'Apply Similar Filter' character addition
As already used in Photoshop and Illustrator, the 'Apply Similar Filter' to text and character seems like a logical step, given that InDesign is a primarily text heavy application, being able to select similar fonts would be a must in my books.
This is now available in InDesign CC 2018. Thanks!!

Hi Javed,
Thanks for getting back to me. My request is purely putting what already exists in Photoshop and Illustrator into Indesign. The idea is basically to have a Character Filter that chooses fonts in the users system that are 'similar' to what they had previously chosen. So in Photoshop already... When you choose a font, and then you decide that whilst its good, its just not right and you want something similar, you click the 'wavy' line and it filters your fonts based on its similarity in look. If I could post a picture I would be able to show you more directly, but as a user may have hundreds (maybe thousands!) of fonts.. to be able to sort those fonts based on look would be a helpful feature, especially when you cant remember what the font names are! Thanks again

Thanks *** for making this request.
Will it be possible for you to define the workflow on how you would end up using this. I have some ideas but getting your perspective would be really helpful.
