but background task prevents saving, ok, but only available option is cancel.
Change would be to add another button to the dialog box to bring up the Background Task progress bar.
Or an OK button to just return to unsaved document, but panel could then be opened to follow progress.
Or leave dialog open and allow access to the small animated progress indicator in the top bar to open full background task panel.
Or allow access to the panel/tab from the sidebar.thank you

Remember last export format
The recently released feature to remember export settings and have them stick with individual documents was a good concept, but it has not been fully implemented.
As it stands, all it remembers is the 'type' of file that was exported – which in most cases is pretty pointless. I'm sure people know when they export their file whether it needs too be an EPS or a PDF.
What I thought the feature was going to be was something that remembered the complete export settings – for example with a print PDF it could keep the info relating to compression settings,…

Determine which image(s) are causing a problem with a pdf export.
It would be great if a future version of Indesign was able to determine which image file(s) could be causing a problem when trying to make a pdf, and error messages appear or it is not even possible to make the pdf. It takes a long time to find the image that is causing the problem when we have very large, multi-page documents. Thanks

Packaged PDFs
Please make the default for packaging PDFs include a .125 bleed, not 0 bleed. As a printer, or best workflow is pdf, but 99% of files received from clients contain no bleed when they are packaged. Also, I have not found a way myself to change the bleed amount for a packaged pdf. Please make this easier to edit as well.

Allow movie objects to be placed behind other layers
I am working on a huge airport project at an architecture firm, and we want to be able to respond to requests for information with animation files, however, we cannot maintain our standard format because the movie files, when placed in an indesign file and exported to an interactive PDF, shift to the front layer and obscure all the written information we wish to include along with the file. I am considering using AfterEffects to create an entire animation with text overlayed, but the ease of use of InDesign would be sorely missed.

Correct the Distiller code which prevents pdf generation of large InDesign documents
When using InDesign and creating a page layout larger than 200 inches wide, InDesign is unable to distill a press-quality pdf. This issue has been around it seems since 2015. The software code in InDesign's Distiller code needs to be finally fixed. The usage of large banners is growing and the inability to generate pdf the same size as an InDesign document is a defect and bug that needs to be corrected.

when creating pdf output, please make the crops .5" when bleed isn't specified, right now it saves to a weird measurement
when bleed size isn't specified and crop marks are checked, pdf when exported adds a weird measurement to contain the crop marks. please let it be a standardized .5" -- that way when a pdf shows crops and bleed you can know that the finished size is 1 inch smaller, not have to do math with .389 or whatever. this will also help with print production as trimming in bindery is now mostly digital. the guys can punch in .5" and not have to do math or be fractionally off.

Restrict PDF-export to predefined presets
Allow administrators to setup Indesign, restricting/forcing users to only be able to use predefined PDF-export presets, without the option to deviate from these settings

Disable PDF export override
Administrators should be able to disable PDF-export overrides. By doing this, during the export pdf process, users should only be able to select a PDF-export preset, but not be able to change the predefined settings.

Expand exporting options to include splitting an ID file
I would like to be able to export multiple-page InDesign files as single-page pdfs and use the section markers as the pdf file names.

Interactive PDF Formulas
In Acrobat it is possible to set up simple math formulas such that when a user fills in a box, it auto fills some other boxes. Why can't I just do that in InDesign?

Keep active links when placing PDFs in InDesign
When you place a PDF with text and links into an InDesign file, the links are lost when you export the final file to PDF. This happens because InDesign treats the placed PDF as an image, so the links do not stay active. It would be very useful if the links of a placed PDF could remain active when exporting from InDesign to PDF. Thanks

More controls for exporting form fields to Adobe
When exporting interactive PDFs, please include functions to (1) toggle on/off the highlighting in Adobe; (2) visually manage tab order without having to close and reopen the panel for each page; and (3) enable Reader users to fill-in forms.

Support compressing images with WebP when exporting with Adobe PDF Presets
When exporting a PDF, there are several options to compress images: JPEG, JPEG 2000, ZIP. And we can choose the image quality, from Min to Max. To a degree, PDF file sizes can be reduced with these settings, but at a certain point the image quality is too poor for anything meaningful. WebP has incredibly high quality for a low file size, plus it supports an alpha channel.

Regarding New InDesign PDF Editing Feature
Hi,
I hope this message finds you well.
We recently became aware of a new feature currently in beta within Adobe InDesign, which allows users to open and edit PDF files directly in InDesign. While we understand this can be a powerful enhancement for many workflows, we would like to raise a concern from the perspective of an enterprise customer.
We frequently shares open PDFs with clients and external partners for review and approval purposes. The ability to convert these PDFs into fully editable InDesign files—even in its current limited beta stage—presents a significant risk to the security and integrity…

The source of the alt text should default to the alt text from the image.
The source of the alt text should default to the alt text FROM the image. Don't make me have to change it for every image.

convert metadata description to alt text
It would be so helpful if there was an option for image metadata like "description" or "keywords" could be imported as the alt text. Right now we need to go click on every picture to type it in for every document that image is used in and it is time consuming. If I could just add a description in the image in bridge/photoshop and then have that imported as alt text, it would save so much time trying to reprocess all our documents to be accessible.
