Deleting and merging layers functions
Many times with large files or files that have been passed to you from other designers, you may have to clean up the layers, and delete or merge layers. It would be great if when you go to delete a layer and you are notified that it has one or more objects on it, that it would tell you what pages those objects are on, so you can go there and deal with those objects (ie the Preflight panel when there are errors on particular pages). This would be especially helpful when dealing with large multi-page documents, so you don't have to hunt through it page by page to find the offending objects.
Also, when you merge layers, if you are given a dialog box that asks you which layer you want to merge the layers into, and if you want to rename the new resulting layer.
Thanks

This post is 4 years old now and I found it by searching for this exact issue. It would be really nice if this had been implemented as a feature by now. I have a layer I want to delete, but it gives me the warning there is an object in that layer. I have a 240 page document and don't want to page through each page to find that object (or objects since it doesn't even give you that information.)
