    changed paragraph style settings to -
    justification > composer: Adobe single-line composer

    The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2026(v21.0.1.006). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

    If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application, click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

    InDesign 16.4 on Mac OS Big Sur –
    also had this problem – spent hours trying to get it to work . . .
    exporting a .indb book containing 19 .indd files which altogether had over 1000 endnotes, many cntaining external hyperlinks –
    I got it to work by converting endnotes to footnotes within InDesign for all .indd files, then on export selecting "Footnotes > Placement > End of the section (Endnotes) and it worked straight away!
