Title: Broken OpenType Ligature Mapping for "cha ottu" (ಚ್ಚ) in Bold Weight
Description:
In the "Adobe Kannada" font family, complex text shaping for the ಚ (cha) ottu functions correctly in the Regular weight. However, when switched to the Bold weight, the OpenType ligature rules mapping is broken. Instead of rendering a bold cha ottu, it outputs a ಜ (ja) or ja ottu glyph.
Steps to Replicate:
1. Type a word requiring a cha ottu (e.g., ಚ್ಚ) using the Adobe World-Ready Layout in Photoshop or InDesign.
2. Set the font weight to Regular (displays correctly).
3. Change the font weight to Bold.
Observed Result:
The sub-script incorrectly transforms into a ja shape (ಜ) or ja ottu instead of maintaining the bolded cha ottu structure.
Expected Result:
The glyph should maintain a consistent cha ottu mapping across all weights, updating only the visual weight/thickness of the subscript.
Additional Context:
Filing this so that the Typekit cloud asset can be updated. This will ensure that the next time the font syncs across Creative Cloud, the ottu renders accurately for print and digital publishing.
