  1. Page background colour

I would like to suggest implementing a feature that allows users to assign or set an individual background colour for each page—rather than using the default white, especially for documents with large number of pages with different page sizes. This feature should be integrated with swatches, eliminating the need to create separate coloured rectangles on each page.

  2. Parent Pages

Parent pages are very helpful, but can only impact the very the bottom layer of the page it's applied to.
Would be helpful if a parent page could contain both layouts (base layer and/or an overlay layer), or the ability to apply up to 2 parent pages (base parent / overlay parent) to a page.

I'm sure every InDesign user who has ever used Parent Pages can see value in this feature:
Watermark graphics, common headers/footers/copy over changing images, etc.

  3. Feature request: one-click document sanitize / rebuild

    Hello,

I’d like to submit a feature request based on a recurring issue we see in long-living editorial InDesign documents.

In some INDD files, font changes become impossible even though the UI accepts the change — the document internally reverts it due to broken or legacy font/style references. This typically happens after documents have passed through multiple InDesign versions, operating systems, or workflows (sometimes involving InCopy). At the moment, the only reliable fix is a full IDML round-trip, which effectively rebuilds the document and clears these ghost references.

It would be extremely helpful to have a built-in “document sanitize /…

  4. Selected or Page in Find/Change

Earlier versions of InDesign included a “Search: Selected” option in Find/Change.
This made it possible to safely replace text only within a selected area or page.

In current versions, this option has been removed, and Search: Document ignores selections entirely, making page-specific replacements impossible when text exists in multiple, unthreaded text frames.

This is a serious regression for production and packaging design workflows, where the same value (order number, batch number, SKU) appears multiple times per page and must be changed per page only.

Please restore Search: Selected, or introduce a Search: Page scope in Find/Change.

  5. Show Count of Pages a Parent is Applied to

When dealing with large documents with multiple parents, it would be helpful to know how many pages a certain parent is applied to. There is an old script out there, Check Master Page Numbers.jsx, but it does not show a total count for each parent. (Script results screenshot attached.)

  6. Specify a master page for automatically-inserted blank pages

The book functionality allows you to specify even/odd page starts for chapters, and allows you to insert a blank page if a chapter doesn't fall on the desired type of page. But nowhere can you select the master page to be used for the inserted page.

This renders the feature crippled for a great many documents. For example, manuals and legal documents typically require "This page intentionally blank" on blank pages, to assure the reader that the document is complete. This is standard: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intentionally_blank_page

The question has been raised of what happens if the parent you specified for blanks doesn't…

  7. bring back PageMaker file (.PMD) support or a conversion option in new InDesign versions

    Hello Adobe Team,

I would like to request that Adobe InDesign once again include support (or at least a conversion feature) for opening PageMaker (.PMD) files.

Many designers and publishers still have important archives created in PageMaker, and it has become very difficult to access or update those files since modern InDesign (CC versions) no longer supports them.

Even a simple "Convert PMD to INDD/IDML" option or a legacy import plug-in would be extremely useful. It would save time, preserve historical work, and help users migrate old projects without depending on outdated software like InDesign CS6.

    I Know this is…

  9. 6 odd things InDesign needs to fix

6 Odd Things InDesign Needs to Fix
After having used InDesign for a while, I encountered the following difficulties. Some may be due to my own inexperience—in which case I welcome feedback on how to resolve them—while others may well be issues with the software itself.

    1. Scrolling up and down like Word. InDesign shifts left and right like a monkey on ice, which is downright irritating. This may not be an issue if you are working on just a few pages, but if it’s a book with 500 pages, it becomes very annoying.

    2. Fully justified text. The last line should…

  10. Add custom labels to page thumbnails in the Pages panel

As someone who regularly works with large, multi-page InDesign documents - especially project-based packages - I’d love to see the ability to assign custom labels or names to individual pages in the Pages panel.

Currently, when I need to go back and edit a specific project page in a large qualifications package, it’s difficult and time-consuming to locate the right page. Using only numerical page numbers doesn’t give me the context I need, especially when each page represents a different project.

While section markers and visible labels on the page help somewhat, these don’t make navigation faster within the Pages…

  11. Expandir columnas

  12. custom page numbering

When you want to number the pages differently than the standard correlative, for example with a date system, weekly, monthly... There is no automatic option for the pages to be numbered by day of the week. If in addition to the options 1, 2, 3... 01, 02, 03... a, b, c... i, ii, iii... you add a "custom" with a popup to a list of... for example 20 custom fields (for months, weeks, work groups, jobs...) would be perfect.

  13. pages rounded corners

There is no way to predict how a project with rounded corners will look, be it a book, business card, flyer... We can create boxes with rounded corners, but we don't have the option to do the same with pages, choose the type, radius...

  14. Auto delete imported remarks after accepting them

When importing a pdf with remark/correctionss , its impossible to delete multiple remarks after accepting them. It would be great to have an option that deletes the remark after accepting it. I often have 700 pages books with 3000+ remarks. Indesign becomes soooo slow.

  15. Gutter control on spreads for facing-pages layout that require bleed on the inside edges

There are several requests for this that don't use correct terminology, so I'm going to add this one to hopefully consolidate votes on this long overdue feature. When working on facing-page projects that are not bound with glue, it is imperative that graphics and color that goes to the inside edge have bleed into the gutter. There is no gutter bleed support for parent pages in InDesign, requiring us to create two spreads with bleed across the gutter from either side to support pages that need that gutter bleed on export. Then we have to separate the pages in the…

  16. Right-Click to Duplicate Page Directly on the Canvas

Currently, duplicating a page in InDesign requires navigating to the Pages panel, locating the desired page, right-clicking, and selecting "Duplicate spread." This process, while functional, adds unnecessary steps—especially in documents with many pages.

    Proposed Enhancement:
Enable users to right-click directly on a page in the workspace to access the "Duplicate Page" option.

    Why this matters:

Faster workflow: Eliminates the need to open and scroll through the Pages panel.
More intuitive: Mirrors how users interact with objects and text frames—directly on the canvas.
Reduces friction: Especially helpful for designers working on large or complex documents.
This small change could significantly streamline…

  17. Página Principal (Maestra) aplicada automáticamente

    Hola desarrolladores,

    Espero puedan conciderarla.

  18. Arrange pages panel

Being able to drag pages around in the Pages window is fine, but it's incredibly clunky and slow. It's very easy to make mistakes when you can only see 3 minuscule pages at once in the window. Would it be possible to make a new type of window with a grid layout of all your pages, where you can easily select multiple pages and drag pages around?

Also, as others have mentioned, please implement page folders!! That would be so useful.

  19. Drag and drop Parent Pages onto pages or pasteboard

Allow users to drag and drop parent pages onto actual pages (not in the pages panel) or pasteboard.
Dragging master pages onto pages would apply it to the page.
Dragging onto the pasteboard would apply it to the spread.

  20. Conditional Text to Control Master Page Application

Enable the use of Conditional Text to trigger automatic switching or application of specific Master Pages. In complex layouts, this would streamline the process of dynamically changing page templates based on content variations or project stages.
