Text moves or disappears when moving text frames
I am experiencing a serious issue with text frames in Adobe InDesign on Windows.
When I move a text frame on the page, the text inside the frame sometimes moves by itself, even though I am only moving the text frame and I am not modifying or resizing it.
Sometimes, the text completely disappears from the frame and InDesign displays the red “+” overset text indicator, as if the frame had suddenly become too small to contain the text, even though I did not resize the frame.
When this happens, I can use Ctrl + Alt + C (Fit Frame to Content) and the text becomes visible again. However, the frame does not always fit the text correctly, and the same problem happens again when I move the text frame.
The issue is not limited to one document. I tested it in a completely new InDesign document and the exact same problem occurs, so it does not appear to be caused by a corrupted InDesign file.
I have already tried:
Updating InDesign to the latest available version
Resetting InDesign preferences
Changing the Dynamic Screen Redraw setting
Testing the issue in a completely new document
None of these solutions fixed the problem.
This bug is severely affecting my workflow because I cannot reliably move or position text frames without the text moving, disappearing or becoming overset.
I have a screen recording showing the bug happening in real time and can attach it to this report.
